    World of DD

That is rather one sided.. you want to know how many times I CAN'T use my 16km torps ( 5kt for 20% range decrease yes please ) because if I miss I might hit allies behind my targets? And no, radar will help, but CV's are still the main counter to hidden DD's with allied DD's being the second hard counter, screening and pushing enemy DD's with the support of cruisers. Only after that, the new cruisers with radar can be considered a hard counter.

How Do you play the Sims?

Trigger_Happy_Dad, on 18 March 2016 - 09:25 PM, said: With concealment expert you get the concealment down to 6.6 km, Hatsuharu has 6.7 km, Kagero 6.8 km (without camo / camo expert skill) WITH concealment expert / module my Kagero has 5.4km concealment range... ;) It's not 'fair' to compare mismatched setups. On the other hand, Sims is a premium so you're more likely to be able to use high skill point captains on her, BUT if you made it to Kagero you're supposed to have a good captain as well.

Not really, the problem is lack if CV's at top tier, and if you have them it's a long shot if you got one which knows how to properly use one ( yes yes... some will argue CV's are dedicated damage whores and spotting Shimakazes isn't in the job description, and yes usually you do win most of your games and do tons of damage but trust me your team will love you if you park a plane over a DD even if you don't get as much damage... ofc sinking them is even better! ). edit: And in addition to that, it's other DD's also playing as damage whores instead of screening for team. And who can really blame them, spotting damage isn't in the game so why risk your ship 'for the team' if it's not directly rewarded? Personally, me, I do screen, because I like winning more than losing. But, I can't fault anyone thinking differently.

How Do you play the Sims?

Sims a support DD, it can't out spot IJN DD's so you can't yolo when there are still many cruisers around. Team up with some allied DD's, try following IJN DD's on your team and help them secure cap points. In a 1v1 against a Kiev/Blys you need to close the distance as their shell arc is more favourable to medium range engagements, this even applies to fighting IJN DD's. During late stages of battles you can engage distracted enemies, you can stealth fire with AFT and especially against isolated BB's you can be a pain with your constant HE rain. Shell arc makes this only viable against BB's though, CA's will evade your shells easily let alone DD's. I have only ~30k avg dmg or so with Sims but 63% win rate. It's not a damage dealing DD ( against capital ships, it murders DD's at close range though ), it's becomes a bigger and bigger threat the more enemy ships are dead and isolated, low health cruisers can be gunned to death. I am using the long range torps, stealth torping is possible but the low dmg per torp make it not really worth it. If you want to snackbar an isolated BB.. you need the flooding damage to actually sink an not even full hp Nagato. The thing is, besides it's lower damage potential, it has quite an high credit multiplier so it's not a bad income generator.

    Top Tier DD Infestation

I just made it, wasn't it clear enough?
  8. There are always some exceptions though. An Atlanta with a tier 9 CV isn't that bad, unlimited barrages and decent DPS. I would make it +-2 anyway since that is the normal MM spread ( and yes I am aware the entire division is counter as the top tier, so you can still drag a Fuso into tier X when you division it with an Atago ). To counter or balance that, WoWs MM should imo work like WoT mm and balance total vehicle/ship weight of opposite team. This is off course presuming there are enough ships in queue to do so.

    Winrate means NOTHING

WTR ( for instance ) puts a bigger emphasis on damage then win rate, I don't really agree. It's like the old wnX discussions in WoT, every iteration had/has it's problems, it's almost impossible to reach a community wide consensus. edit: That being told, bad ships don't mean they drag your rating down. Sims is regarded as terrible, but it is one of my highest WTR ships ( because it's 'bad' and if you perform adequately in something which is on average 'bad' you get a high rating easily ).

Awwww, no luck with the ladies? edit: And if you're claiming to be a gurl... edit2: In the unlikely case girls are real: I'm a single guy and will date anyone with 70% win rate or more, must play destroyers and cruisers and have access to teamspeak.

