The truth is, it doesn't matter what YOUR reasons are, I have mine: you're late and therefore ruining my fun by lowering chances to win so I report you for it. If you 'only' do it because of technical issues but you do it it to often, I hope support will pick up on it, if you do it with intent I hope support will ban you. It's that simple. It's not selfish, it's selfish to think that people being late to the game ( for WHATEVER reason ) is not having in impact on EVERY OTHER GUY in the match. Not only your own team, but also the enemy. It's not selfish, because I am doing what I am supposed to do, report people who ruin the fun off others. Intent and what not, is not for me to determine but support. It's their job to see if they can be sure you're having technical issues ( at which time I STILL say: if you have, and you press battle anyway: enjoy your well deserved reports! ) or if you're consciously ruining the fun off others. edit: That's indeed the point, if there are technical reasons people load late in game it is usually well known. I had those moments as well, with the same systems as I have now and which now load without issues. And partly I think this ofc is due to all the bot reports given to people loading in late ( JUSTIFIED reports again, since there is no difference from an observational view between 'loading issues' and 'botting' ). Either WG fixes the issue so people can play, or people who still have issue should just not play period. This is a team game, would you play another game knowing you're always going to be to late? Like some FPS where you're the medic, and your team needs you but you got 'loading issues' and you will only start the game minutes after the rest? I think THAT would be selfish, knowingly ruining the fun off other every other player in the match.

This. I report especially DD's which don't move in the first 30 seconds, DD's not moving in 30s means lost initial vision battle let alone if it's domination. AFK DD's are the worst of all.... If you're minutes late in my book you're effectively botting. Instead of ruining your team's chances to win battles, don't play if you can't load in time ( and try to get WG to fix w/e 'optimization' issue you think there is. I can't see you got a 'top of the line' rig, I only see my 5y old system loading with 40s to go, and my 8y old system which loads with 20 seconds to go. The reasoning behind being late don't really matter, you're hurting your team by pressing battle knowingly. So enjoy the reports, it's perfectly valid to report you for it. And people can't see that on your end so their reports are valid. It's up to WG to determine if you're being AFK often and with intent, if not the reports are ignored anyway. But you can't really blame the people doing the reports, they got every right to make them.

Like I said, flaming is bad, always, period, no discussion. But criticism isn't always toxic, that's my point. Differentiating between the two is usually done by the one being criticised, and to no surprise I hope they more often than not claim 'toxicity' in order to not have to deal with criticism.

Yeah now I think about it, 50% reduction to passive skills such as AFT is still 50% better than nothing

All I am saying is, and I think you would agree, FTD seems to agree that if we had sufficient English speaking casters we could/should do dual streams to reach an even wider audience. A German stream I can likely follow but a French one.. mang I dropped French after one year and all which stuck is "Je ne parlez pas Francais, parlez vous Anglais?" As for watching without caster/muted, this does diminish the value of the stream, for me as non practised in this 'mode' the added insight of the casters is helping me follow the battle. I am sure I am not alone in this Again, it's mostly for a next time, I can understand there is a lack of streamers for this to happen right now.

This would imo be mostly true IF wg allowed captain retraining for silver instead of just gold. Not everyone has a premium ship to retrain captains with.
-
Heh never thought of people using PT to 'play their fav ship as much as possible' before now Meh even then, meta on PT isn't really going to show performance on EU live server ( but you can judge ships in certain gameplay situations and then extrapolate ). I got stuck on tier 6, stopped playing it when the turret destruction was so terrible and only play it a bit since they fixed that issue. Still don't really like it though, Kiev will be such a relief to have I'll probably take a long(ish) break soon, I still got some premium time running but I'm having a bit of a burn-out on the game really so I totally get what you're saying.

