Ow I will do that if I see a BB push, the staying max range is when meeting BB's alone. You can check if a BB is targeting you and angle to make yourself an unattractive target, sure you can be crippled regardless from a stray shot but that's once every 30 seconds. And having the CA close actually would deter DD's from doing a close run at a BB, so yeah I fully understand BB's wanting this. Though I admit that I will not do this if I'm already badly hurt, then I will fall back and use max range. But me in a full hp CA and you in a BB and you ask me for help when you push hard, you bet your [edited]I will be there right besides you. Why? Because it wins games, that is why. I might die, no actually I am likely to die if I keep pushing with my BB, but the BB will not as long as I do my job properly and keep the DD's off him and the planes in panic. When I play BB's and I have CA's using their AFT to kamp > 5 km behind me, I will likely not push into the enemy as I don't trust the CA's from having my back. That's the whole point, BB's don't need you alongside ( in fact, I might not like it all if you're so close I can't turn when I need/want to ), but they want to 'feel' they can trust you having their back.

CA staying at their max engagement range should be able to kite and dodge the BB almost indefinitely. It becomes harder when there are multiple BB's there as you can't time your turns as easily then. Either way, CA is not supposed to fight BB head on, BB's are CA killers by design remember. You can however delay or coral a BB, BB's don't like being on fire. so put them on fire. The times I seen top tier BB's stop their push just because two cruisers are spamming HE at it and putting it on fire in multiple places ( damage the BB can almost fully recover from! )... There is a psychological aspect involved there outside of game mechanics.

Good write up, thanks for that It's refreshing to hear the other perspective: smaller teams -> more team work. Sadly, most of the feedback I'm getting from ranked players is about the frustration, and I'm really worried about that because I can't deal with frustration as well as I should. Guess the only way to really be able to tell either way is to finally venture into some ranked battles

Press tab in game, quick commands are on the left side of the screen with their corresponding numbers. edit: or was it F1... thought it was tab and quick commands didn't show on help screen ( F1 ) but I might very well be wrong

Correct, but hard to implement ( since it's a per ship combination basis ). I know it wouldn't fix everything, but disallowing a bigger tier spread then normal MM would allow would be a quick fix for a significant part of the problem.

Because you have a very low win rate, and that doesn't match your statement about holding your own. I do admit I didn't look at your ranked results, those are better and would support you holding your own. I wonder how come there is this big gap though? Also, if I were in battle with you I would judge you on your performance in game, not on your profile page, but that is much harder when done with an forum post ( as I can't see you actually play, I have to look at the numbers since their the only clue we have ). As to why I judge you, I don't. Not at all, everyone can play and should be able to play without getting judged. I commented on your statement about holding your own, as 46% win rate suggests you got some room for improvement. That's not judgement but factual, judgement would be if someone attributed more to those numbers then they represent: results in battle. I'm curious though, since you're doing much better at ranked then randoms and you say that's your focus, what is it in ranked which makes you perform better than in randoms? I don't play ranked because I don't want the frustration which comes with it, but since I now have some ships which I can take into ranked and just grind them like normal I will probably venture into ranked today or tomorrow ( and frankly I feel I can use any tips/help I can get as I'm playing terrible ever since I started the Myoko missions ).

I said a spread allowed by MM which is not 0 but +-2 for the entire division Within the normal MM limits division should be free, why would one not allow someone to play his Atlanta with a tier 8 carrier, or even tier 9? Or a MK with a tier X?

And you think that would fix the issue or just move it around? The only real solution is to prevent larger tier gap's as normal MM would allow, but people been asking for this in WoT since long before I started playing.

No, the patcher isn't able ( I tried to use the command line arguments to force integrity check from WoT, they don't seem to work ) And if you manually delete files I'm not sure how that would work, I don't think it would work but you could try ( since if it doesn't work, you're forced to do a new install anyway ). Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems the best option. -
Wasn't answered yet, my rhetorical question alert is also beeping but meh: working as intended, those rules don't apply obviously to CV otherwise mirror matchmaking for CV's couldn't work.

So CV-BB-DD-CA? DD and CA depends on which phase of a battle in my opinion, until mid-late game CA's are highly influential since their disrupting enemy CV and screening BB's, but a DD in late game is more influential then a CA in late game ( depending on game mode, domination suits DD's better then normal match ). It also depends on tier, on higher tiers DD's become more situational and team dependant, the maps get much bigger and CA's can actually avoid detection by BB's quite easily if needed. edit: I have to admit though, since the end of CBT I haven't owned a tier X ship so I might be out of touch slightly

Meh my personal results enforce my summary, I do better with my BB's ( win rate, damage is not a figure we can compare between classes and we shouldn't even attempt it as each class has a different role in battle ) then my cruisers ( exceptions are allowed ). I don't always like playing them, as with BB's rng plays a far bigger role than with cruisers imo. The main argument though: OP thinks cruisers are the most influential, a bad one on one team vs a good one on the other team. And that's not true. If you want to know which class has the biggest influence on battles and thus where the biggest influence would be if talking about players of different skill levels, you only need to look at which class is restricted to max 2 per game and mirror matchmaking.

You are performing less then you're attributing to yourself. Someone who is capable of holding their own should have better results than you don't you agree?

CA is the easiest class to play ( and yes I'm a cruiser player mainly but still this is true ). Having a good carrier on the enemy team and a bad one on yours will influence the battle much more than a cruiser would. BB is harder to play, because it has a higher skill ceiling. A well played BB can be much more valuable than a well played cruiser. DD is hard to play on the higher tiers, but they are very influential and a good DD will win his team many games, he just needs to survive long enough for gaps to show up in enemy lines.

I had the same problems and others had them as well, a reinstall should fix it ( there are corrupted files most likely due to the patcher ). Sorry, I know reinstall is probably not what you wanted to hear but it's still the best avenue to take. -

Hey, tier 4 BB's meet CV's and have crap to no AAA right, so people should be doing terrible in them! Ow wait.. looks like I am not doing that bad at all in them Might there be a way to deal with planes without having AAA? I think there is, for a big part at least. Ofc, some drops will be unavoidable especially those that surprise you ( because paying attention to minimap is the first thing one does to avoid getting hit by planes.... ). I had games in Imperator where a Langley's torp bombers each time flew in my direction but after a couple of turns they just ignore me and go for an easier target ( yes this is a hint ). Also +-2 tier is fine, as long as there is a good distribution of top and bottom tiers and usually this is the case. Personal failing does not indicate a failing in the game itself.

Weak AA Small range? Must have crap captain then, since it's a premium you should have at least one IJN captain with AFT right... I will agree she is hard to play, as you're outgunned by almost anything you meet.
