It has a much better alpha strike, but not enough dpm to be a DD hunter. It also has much better arcs then USN DD's so it can hit them at longer range more reliable. But, you are still not a gun boat, you use the guns to decapacitate enemies and disengaging before it becomes a dpm race ( you have the first salvo anyway because of best cammo ), finish off low hp enemies or put them on fire before going back into concealment. edit: btw imo the mechanics for losing turrets is not well implemented so while that has a role in this comparison, it's sooner a mechanic I would like altered on it's own than to bring it into a balance discussion.

Uhm Zao is one of the ships which can reliably damage at it's max range where it can't even be seen, it's a totally valid tactic. It also has the lowest HP of all tier X ca's and it's not that suited to pushing in under the circumstances you're describing either. Doesn't excuse him from being a douche given the circumstances you describe, and certainly not team killing you, but just saying Zao is a invisi firing assassin, not a brawler.

Don't even need it in my example, Kagero 5.4km detection will outspot them which is why.. I don't always feel comfortable giving up my concealment for a few k damage, it's often not worth it if you got sufficient support behind you. But trust me, I know how use my guns on IJN DD's, everyone who think IJN has crap guns is out of their mind. Crap DPM, yes, but the alpha and module wrecking power is strong.

Ofc BB's are meant to come up with the fleet, but if said fleet is made up off bad cruisers and stupid DD's which don't do their job then a BB can't exactly do what it's supposed to. There is a reason a CA is called a support class, it should play in support of the BB ( which means, as clearest example, to stop shooting at the enemy BB when a DD is spotted as a DD is the primary target for the cruiser giving it he most XP / Credits when taken out as well as being off service to his team because the DD is the biggest threat to his allied BB's, and his dmg to the enemy BB is useless mostly anyway since it's going to rely mostly on HE causing fire's, which can be healed almost 100% ). Ofc, this is just a generalizing example, but every player with some tactical insight can't deny it's more often the lack of people doing their actual job which causes frustration. If you're in a CA / DD, it's the BB's still camping while you already did your job and took out the enemy DD's ( or made them retreat ), if you're in the BB it's always those cruisers / DD's not doing their job

Wait, the capping ships are usually DD's right, you want my Kagero to deal with the Fletcher trying to push me out of cap? Nah man, cruisers should support the capping DD's period. Also, since those DD's trying to push me out will give cruisers MORE xp then shooting other CA's or BB's ( because XP / Credits is based on % of hp removed not total HP removed ), it's the best thing they can do for themselves as well as for me. edit: and no I am not selfish not at all

XP is for a large part dependent on damage, and you can [edited] damage instead of playing for the victory.

Just had an Atago with 163 battles, 39% win rate and a New Mexico as highest tier ( with 22 games ), I kinda hope they will make high tier premiums only available through personal offers like what we heard might be done with Saipan

4 slots, 3 sonar's and a depth charge, I think that is the best anti sub loadout on a cl ( according to wiki, I have only just started playing ).
