  1. http://worldofwarships.eu/cbt/accounts/528109233-___Y___/ So you are advocating using statistics to strengthen your arguments?
  2. Don't even need to shoot them all down, just by engaging them they panic and any drop they do will have lousy hit ratios. Very true, that makes it better for the team to do tons of damage rather than preventing the enemy carrier from doing all the damage it can. But do you think your team gives a rats [edited]about that when the enemy CV is good and killing them while you kill the enemy team? Do you think being a figurehead in a game which is only influenced by how good the CV's are at killing ships, is an enjoyable part of gameplay? It's exactly the same as the old WoT arty problem at higher tiers, matches with so many arty that the rest of their team only had one mission: spot for arty and avoid enemy arty. Most people didn't find that enjoyable. Add the fact that there is only ONE cruiser line with worthwhile AA, my Ibuki was shooting AA for minutes when trying to assist a friendly BB and CV at planes from the tier 9 IJN, I shot down 3 planes for all that effort. Maybe the meta would work if there always sufficient units capable of giving AA support, but this is not the case now.

    World of torpedos....

Yeah I kinda knew that, the explosion creates a pressure wave which pushes the water away, the loss of support and the vacuum beneath the ship would cause structural tension on the hull which would buckle under it's own weight right?

    World of torpedos....

Only if your torpedo it's ale to hit at a place where there is no torpedo bulge armor
  5. So why not ask for a meta where air superiority and recon require skill and are rewarded properly? Why do you want only to do damage? Ow and the ad hominem wasn't needed as I already said it myself; I do not like playing carriers (at least not the one I tried for 2 battles. @aerroon Historical references are good unless they hamper gameplay. Also, carriers where historically also responsible for recon and air superiority so why isn't the game more historical in that aspect? Sorry for lack of formatting posting from phone.
  6. Thank you, this is my single biggest problem with cv's atm. Some off the core concepts I think should be part of CV meta are not working. It should, so why not try and change CV's from being torpedo whoring damage dealers sitting behind your allies in relative safety, to something which is more a support class? Edit: I would give a longer reply but I got to run or I'll be late for work
  7. I agree! The problem isn't the damage, it's the fact that CV's are not rewarded properly for anything other than being damage dealer. I want CV's running fighter setups getting the same XP as those running assault setups, but it's not happening. I want better rewards for CV"s using their planes to provide intel for their team, but it's not happening. Btw the problem isn't just with the airport it's all CV's in game, it's the meta associated with them which I think is broken.
  8. Well there is your answer, go back to tier 5 ;) No seriously everyone knows the tier 6-7-8 are not upgrades, just things you need to get past to get to tier X. It's arguably a bit like the USN cruiser line where at tier 6 you have a better ship then arguably the tier 7 and 8.
  9. [edited]. I know how to evade torpedo's but I can't atm since planes are faster and turn faster than me, they will wait until I start making a turn and then drop from right besides me leaving me no chance to dodge them. Against a bad CV player, sure no problem I can dodge those all day, a mediocre cv player will be a challenge but a good cv player will shotgun me and there is nothing one can do to stop it other than hoping your team has some players who are willing to provide AA cover and screen approaches so you at least have a chance of anticipating the path the planes will take. Now your talk is all fine and dandy, and it even was true not that long ago and perhaps still true considering how many bad players play cv's atm. But like I said, a good player in that class will consistently carry more then in any other class, that alone should tell you how well implemented it is right now.
  10. Try to hide in a smoke cloud and wait for them to close in, if they don't blanket area with long range wide spread torps and make sure you won't be spotted when your smoke clears, if they do hold you torpedoes until < 4km ( the closer to 2km the better, 2km you will get spotted automatically ). If they kept their distance then just retreat to keep out of detection range until your smoke is ready again and repeat. Which nation DD's you playing? IJN are not meant to fight USN dd's if you can avoid them ( at least not on even terms ). DD playstyle is the highest risk in game, but if you get it right also the highest reward.
  11. Skill cap != skill ceiling. The best CV can wreck an enemy team, put an equally good captain into any other class and his ability to consistently carry are greatly reduced this is why I think it's fundamentally broken.