    Winrate means NOTHING

Correct, I should have said: is meaningless on it's own. Stop stealing muh damage
  17. mtm78

    Winrate means NOTHING

Kinda, I guess Though you emphasized XP and damage, when I make a clear distinction because DMG ( and with it, XP ) can be gained without playing for the win, which imo is the ultimate goal. If I could ensure a victory each battle with only minimal damage, I would actually see that as a challenge lol. Other times though it's just fun to shoot stuff to pieces, but overall the tactical plays are more important to me then the raw damage metrics. Now, if you do more damage AND win more games, well that's a whole different thing altogether
  18. mtm78

    Winrate means NOTHING

Damage can be whored though, and since dmg counts for XP it's not that great a metric. Win rate in relation to XP / Damage is best, win rate alone, especially if it's heavily boosted by divisions, is rather meaningless.
  19. I don't dismiss it completely, but I do consider conclusions based upon it as not scientifically proven. The uncertainty because of missing correlation is too big. Also, I am pretty sure WG does have these statistics, even 3rd party trackers would have access to them ( excluding those who opted out of publicly available statistics ), it's the matter of actually analyzing the data accordingly which isn't done ( afaik, might be some 3rd party tracker already doing it but I don't know about it ).

Maybe WoWs could use something like gun barrel marks in WoT, so that without XVM or actual statistics mods, everyone would be able to get some matter of expectations on skill levels of allies. ( though gun barrel marks will be hard to see in WoWs, it could be markings in a ship's hull or something. I'm using XVM for it now that it's back, but even without,,, some maps, spawns, team lineups, you just have a set choice of viable tactics. So when people propose something I often don't even need XVM to know their skill level. But, when I asked for which cap to go, and I had a 2 man ( Zao and Yamato ) division with both well over 60% win rate, to go for the cap which I would normally ignore, saying they will support me, I went for that cap. I spotted things, they killed things ( I tried to help a bit ofc, but I needed to stay clear of the Kharborovsk on the enemy team so I couldn't get in the most optimal launch positions ). The game was blast, I had a nice talk with the division after the game as well. I almost messed up though, Kharb was on low health and I tried to kill it with guns in my Kagero.. almost got me killed

No one rages at win rate. People rage about people doing stupid stuff. That those people usually sport below average win rate, it can happen. Yesterday I was raging on TS because a 53% cruiser player threw a match away by getting killed with less than 1 second to go when me and other people were asking him to ffin stop shooting, get concealment back and just ffin survive the game so we would get a win. I spent the entire game holding off an enemy Colorado, Kongo and a DD with my ARP Haruna, I didn't get a lot of damage in but I thought I had been doing a good job and I was really disappointed at losing the match when there was absolutely no need to snatch defeat from the claws of victory.. And, in another match, a game where I thought we would lose, a 43% Hatsaharu had the game of his life and was able to decap at the last second ensuring our lemming train ( with me in it ) was able to cap before the enemy. Stats don't cause raging, that would be silly. Performance in that single game is what people react to. If not, those people who start a game with saying in chat: our carrier is a 34% noob, this is going to be hard -> report them for chat abuse imo. I mean, I say those things on TS, but I won't cause the rest of the team any discomfort by knowing it and that is how it should be. At 3k or 4k battles, it's safe to assume that teaching them is a rather daunting task, and something which they themselves are most likely not open to. Since if they were, they would have started a long time ago. On the other hand, I have perhaps 4k battles in total including CBT, and I am still learning I liked your post btw, I agree that it's not a terrible issue ( as long as MM doesn't give you the feeling it's sentient and trying to 'balance' you game after game after game putting you in a sea of red ). And as above, I seen good players throw matches and bad players win them for their team. Stats are meh, nice to track one's own performance and a good way to see where one could improve. But it's predictive assets for each single game isn't that great, leaving asides the real extreme's on both ends. No not really. For every 60% player there are likely many 46% players, and not a 40% player. I do agree btw with your post, just not with your representation of demographics as I don't think the distribution is that linear. The only thing I would like btw is for everyone to play for the victory. If you're a below average player, that means accepting that other players are better, hence you might want to listen more to advice from other players. Often times I see 45% players and when I or someone else proposes a beneficial course of action they just ignore it. And not that they don't know English or anything, because after they die they start blaming the teams. Usually these people also claim that win rate is just luck, and that they are actually good players.