Cruisers are becoming more and more pointless

Don't involve me in your personal issues, if you two need couples counseling I am sure we can arrange something but until I see my payment's I am not giving free sessions. -
How can you be comparing Khebab's stat's now with before, as you don't even have one? edit: @ColonelPete Sometimes, the reverse of what you say also happens don't you agree
-
Tbf, a lot of the strike setup's higher win rate is also because they are more widely used in divisions ( to make up for lack of fighters ). I think current top players meta is more around balanced setups then pure strike anyway, but I might be wrong as I don't play it.

You're not representative in comparison with the common player, common player will not be capable of using the same positioning and angling you probably had to employ in that match. And, unless this match is about your average, you can't really use it as example either. I watched Flamu on YT yesterday, was a cast from his stream in a Shima. It was a really decent game. But it's not representative to what the average player experience is with the ship. -
This is true, but they are few and you can easilly spot them ( again, because if they say things to increase their 'fun' factor, you notice they always say things which benefit their 'flavor of the month' most played ship(type) ). Everyone should always support his opinion with facts, or rather arguments. There is a difference with providing an argument and providing a 'fact', mainly those who use arguments can be swayed by counter arguments, those who bring 'facts' usually can not

Yes, and if the message has sufficient backing it will be weighed on merits. Thanks for being the knight on the white horse, in this case in the end ofc you're correct. My case is specificly aimed at those cases where the 'opinion' is not accompanied by any backing except 'I am saying it' and in those cases I would accept it more from someone who has shown to understand the game mechanics then from someone who shown the opposite
-
I disregard most opinions if they are about game mechanics from anyone who clearly either doesn't understand them or even worse has no idea they even exist. Like with most herp-a-derp captains who only play one class ( this also means I disregard comments on gameplay mechanics from people with hidden stats, as I can't do anything but assume a biased or lacking knowledge of existing game mechanics ). The only time opinions from people lacking understanding means something, is when you take into account WHY they don't know / understand something. If they don't because they can't, there might be to high a learning curve ( if you want to cater to the lowest denominator ) which is a valid result from listening to a person's opinion who lack actual knowledge/understanding. If they don't because they just CBA'd, which is more common, then yeah usually those people are just getting responses for and NaCl nothing more as there is no point.

Any time a discussion about balance is being had on this forum or anywhere else and someone makes this claim I am facepalming so ffin hard I got permanent brain damage by now ( trust me, others will confirm ). Stats have nothing to do with being UP or OP, because it's my OPINION they/it are UP/OP and that is enough Now, back to reading the rest of this thread

It seems you just tried to make me 'proof' of something which isn't part of this discussion at all ( 'grieving' by steering into 'friendly' torpedoes ). That's too bad, and slanderous Yup. It's always possible, I've hit allies with torpedo's I fired in good faith ( Sims 49kts torps are a pain to judge at longer distances due to their slow speed ). But I will always accept my responsibility in firing them.
-
No, you explicitly mentioned me as 'proof' of grieving existing. I think I am due an apology or you need to take those words back or even more clearly now distance yourself from them Grieving is NOT choosing to die from an 'ally' who launched BAD torpedo's, grieving is FIRING those torpedo's. And it's very very very rare I ever have to dodge ( or steer into ) friendly torpedo's from player of comparable or higher skill levels ( except when playing with KptzStyzyga ). So yes, the problem is indeed in bad judgement, of those firing. But sadly this won't ever change as those people according to dunning-kruger will never accept they are the actual issue here. Which is why we stick with the SIMPLE rule even baddies can follow: don't shoot if an ally can intercept your torpedo's. Sadly, baddies suffering from dunning-kruger think they have leeway in this, that they can 'judge' gameplay moments and STILL fire those torps because they are not baddies incapable of making such decisions. Just quoted to show what part I mean, you're using ME as proof of grieving which is..... just utterly ridiculous to the point I'm already rolling off my chair reading it ( almost... ).

