You're a competitive player, you're not the majority I think. That's a lot to assume, we have no numbers though either way ( WG has player retention figures but would be crazy to share them unless they were favorable ). Again, not sure. Only WG has actual numbers, but I think you're not really the definition of a 'new player'. Remember WoWs is a steam game now. And while you had 'CV hate' topics, you did see CV's in competitive, something you will not see in the future if we're judging on KoTS. Also, pretty sure total player numbers might be 'up' but that isn't the same as active players. And again, we don't have much insight into player retention but I hear enough complaints in game, here, twitch, discord servers and what not. -

It is a team game, there are plenty of team games with a random MM queue. And yes, it is people not caring about how crap they are and how much they ruin the fun for others. As long as THEY have fun, they just don't care about others. That is basically a coop mentality but sadly WG give these 'players' an economy in which they can survive even in randoms. Maybe people with no interest in learning the game should stick to coop ( or play operations against the AI.. though I expect this might be to hard for a lot of people ). -
Classic. And I agree with everything you wrote.

See below... I consider RN CV's the easiest to deal with in my DD's, they seem to have issues getting any consistent damage if you play evasive enough. Just because you met a potato CV who don't know how to use his planes and feeds you till you can't be fed no more, doesn't mean it has good AA. That's like looking at your max damage games only and using them for balance, neglecting that those dmg numbers were fed by enemy team misplaying enough and own team being bad enough to allow you to rack up those insane numbers.

Just one comment really, win rate helps to interpret other statistics. If I see someone with high avg dmg per ship but low win rate I know he's not applying his damage to the right targets for instance. You need win rate as statistic since it's ultimately the most important one, you play to win, you don't play to farm damage, farm XP, or generally press battle just to sail to the map borders and enjoy the scenery. -
The problem with people who don't know how the client-server model works, when they see those cheat sites they get fooled into thinking there are cheats which simply are fake. Mods which offer 'radar vision' so you can see 'unspotted' ships - total bullocks. The client isn't send data about ships it does not need to display. Mods which claim to 'increase cooldown between consumables' -> nonsense, server side timers not client side. That mod which I think drew lines on top of the torpedo model so it showed their path, or mods which draw where shells will land -> they don't offer much a decent player can do on his own ( see where torps are going and judge best ways to dodge by dispersion of salvo ). Aim assist, we had a time when it was freely available through the forums here even... it's basically useless if you're a decent player, besides giving real time acceleration/deceleration information which you normally only would get in a ship who also has torps ( using torp indicator ). When it was available I am curious as to whether WG has numbers on % of people using it, and if it increased their historical hit ratio. For a decent player, it should make almost no influence, it might even cause people to aim worse as you 'trust' the indicator and it's not that trustworthy. Human brain is remarkably good in seeing patterns and predicting them, and the lead indicator distracts from that process. Maybe a really bad shot will gain from it, but not a decent one I think. But that's about it. Ow wait, 'wall hack' where you can see through islands? Use the mod from WG's Modstation called 'Navigator' it shows relative angle of locked enemy ship which basically gives you the same information. Again, someone who thinks he needs those cheats to play the game is likely still bad even when using them.

That shows quite some ignorance, as the current tier 4 CV spam is what new players will see and will have to decide on if they want to continue playing or not. Also tier 5 surface ships meet tier 4 CV's, your 'rule' seems a bit arbitrary. -
You can, I don't have T-61 ( not yet, hope to get it someday .. ) I was comparing AA dps on both ships on both short and medium range. With how AA works now this just leaves CV skill and use of priority sector ( and dfaa on Monaghan ).

Nope. Win rate in randoms is far from obsolete, only true argument is that bad players would like to hide theirs because they think it's the RESULT of their in game 'choices' aka statistics which causes other players to loath them, when it's in fact these actions which cause this. Because WG's way of setting up economy does not force people to learn to play. Hiding win rate would not solve this, in the contrary more people would assume 'wr says nothing' / 'wr is luck' / wr = team rate and more of that nonsense Good players do not really care about the win rate, it's the actions in game which lead to either winning or losing, gaining win rate or dropping down. I check my stats, I won't lie, but they serve as reminders of what I seen in game. The main reason statistics could in a sense do me more harm, is that it frustrates the hell out of me losing games which shouldn't have been lost ( but this goes for everyone in a random MM ). And seeing that reflected in win rate is annoying. But if it happens when I myself did not play well to my own standards, I can accept it a lot easier. And then those same statistics actually help ( well not the win rate, but the other indicators like PR flawed as I think it might be ). Clan recruitment? I thought coop was the true fun mode? For some at least. I expect random battle players to posses the 'I want my team to try at least as hard as I do' mentality. Or operations for that matter. Anything which you play 'with friends' against the AI. If you play a team based multiplayer game, don't you at least need to wish yourself to not be a burden on your team? I understand what you're saying, and I agree with the notion that there is a toxicity created by having really bad players randomly get distributed in teams, but overall the issue imho is not that this happens, it's rather that the percentage of these players in random MM queue increased compared with when the game started. Just as the amount of people with multiple tier X's all grinded in coop, which now play them in that MM queue, I blame these kind of players mostly for the steamroll games in any tiers not just tier X. -

