No CV allowed Anyway, yes I actually think a CV and DD division wouldn't matter since the DD has no point in staying with the CV ( CV doesn't benefit, and DD loses influence on game ). In the past, yeah maybe a div of an excellent CV player and an excellent AA destroyer could have been 'toxic' to their team since they would basically play in a way where their team is HP to sacrifice while the CV outdamages the enemy CV. Team still would be carried, but they might not enjoy the experience very much. As to a division of BAD players doing this and not carrying, well that happens just as much without divisions imo.

No Sun, I didn't need a wall of text, I asked for the replay to confirm it's just

This is absolute bull and you know it, divisions are playing to win just because a division might not think you're worth risking their hp for doesn't mean they ignore the objective
-
Wut? Logs in ... edit: nope no Admiral in my port besides myself

Indeed. You did mean this is implied against people who want to change the game to suit them, not coming here for actual help with the game but to complain that mechanics are 'broken'. Those just think about their own fun and not about others

If WG removes star saving I would play it more, even without division option. Really those star saving mechanics are just bad and I'm not a bad player so I would probably benefit more from it staying... I don't even mind irrevocable ranks I think, not really have an feeling for having them or not. They make it accesible to more players, who rely on having win streaks due to getting carried by others, just as in randoms. And WG should be capable of setting up progression limiters which are greater then the win streak length of bad players getting carried ( just as in randoms, good players will get higher win rate ). The whole idea of ranked now has nothing to do with skill, or with teamwork, not when there is a 'hidden' objective to outscore the rest of your team to preserve your star.

Screenshot is not enough to determine if it was a misplay on the GK or just 'being the GK' or 'most BB's in that position would have happened the same with'. Replay would help I guess :)

Implement option to switch between Main Armaments and Secondary
mtm78 replied to VanD4rk's topic in General Discussion
No. To much rebalancing is only one side, the other is why buff battleships more? That is what this is right, since those have actual meaningful secondaries? On the other side, if WG buffs secondaries they might nerf BB main guns for balance reasons... you want that? Influence of BB's shouldn't increase what it is already. Secondaries on other classes are not important at all, since main battery rof is high enough, so no one in a DD or CA/CL would ever find a need to use manual secondaries. -
No I am at war with the enemy, and my allies are strategic assets. This comment should make it very clear why chivalry hasn't been a thing in combat for centuries. And the comment was aimed at explaining why rewarding positive actions in game can only be done through the economy. If you disagree, please specify.... No no it's not that simple. Please, use the example of rewarding 'tanking'. When does it need to be rewarded? Come up with the ruleset which defines 'good' tanking. You know as well as I do that it's not possible, because I will always find scenario's which your rules don't cover and in which amount of reward would not reflect actual contribution to winning games. This is completely not possible, the only way to learn this is by playing with people who can teach you it. Me playing with some really good players early on really helped me ( and I still suck.... ). It's not just processor time, it's much more fundamental. The difference between a good and a bad player isn't that they never smoke an ally, it's that the good player knows when it's actually beneficial. And why can we say that this is true, well the good player wins more games and in a large enough dataset it's therefore conclusive that his actions contribute more towards winning as actions off others. Which reminds me one of my big gripes, those tooltips before the battle... the times I asked a player to do something and gotten told it's not what the tooltip tells them... that's just terrible. The only way to do this as community is through community innitiative. WG is not going to add better tutorials and even if they did, they would be hard pressed to not still be told it's not good enough because bad players can not follow tutorials and implement them in random games ( they don't have the awareness to realize a situation warrants a certain action ). No amount of tutorials will cover a large enough section of possible scenario's the player might encounter. Anyway, the only really good way of doing this would be making it more attractive for veteran players to play together with new players in divisions. Currently regrinding veterans are mostly playing with other veterans, there is not a lot of knowledge being passed on. And while you keep mentioning in game chat, trust me this community can not be learned through in game chat ( chances of this being successful are one in a few thousand attempts ). You need more veteran players being engaged with new players directly, through com's and in a way where new players feel comfortable enough to not cry foul if being pointed to mistakes, and veterans should be able to transfer their knowledge to the new players without getting frustrated. I was usually available for divisions on the WG TS, but I've had some bad experiences with this, mainly people showing up who didn't actually want to learn they wanted to rant at me because they don't agree with some of the things I wrote on forums. Others have done this as well, but I recently checked Port Royal and it was entirely deserted :( Anyway, I do feel that if you really want to know as much as you can know in order to play as well as you can, there are ways to do so but they all are exclusive to the actual game. If WG made a lobby where veterans could offer new players help and play with them in division if they want, this would surely be a great asset to the community. But you're talking about Quality Of Life changes, to a chat system which has been broken since the game came out. Also, you would need in game moderators for public 'service' lobbies like that, there won't be a lot of veterans going to keep hanging out there in the long run otherwise ( or.. you end up with just veterans and no new players daring to enter ). Also, WG will likely point out that clan function might be partially covering this.

