    WG 2017 plans

    Folks can we please bang on about new ship lines! That's what we need, more variation in ships so we have more varied tactical choices ( like WG is spoiling us with the new captain perks ). That will make the gameplay more fun, and when we have fun we could even play some PvE scenarios when we're bored sorry, I couldn't resist edit: I should put a somewhere but I can't find a proper placement to indicate the sarcasm

    Timer on F button messages needed

    Banned? LOL really? You think that people would get banned over that? Even people with a chat ban can spam the F commands and ping the map whole game. You shouldn't ask for a ban, you should ask to fix the chat ban system ( just one minor flaw compared with how intrinsically broken and open for abuse those report options are ). Just enable 'special' people like that spammer to get a 'special' kind of chatban, one which prohibits F keys as well. Not for normal chat banned people, they don't need to be punished more right now with how incredibly broken the report system is anyway. But those F spammers should get their special treatment. ps. First thing I did with the F commands is disable the voice over. You really need to hear that stuff? I can read, I don't want those messages to distract me from my gameplay unless I got time to read the messages anyway.

  5. Longer smoke was because low tier USN DD's all had very low range torps at first, so they had to use offensive smokes for both torpedo attacks and for HE spamming. But they gave them longer range torpedoes later on without making their smokes last shorter. That is, iiirc

    I can only track it through AS to AlertIndication.yawToNearestEnemy which is called through python ( haven't been able to decompile the python files since Lesta closed that off due to not wanting malicious mods having access to their entire python game engine ) but if Tuccy says it's provided server side then yes, should be hack/cheat proof.

    After looking at the actionscript code later it did indeed appear to only be used for rotation calculations for the indicator, the AlertIndication.yawToNearestEnemy is provided through python and if you say it's provided server side ( like it should ) that's a good reassurance.

    You know there is a statistics mod which will track your current game session ( wr avg dmg, no wtr or such ratings which imo are also not that important ) That way you don't have to check a website after every game I usually don't even look at it unless I'm feeling I'm having a terrible session or a really really good one.

Wouldn't really be different right, still two keys and CTRL + right mouse is not a hard combination ( guess I just don't play AAA specced cruiser much recently so it bothers me when I forget to use right mouse button and the plane just flies out of viewport before I can focus it ). edit: What might be 'easy' is for WG to move some functions from existing mods into the vanilla client. Ship names on minimap being the first I would request to be in the standard client.

    I gotten arsonist in my fist game in a Mahan on the PTS, and yes the BB was using RPF as the middle fire encompassed his entire superstructure. But I was lucky that stray shells ( yeh for USN DD shell arcs ) hit both the aft and bow sections, and he just blew his dmg repair on a flooding from my torps. It will be harder to burn them down but it's in no way impossible. I mean I was against it at first as I didn't think. and still don't think, it's needed. But it's not going to make BB's invulnerable. edit: just to make clear, it was an enemy Gneisenau which together with a Kiev and another ship ( not sure which one, can't remember and that BB died pretty quick ) which were attacking an allied Fuso. I started a fire on Gneisenau while closing in with them, he blew repair on single fire and I put him on fire again, then I focused on dealing with the Kiev and our Fuso was in the mean time taking chunks out of the Gneisenau as well. Between the Kiev being spotted I kept sending HE on the way to the Gneisenau and got another fire, then killed the Kiev and torped the Gneisenau, the Gneisenau was on pretty low health when he blew his repair and heal and I was lucky to get those 3 fires on him while he was using his heal. Think min req. is 40% of his HP and I might have done 40.000001% or something.
  12. True and true, I just find it highly annoying ( moving to edge of screen ). And yeah it would be kinda distracting if you just want to change minimap options and your entire viewport moves around Maybe I should just assign a macro to one off my mouse buttons I don't use, so that it does CTRL + right mouse button... ( not 100% if that's even allowed, 'automating' stuff like that might be against EULA.. ).

    Lol yeah, later on he talks about RDF which is not historical in any way as all ships during the war continuously sailed under radio silence. For communication between ships in a fleet, signal flags, or at night light signals, were used. I do like the radio silence 'counter' it was proposed some while back already but it gotten some fairly decisive negative responses, as teamwork provided by DD's spotting for the bigger ships is an intrinsic part of gameplay. Removing it would not be a good way to counter RDF, though I do agree that IF WG would push this through, Radio Silence would be the only way to keep certain ( torpedo destroyers ) viable in the game. But the best option would just be to not include RDF in the first place, and adding a crutch to it to counter it which would impact just as immensely on gameplay is just not going to be good for the game.
  14. : IJN the nation which should historically have the best long range torps in the game, has to be played 'more skillful' ( ) while Gearing can safely torp from outside of any radar range. I have no kind way of saying this: WG you got the wrong idea if you think community accepts this BS reasoning. No CTRL just unlocks cursor, you can't move viewport unless you also press right mouse button. What you described is actually how I would like it to be ( wasn't even my suggestion btw, I just liked it a lot reading it )

  17. The moment you press CTRL you go into free viewport movement ( for which you have to press right mouse button now additionally ). This would allow selecting bomber squadrons you want to focus your AAA on, as well as DD's which you want to focus with secondaries, a lot quicker/simpler ).
  18. SC is just divided in a left and right part if you see the ship broadside, not a 'low and high' part. Well that's how I been putting them on fire at least so I guess I must be doing something right. Either way it's just semantics I guess

    No he just said basic pen of HE I was wondering about the +30% perk in combination with either 19mm base pen vs 17mm base pen. I know I should just look it up myself but I am lazy ( and playing on PT atm.. I got my [edited]kicked by a Shima in my first Fletcher game ). Which kinda hurt my pride

    But wouldn't 19mm + 30% be better then 17mm + 30% or are there no armor plates off relevant thickness?
  21. It would be lower risk for far lower hit ratio but it would make for picking when you need to take that high risk. Gearing and Fletcher are both to good a torpedo boat ( well, Gearing has range but way less potential dpm ofc ) to offset being better at everything else as well ( except concealment but the gap there is not big enough ).
  22. Center hull is not a fire zone, only bow stern and superstructure ( which is two zones if they don't take FP )?