I would suggest that a below average player should learn to deal with criticism in an online multiplayer game. And yes I would also argue that people who are below average, displaying a lack of understanding/mastering of existing game mechanics, can not have opinions which are worth much about said game mechanics. How can you have an opinion about something you don't understand, other then having the opinion: I don't understand it so I need to learn more? It would be ludicrous to think otherwise. In game chat not having anything to do with 'skill' is such a terrible backward statement. Why should chat not be influenced by actual skill? You expect good players to not say something because they are good and understand the game, and yet they should not tell other players they are doing things wrong? Ofc, flaming is bad, but saying: Tirpitz, why are you sniping at 20km and not pushing in to support team in getting one of the 3 caps in this domination match? is usually met by said Tirpitzes by 'stfu noob l2p'. So it's not the good players which flame, it's usually the baddies, who don't want to learn the game ( because dunning-kruger means they don't realize how terrible they are ).
-
And you're suggesting that those torps are 'ok' just because I will 'steer into them' instead of dying to enemies to avoid them? Because those are explicitly the torps I am describing, the kind which either kill me directly OR indirectly. And yes, I feel it's perfectly normal to then choose those torps as means to die, over avoiding them and dying to anything else. Please, don't try to turn this into: second line torps are ok it's the people in front who are to blame. If you do, I will have to start resorting to using images to express myself

That is true, but most Germans I know speak English as well so it's still more limiting by casting in one of the European languages other then English don't you agree? It's just a suggestion, and as said I don't expect it to be changed just because I say so ( lol ) I just wanted to start a discussion if possible and see where others are on this subject. Just because I'm Dutch and I can follow most German because the languages are alike ( well... somewhat ) doesn't mean people from France or let's say Italie or Greece, can also do the same. While I'm sure most of those people will be able to follow this in English. And there might be quite some interest from people from countries outside of where the caster is from ( or the team which is playing ) and all in all I just feel it would reach more people overall. Either way, as I said, it's just my 2 I am enjoying this cup as viewer a lot, thanks for all the hard work and quality gameplay

The problem is this game doesn't have the playerbase to handle more complex 'rules'. And as you say, there is not enough oxygen on this planet to support an argument about which player's torpedo's eventually were 'bad' and which were 'good' as those involve 'intent' and 'intent' comes from having insight in the game and sadly dunning-kruger shows this is not a viable discussion to have. Better stick with the clear rule: your torpedo's, your responsibility. Not 'fault', to negative perhaps for those with good intent, but it's still a fault assuming behavior from your allies to not be idiots and sail into even correctly launched torps to aid said ally. In that sense, I have no other conclusion then stating it IS indeed always the fault of the one firing ( even if just for not taking into account the tremendous possibility of your allies being stupid themselves ).

I really wanted to watch WGP2W vs OM but the vod is in German. My German is sufficient to follow it but it's borderline. I know it's not possible with current schedules and all, but I would have really enjoyed it if matches were all covered in English. Not because off anything nationalistic, I don't think that has a place in gaming anyway, but because most people speak and understand it so you're reaching a broader audience. If promoting competitive play is one of the goals, reaching as many people as possible seems to be a intricate part. What you are looking for as player/caster should not be your only concern. Criticism is good, 'calling people out'... even when you just use that term to describe your casting style, it's pretty telling. There are people watching who do not play competitively, and will most likely never will. Flaming people, or 'calling them out' is not helping anyone achieve anything, you're not making people more interested in the gameplay and you're not helping the audience understand what is going on ( eg: criticism entails explaining the mistake and perhaps even offer alternatives, 'calling someone out' is just telling someone did something badly ). I didn't watch that match I admit so I am not sure of what exactly was said in the commentary or what was said in the twitch chat, just wanted to give my 2

Just to add to this: I WILL gladly steer into torps which are fired badly, it's the only way the 'players' behind me learn to not do it. I rather get teamkilled by these 'players' then I dodge their torpedo's just to be deleted by the enemy. And yeah, baddies will now try and make it look like I was doing 'bad and risky plays' and that is was my 'fault' for being in front close to the enemies, and that his 'perfectly valid second line torps' are not the actual issue here... but hey, most people with an actual working brain will see this is a fallacy.