Lowering the influence of captain skills at lower tiers would probably make the game more accessible to new players, and I don't see many arguments why this change would have negative side effects so... but it's been brought up a lot of times already and it's seemingly not that good a solution according to WG Also, isn't there an IFHE rework coming / not coming / soon / someday? Where? Stupid questions are given stupid answers. Threads like the one's asking for more of the bingo card boxes being ticked might be told to learn to play with current mechanics. That's not toxic, that's healthy. We don't want the game to have to change to cater to those who aren't capable of using the current mechanics, why should we need to change the game just for them? And when those people actually ask: how to deal with this and that mechanic? Then they get on topic answers. Like, positioning, planning ahead, having an exit. Yeah I remember telling people Omaha was the best cruiser in the game..... it was one of the two only tier 5 cruisers in the game, but hey Thing is, even this doesn't play a role really in the above sentiment. It really is people who come here and complain about things they don't understand or who think the game or forum is here so they can come in and proclaim the game is broken, all players who don't agree with them are exploiting broken MM / mechanics and so on, which normally label the reaction they get as toxic. Some have more patience with people like that as others. I tend to grab my Maybe new players shouldn't be trying so hard to change the game so it suits them? Or bad players so they think they would be less bad, if just some of the 'broken' mechanics would be different. Or on the other side, far less frequent and almost never actually serious, good players which want mechanics which aren't broken to be broken so they can exploit them more. I never seen someone come in and ask: why does the game do X when I do Y? And get an elitist answer. Or: what should I do in situation X with ship Y? Those questions get answers. Just as they always gotten answers, and just as statements like: "my ship X was in situation Y and it sank, plox fix!" got told then to 'git gud'. You wouldn't believe the amount of times in game I was told I was bad... I mean I actually was bad, but I heard it from my allies and even in forum ;) And not always in a friendly way... And that was in CBT let's say so it's not like this community has taken a turn for the worse in that sense. Really the only times when there might be an elitist attitude is imho from new people coming in with 'fixes' for 'broken' mechanics

Initial alpha strike? You forgot one of the most important differences tho, profile. Lenningrad is easier to evasion tank not just because of rudder shift and speed, but because it has a lower profile. The 'taller' a DD get's, the harder it get's to weave in salvo's so they overshoot ( barely ). And constantly favoring weaving out to minimize potential damage makes you more predictable. *edit: disclaimer btw, I am actually looking forward to this buff, I want to feel it it makes a difference in how I can approach a game..
-
You said that before, while most of us are actually proud of this community and how unlike in some others, new players and noobs are welcome and get on point answers and explanations. You personally attacked me base on the above accusations more then once I can recall, and yet never you seem to be able to point out any thing specific. Maybe because this community is far from what you paint it to be, and the only reason YOU want to make it look like it is, is because your opinions on matters are not shared by this 'minority', I really don't know. Nor do I care btw, but since you took your time to paint that picture about the forum users here, I'd thought it be entirely fair if I done the same for you. if you have a question, you get answered if you have a stupid question, you get answered after being told the question is stupid if you don't know game mechanics and come complain about balance, you will get frowned upon, and your complaints will be dismissed ( and rightfully so ) The people usually complaining are the one's who think having your profile hidden and complaining about mechanics and balance without showing any recognition as to how and WHY these mechanics are at play, shouldn't be met with some healthy ridicule.

I was about to be mean and say you should return SF if you wanted to keep her core gameplay the same, but that's low hanging fruit and frankly I don't even agree with that statement so let's not ;) I look forward to seeing how this impact my enjoyment when playing the ship, the increase in dpm without touching the high alpha does not look that bad to me ( I like that high alpha, just as I did with old IJN DD's ). I was thinking how a concealment buff would work out, I imagine my wr would spike due to being better at the initial DD skirmishes and being less reliant on another DD with better concealment to sometimes act as a spotter / lure for me, but yes that would change the playstyle.

Dear Sun, you took a list of ships and how they perform, and then proclaimed it proves the poster agreed with your wish for buffs
-
There been theorizing that in order to mount those guns on a ship, it would be more like the old English Monitors and less like a modern battleship, the gun's would not be mounted in a traversable housing, only movable axis would be elevation. Also, loading time would be measured in decades, and the gun's were not designed to work on a platform which isn't stable ( tolerances on the Dora and Schwerer Gustaf were much higher as on BB guns, allowing them much higher accuracy as a result ). Also, just to be clear, H55 is not an official design
-
It never was dominant in contesting caps, but I played it mostly like I play my French DD's now -> support your other destroyers in very early game ( they have better concealment ), then when situation is known, you know where ships are located roughly, initial DD engagements are done, then you go pick on isolated enemies or continue with DD engagements. Kiting directly implies playing reactive, DD's which play reactive are not as influential. Anyway it's nice to see a buff, don't get me wrong. And I realize it will make the ship better, ofc it will, I am just trying to find a direction in which I could exploit this buff the furthest ;)