Those are not duds 1. sounds like a bug, got any screenshots / replays I bet support would like them 2. same 3. server desync -> bug. Same happens with shells, you don't call those dud shells suddenly. -
Tier 7 has limited amount of radars, so Minekaze won't meet it often. One or two radar ships on enemy team can be played around in a DD. Also, Minekaze ( well in my case Kamikaze since I got that one so why play Minekaze ) does exceptionally well still if uptiered. Captain skill influence is the same when you're same tier, and facing premium ships if highly dependent on intended use by the player. Is he training up a new captain, you're in luck. If he's farming elite commander XP on his 19p tier X captain you're basically f'd as a new player. Many people have sad it would be more fair to newer players if in lower tiers captain skills had less effect. CA can't angle against same tier BB, so there isn't really a difference there. WASD mitigation is always your best bet. Just wanted to reply to some of your points.

I second this, though I admit I'm still trying to salvage my solo wr I hate it being sub 60%.... but divisions are great for WR farming, and thus having a better manageable blood pressure. -
Kidd and Friesland are the current good small botes which can do a middle finger against CV's. T-61 great makes me wonder about the level of carrier you're meeting. my Monaghan has better AA and can't touch upon those DD's ability to make CV life miserable.

Sadly by that time my blood pressure might already have caused a cardiac arrest Can I blame him for sailing to all the wrong places during the whole game resulting in him being full hp last one alive of team being totally useless? 38%, 23k avg dmg I was asking him whole game, pinging map where he should go, and yet he went on all the wrong sides of all the possible islands, avoided all the objectives, failed to push a Nagato which was threatning my flank which meant I had to give up a tactically strong position to defend the middle cap, but instead thought that sailing straight on the A line until everyone but him was death, enemy had taken middle cap and now had both cap advantage as well as map control and more ships. And the worst thing is... he is totally oblivious to his wrong doings, probably has chat turned off or if he does not, he's a pro at ignoring his allies asking him to stop being useless ( by suggesting things he might do instead ). -

You feed on mistakes from your enemies, doesn't mean trying to carry the in your team is any more bearable to do game after game after game without pulling out your hairs due to their sheer stupidity. I understand OP position. But frankly I just needed to reply since I'm obsessed with my post count 1. True 2. You play tier X almost exclusively, which might influence your perspective on the game as a whole. CV spam qualifies for this on low tiers, and I guess tier X has it's Smolensk spam atm, but both should be 'fixable' if WG cared... 3. You're part of playerbase, do you include yourself in this description or only other (specific) people? 4. The pathetic part is the players who ruin meta by refusing to l2p. The backline campers, the overextenders who die in 5 minutes. People are just not putting in any effort to learn to play, and it's been getting worse in that regard since the game was released. -

Really? From you? But didn't you read, he is grinding the Hosho himself. -
Game after game this morning, in battleships not knowing how to play and ruining the game for everyone else. For example this gem from the game before I was forced to turn off the game due to sheer frustration. At this point, he is full HP, sailed from F9 on the right of the island on D10 to the north of the island on B9 to the north of the island on A7-A8 all the way left on the A line till he finally turned down on the 2 line when I just died trying to defend what were our only two caps and the only thing which gave us a tactical advantage were being overrun since this guy went on all the wrong sides of all the possible island ignoring all the objectives in the game and generally playing like he earned his hard fought low 40's high 30's win rate. *edit it's 38 sorry my bad Again the same, a game before. Full HP King George left as 'last man standing' in his proud battleship. This is the correct topic to complain about people not knowing how to play right? Or did it only apply when people think their destroyers were the one's who 'misplayed'?
-
Ahh ye, well WG can always renew collab at some point, if they think they will earn enough from sales to make it worth while. Yuki -> haven't seen much from her review wise, wasn't paying attention. Just thinking maybe Shinonome is a decent torp bote for low tiers? I don't like mine, as with all IJN DD's you mostly punish mistakes and if enemy doesn't make them you're suffering to compete with other destroyers.
-
Why isn't she coming back? I didn't think she was overpowered at all ( though anyone not using 100mm hull is playing her wrong ). Then Aigle is fun, but is a bit harder to get decent results with. You got the tier VI USN Monaghan or something like that, it can roleplay torpedo DD ( though I been using it as normal USN DD... works fine that way ). Sims is mostly fun in domination where you can force enemy DD's into cqc easier, Lenningrad is just a typical VMF DD but with usable torps on tier VII.
-
Cossack is a nice all rounder, Harekaze is a nice ship as well since you have ijn 100mm and decent torps + good concealment ( + for her fetish you can mount trb ).
-
Why you all talking Mig's, don't you know Sukhoi makes the better planes? Su-33 is the only real choice, anything else would not bring enough balance. This is also historical the airwing on the Admiral Kuznetsov which is obviously the Russian tier X carrier.
-
WG sadly made your nation's BB's focus on High Explosive, sorry you're disqualified I voted for weebs I mean IJN. I think OP should add a voting option for ARP and HSF as individual choice as well, the anime players surely feel as left out as Europeans.
-
Yes this happens. But this usually does not happen to a 'bad' player, so players like these would still win more games and thus advance faster. The star saving mechanic does not offer anything but a toxic element to a mode which should be about teamplay and skill there in.
