  1. 3.0 for me was bad, 30s into a match or something wasn't an exception. 3.1 is better, maybe 5s into a match, pretty often I can even see the countdown. 2.9 and before I was seeing the countdown from the full 30 seconds every time. So it's like 2 steps back and one ahead for me personally.

    Baltimore

    I didn't play Baltimore after I got Des Moines so my experience was < 3.1 but my experience and what I hear from others it's still not good. It had a ROF boost which is badly needed, and well imo if you can't do more then couple of k salvo's on him with an Amagi you where either really unlucky or hitting the wrong parts ( again, I haven't played her with the current armor implementation ). All in all, I would say it's 99.9% certain you where just unlucky.
  6. Well at least the dev's have said we will no longer get the matches where one team had fewer but higher tier ships versus more but lower tier ships. Guess 'proper' balancing for each class per game will really only be possible with enough concurrent people in the queue.
  7. Depends. If you're a BB and you charge in then I will counter charge and your main turrets won't be able to track me, I will get to your sides and I will launch volleys of torps you can never dodge. If you're in a cruiser it's situational still. You also don't mention the initial distance to the smoke, if you're really close when the smoke is deployed you will have a much better chance since if you're further the enemy has more time while he is inside the smoke and you're not.

    This comment shows you either only played low tier cruisers or only IJN cruisers, as from tier 5 on the US cruisers do not have torpedo's and on higher tiers a cruiser has will not be effective as a scout vs a destroyer High tier IJN cruisers have pretty good concealment and torpedo's though so maybe you're playing them only

Planes need headwind for takeoff as it increases their lift ( relative air speed is the term I believe ), and with headwind during a landing they can fly slower while still having a higher relative air speed ( giving more lift ). I don't think they will do visibility changes during matches as it would mess up balance between classes to much. Imagine spawning in a BB in a heavy fog map, the enemy destroyers would chew you up since it would logically lower detection range not only of the destroyers themselves but more so their torpedoes. Well they might do it in a very limited manner, so it will be almost purely visual only. Edit: a carrier can off course launch and land planes even without headwind, but depending on the wind speed a tailwind would make it so planes have to approach with to high speed to keep enough relative air speed for lift which changes the whole approach and with enough wind make it impossible/unsafe. Also the catapult with a tailwind might not be capable of generating enough acceleration for the planes to gain enough lift during takeoff. Also not an expert by far but I can understand this much. Cross wind landings are possible on fixed runways but I'm not sure on a carrier as I don't know how the planes angle would interact with the grappling line.
  10. Not sure about reduced visibility, wind certainly would mess up or at least make CV play quite complicated. I think that in 'reasonable' visibility carriers still sortied their planes, while the visibility would still affect detection ranges of surface vessels?

    Winning in the 20th minute.

    I got sunk couple of times with < 10 seconds on the clock desperately trying to zig zag and get a draw it was nerve wrecking. I think I killed the last enemy once with 5s or so on the clock, was actually already thinking it would be a draw as my salvo had been in the air for 10 seconds already and he was turning ( so in fact, he turned into the salvo ). Sadly no screenshots, might have some of the replays still

    Issues in the US cruiser line

    Well everyone I heard from about this topic who knows what he is talking about all have the same conclusion: Cleveland has to be moved. If so many people, with different backgrounds but all with intimate knowledge of naval vessels, all say the same, I fear that if WG doesn't listen their shooting themselves in the foot.
  13. I would like rain, snow, fog ESPECIALLY in a destroyer, as my detection range would be reduced and I could launch torpedoes from way closer then now. Which is also why I don't think it will ever be implemented really, it would mess up balancing to much unless they made the changes purely cosmetic which would still look cool but lower the realism even more.
  14. Wind affecting smoke screens would be nice but it would be a large nerf to destroyers ( unless you are taking current implementation duration as in 'moderate' wind conditions ). Rain, snow, hail, fog on the other hand all limit visibility and would be buffs to destroyers if ever implemented.
  15. Sadly CV matchmaking is suffering from the currently released ships in the tech tree and to selected testers. It is the biggest issue atm with mm, but it will get solved eventually when both trees are fully available.

    There was one without a password, that is the wrong one ;) Not sure if that one still exists btw, I got the 'proper' one in my favorites ;) edit: 1 day later I finally log into the game again and there are two, one from DumbleDerp who was in the old one pretty often as well but that one has a different password then the old one, and one from another guy who also was in the old one with the same old password. But none are from Kpt so I feel their a bit fake

  20. People do things because they want to stay within their comfort zone, take them out and they will be driven to get back to it. Pleasure and pain are two extremes, both they and the vastness of probabilities between those two are what drives people

    Seeing my performance in USN DD's is way better then yours I don't see where this comment is coming from.... Ofc you can torp things if they are stupid enough to come from behind an island or something, or when you can use a smoke cloud of some IJN DD so you can get into range without being detected. USN DD's = gun boats, torpedoes are for limited scenarios. Well unless you get to tier 9 and get torp range > detection range.

    Edit: does that also mean that if I change my playstyle to that of a torp DD,do I get IJN torps to match it? USN DD's are gunships, how could one change his playstyle when the class they are using is focused on the thing being made less effective?

I don't like CV's in any way other then sinking them, but if he manages to reset the cap long enough to secure a draw who's to say he didn't earn a victory. Look the cap and the timer are there to ensure this game isn't only about damage but also about tactics. Extending battle timer is not needed, a good team already wins in time. And if you feel you're good enough to kill everyone but then run out of time, it's just a bad tactical decision. The cap and timer are there to ensure even a single DD can prevent a bad team from winning the game by completing their objective ( sink all ships OR cap ).

    Pyro is what is making my Benson such a danger atm vs bigger ships not my torpedoes which have less range then my detectability. Without the fires my avg dmg which isn't good to start with will drop even