Well I 100% understand you, I really do, but you have to consider that while the player probably deserved even harsher words as you gave them, you're still agreeing to WG's terms and conditions when playing their game, one of which limits the freedom of expression we have when using their communication system. I should not be the one preaching, I run into chat bans myself, but frankly what other people tell me should still be repeated: if you have nothing nice to say, don't bother. This game has a way to lenient economy, the bad players ( who lose so many games on average because of their own actions ) should have a higher incentive to learn from their mistakes but they don't since WG doesn't punish them ( by making it so that loses COST a player credits... not get the same amount in win or lose situations ). MM is doing it's job, but it's job is not to prevent that guy from being in the same team/game as you. It's job is to ensure everyone, you and me included, have the same chance of getting 'that guy' in our team. Take a break Seriously, I have to take one now and then as well
-
Yeah I guess the early influence could indeed go up again, it actually seems quite interesting. Looking at just rof is not enough I should have considered the amount of shells and per shell dmg to see the actual difference. It's just that, when I play Blys now I can already have my ~70k dmg games without that much effort ( probably boasting... but meh :P ), but it means I'm playing light cruiser not destroyer ( I won't play hyper agressive against DD's at start, I will focus on preserving my hitpoints ). And while I might even get higher average dmg compared to my old stats, I will not be as influential ( the DD battles mostly decide games, dmg is just a bonus ). That's my issue with some of the balancing btw, numbers will not tell you / dev / WG the whole story ( but you know that )

Afaik, you can still use division chat and clan chat it's just team and all team chat which are blocked. Not really a reason to not play, you can always spam 'I need intelligence data' and ping the map if you want to 'rant' at your allies ;) *afaik recipients only see first ping / message spam, so while you feel like you have an outlet, your team actually doesn't even notice much of your temper tantrum. We had this discussion many times, and the conclusion always been: yes it is that black and white. Which makes me a dirty scoundrel for still having had situations where I made the wrong call and launched anyway thinking that the risk was small enough to take since it could also win us the match if they landed on what I wanted to land on. But rather I admit I sometimes make a mistake, then offering players who should not be entrusted with this responsibility, a moral option to launch from second line.
-
I'm one of those players responsible for generating those stats claiming she is still doing fine.... But, when I compare playing Blys in current meta and old meta, it's day and night. Blys used to be the powerfull ship in the game tier for tier, well for me at least. But new additions / powercreep has been more influential as losing stealth fire. There are just to many other ships with ballistics capable of threathening you even at long range ( way to play Blys was always hyper agressive at start -> kill enemy DD, cap, fall back play second line fire support (~starter ). And even without SF this was not that hard to do. But that role, that 'niche' has been filled with other lines, who can do it even better. FR DD plays excellent when working with an allied spotter DD jumping on enemy DD's thinking they picked a favorable fight to them... RN DD's can hold a cap much easier since the almost instant smokes and defensive hydro. I do think a little ROF increase will make my average damage go up, but I'm not sure if it changes anything in how much influence I can have in a game. How exactly do you envision the added dpm will benefit where Blys will be good at?
-
edited You care enough to come post about it here Anyway just reading this, totally coincidental -> https://www.commonsensemedia.org/game-reviews/world-of-warships I have had chat bans, but I seem to have always earned them ( I had some checked... ). Just remember this is a free 2 play game and the person you might be 'yelling' at might be a 12y old kid who just doesn't know any better

Why has no one mentioned H45 yet, armed with Schwerer Gustaf's ( 80cm ) guns? I'm surprised it took 19 hours for you to reach that conclusion.

Flu / fever, sense of humor failed me a bit sorry Never ever though something like a Mikasa would be considered cheating the mm... there never been a Type59 for this game.

That moment when they expect you to counter this...

I know don't worry, just making sure you know ;) -
No he did not, it wasn't his fault some forgot there are no friendly torpedoes, they all go kaboom when they meet a ship doesn't matter green or red ( or your own ship when speedboosting ). Never EVER EVER EVER launch your torps from second line. And what is second line? Well any place which is not where there is no chance at all that an ally might intercept your torpedoes. Basically, if you the closest the enemy, no one else has the right to limit your movement because they feel entitled to potential damage even if it endangers others. We tried teaching this to new players from the start, but when I play my DD's I still need to dodge useless torpedo's from my cruisers behind me... especially German one's with 4.5km range... and enemies at 10km+. And don't worry, you will get it wrong sometimes it happens to the best of us. But if it happened, don't proclaim it's the fault of the guy getting torped, it is NEVER his fault even if he could have evaded them... Your torps, your fault. The times I been killed because I to dodge 'friendly' torpedoes only to steer right into a salvo of enemy one's, or where I couldn't turn out before getting spotted with my smoke on cooldown because some bugger shot torps from behind me... Disgusting behavior, almost warranting return of the old teamkill system