    slow responsive rudder...please advise

What should be visible from the screenshot ( which is cropped like mad I guess )? I don't see any rudder so that means it's neutral? edit: still having coffee, only now notice the puff of smoke in front. That is a client / server desync, and it's not happening to me and therefore I think it's not automatically a WG issue. These desync issues need pingplotter verification, add those please. If you do I would be highly surprised if you don't notice a problem in your routing outside of WG servers ( otherwise, the effects would cause not one of these threads but 100's as everyone would be near equally affected ).
  13. I still don't understand how people can judge the 400k dmg games on the new 'test' IJN cv's as 'not troublesome', how people seem to think World of Warships is about evading plane dropped torpedo's and not about naval action, how people seem to think a class which has the highest damage potential but who has the lowest risk factor in the game is not fundamentally broken. And yes, I don't play CV's I don't like playing them, so there now you can't use that argument for some ad hominem about a 'no carrier games scrub talking out of his [edited]'.
  14. I have had great matches in Gremmy, a tad worse since Gremmy seems to have had a cammo nerf but still good. I have better dmg on my Gremmy at tier 5 then my Sims at tier 7 ;) Anyway, nope I won't convince you, not my job. I can tell you to hang in there as I think the game has good potential, has some nice implementations already and 'it will be great' but I'm not sure that will happen so I can't tell you that. I can tell you I am still having hope the devs won't screw it up and instead fix the things which are currently not working well. Also there is nothing stopping you from taking a break and coming back in a week or two to give it another try. Nothing like a period of abstinence to judge if you still crave something

    World of torpedos....

I would support that proposal 8)
  16. You like your carriers don't you? I like my destroyers, and imo carriers don't have that much trouble in the game other than potentially destroyers ( and cv's ).

Gun sight Mods & weapons not hitting target

About 2, it could be related to 1 as lag will mess up your aim more than an improved sight would even if it might require learning to lead again using the visual aids. I am using a spiderweb sight which certainly helps with ships at angles, I would hit less with the stock sight.

is it me or is the phoenix bad?

I think my average game time is 12 minutes, and lower tier battles tend to be quicker than higher tier so I guess 1 hour should be totally doable.
  19. They are not OP, they are just broken in current implementation ( which includes non complete tech tree's and MM ). And maybe I don't like playing OP sheeps because I like being challenged, which is why I totally don't still held on the Cleveland or even St Louis when I already have the Des Moines, or a Fuso while having a Yamato ;) Or maybe I just did not like the few games I played in a carrier, I don't know some people hate BB's or DD's and I like them both just as cruisers. But carriers, maybe on higher tiers it would get more fun but the starting carriers are just very boring imo.

is it me or is the phoenix bad?

Omaha was a very pleasant grind after getting it elited, stock it didn't feel right but it's not supposed to I guess. Murmansk is even better, it's not worse then Omaha and it prints money, it also has 8km torps unlike Omaha and the best AA of any cruiser at tier 5. The phoenix is a destroyer leader, not a CA. Play it like one and it's not a bad grind. But that's the issue atm with WoWs, ships are not preparing you for the next ship in the line, there is no dedicated CL line or CA line, the BB lines are mixed with dreadnaughts, BC and BB's. So progression through a line sometimes requires switching playstyles a lot, which feels unnatural.
  21. But playing them isn't fun, so should I play them just 'know better how to counter them'?

[MOD] [0.4.0.3] Ship view - zoom out more!

The reason I ask for sharing is so more people can look at how you play the game, you don't want EoS because you feel it's cheaty and I respect that. But, at the same time, it's not really up to your morals if it's actually a cheat. That is up for the developers, and the community. So I feel every mod should be freely available so the entire community has a chance to use and perhaps judge it be it in a negative or a positive manner. Off course, the choice is all yours, you might feel there is no need to share, no need for an open community where trust is as important as anything else. Now again, I am not saying it is a cheat, I even don't think EoS is really 'cheaty' as all it did was give me a headache because it didn't track properly and because it sacrifices the last zoom step for the overhead view. Now looking at your modification it looks like the same could be done to the EoS mod, as in adding it as extra step not as replacement for an existing one. Anyway, while I might feel it's not a cheat because it didn't help my personal performance at all, I do think the final word is not mine. And if EoS style mods, zoom mods ( which in WoT are very useful and therefore by some considered as a cheat giving an unfair advantage ) can all be created with a 'simple' modification of an xml file, maybe the community will ask for not only scripts to be encoded but also for xml files to be 'protected'. But in order to give the community that chance, they need to see what can be done and get an opportunity to speak based on known facts to them edit: ps I been using the mod since yesterday and it has helped me dodge torpedoes and focus my AA a lot easier due to having a wider surrounding view.

Your combat role - Pay attention to it please

You didn't dismiss what I said, you even just repeated what I said earlier about things which need changing. I said teamwork is rewarded, since teamwork wins more games and winning gives more xp then loosing ( on average which is what counts ). That holds true even if per situation / game, teamwork might not feel rewarded at all ( and I agree WG could take steps to make it more rewarding, no not could but should make them ).
