That's actually not a bad suggestion even if I personally have not much faith in the effectiveness of asking people to do their own research The guide needs updating though, B hull Izumo doesn't give better shell performance anymore afaik, and there been changes to modules which aren't incorporated.

Crossing the T - bringing all guns to bear -> works when each hit could be debilitating and having all guns on target increases this chance. The game is arcade though, we have health bars and single shots are not game ending except in the case of a detonation. In game, it's more important to angle and negate incoming damage then to have all guns shooting.

I happily shoot even 152mm AP in the sides of BB's if their guns are pointed somewhere else and I am close enough. What you're complaining about is just the only viable method of engaging BB's with smaller ships unless the BB's are terrible or when the game is already won. Thank god you added that fires aren't OP though
-
Yeah and that all means diddly squat, a game should be balanced and not favor one class because they are more iconic. Well, unless WG want's to rename the game to World Of Battleships
-
You meant the BB's which were sidescrapping behind some island at B4 when we had zero of the caps, or the BBabies which were sniping from the 1 line when we were 500 points behind?
-
I am actually stealing some of their images for future use on EU forums..

Last time I talked about it with him he was pretty close, certainly after being linked to a post on RU which said WG used fixed tables for air density at different altitudes. How else you you think he know the impact angles? edit: You're right, I agreed on that in the first reply: you can't really answer that question without doing it for each individual ship and each individual shell being fired at it. It can't be answered in this thread, but linking to fnord_disc's thread with the penetration plots would be informative I think.

That was a mistake, micro patch was released to remove training room from vanilla game.

http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/48176-shockpirats-guide-to-bbs-ijn-tier-8-10/ section 3.5 -> managing incoming damage It is already there. Just as the forum search function.

And THAT is a BETA tester ffs.... omg the trolls are real ( I mean, that can't be a serious thread can it... tell me it's not serious, please!!!!! ).

fnord_disc has derived a formula which matches or comes extremely close to the actual implemented ballistics calculations. I think he wanted to know at which ranges ships are 'invulnerable' aka where their side armor is strong enough to bounce incoming shells and where they are close enough to prevent plunging fire through the deck armor. 'Invulnerable' because they aren't really invulnerable but their citadels are best protected. But this can't be answered roughly as it depends on which ship and which ship is shooting you.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"

What if I could make a New Orleans work just as well in randoms as the actually good CA's, why shouldn't that raise my 'rating'? Isn't the rating supposed to show the relative performance? -
I used to have high karma, and I was actually quite 'proud' of it. Then I heard I was getting forumite's boosts every game I met one.. So I asked them to stop, and now I'm usually around 10-20 Karma and I don't even care about it. I rather have zero Karma but the feeling I'm honest to myself. Btw, isn't it 'odd' that WG removes the +1 -1 from the forums because it was 'toxic' but then adds it the game And as you said, 'plays well' ... I see so many good players who say they aren't complimented for being good players and carrying their teams... no ofc not, because they get reported for being good. Because yes, being good also means you know better then most of the others. People don't like being less then someone else, so they show their spite through the reports. Good system Comrade, well thought out and not at all exactly the same as the +1 -1 buttons we had on the forums

Another FAIL then. Damage should NEVER count higher then winrate. Also it's BS to 'prevent' padding by being able to make a bad ship work for you, sounds like typical FAIL to me. -
(1) Yeah... that is why the damage from torpedo's is so much less than from HE or AP or anything right? Because torps are reliable and people don't have WASD keys on their keyboard (2) Well you could argue that playing them right means you win more.

Is there any ( Engrish ) description of the metric ( how it's calculated )? -
You had a good game, obviously the enemy were just salty and they reported you out of spite. Happens all to often, don't worry about it, it has no real meaning anyway.

Cruisers are becoming more and more pointless
mtm78 replied to bloodynicknames's topic in General Discussion
Well my main issue with games with more than X BB's is that my situational awareness ( or patience.. ) doesn't allow me to not get into a position where I'm being shot from by BB's from different angles. And I don't mean angling to bounce shells, but angling to minimize profile. With less BB's on the enemy team I can more freely move over the battlefield using my concealment if needed to disengage. It just makes the battles more dynamic and less static. You're right though, cruisers on lower tiers are much better counters for DD's ( without taking into account radar ) because they are generally CL's with quick rudder shift and high rof guns. BB's at lower tiers also have less range and certainly much worse accuracy, so cruisers can get away with more 'mistakes'. But I don't want CA's on high tier to play that way ( RN CL's on the other hand ). Same goes for when in the future we might get an USN CL line. edit: also, yes as a competent BB against an organized set of cruisers, you just won a meal at an all you can eat buffet. Now add lots of teamwork to the cruisers, coordinating fire on targets which have no repair available and burning them to the ground with focused HE + fires. Those games are the best ( when you're in a cruiser... ). -
'Not just' -> hey I never reached rank 1 in any season, care to dare WG to gib me one and see if I can reach 66% with her?
-
You're only telling ME this because I have 300+ games in the thing, aren't you
-
Ofc I had games with nearly two million, like yesterday in Lenningrad But on average my playstyle seems to revolve around being unattractive to shoot at The people who got it and heard about my fears if I should still grind for it were pretty blunt about it: nerf was ok, still dishing out 100k+ games like no tomorrow
-
CV's have no 'tanking damage' calculation involved ( from the RU Q&A thread ). And my DD's love tanking damage, as everything in a radius around me is considered tanking I often have games with half a million tanked damage ;) You won't hear me argue about the abundance of BBabies on forum

Is Wargaming thinking about long-term support for this game?
mtm78 replied to PhantomSailor's topic in Archive
Yeah, nope that's would be incredibly stupid seeing large part of WG's playerbase actually runs on 'old hardware'.- 25 replies

Being good isn't needed, actually being good usually just puts you in better positions. The 'cheat' accusations have more correlation with RNGezus than skill... well I mean positive skill, ofc the main reason is the lack of skill on the one making the accusations
