    Well that is why I replied to it, I like these discussions but the proposal on it's own merits has some 'issues' associated with it. It's just a theoretical discussion about a proposed game mechanic replacing the current one dimensional fire effect. I would like it if the game was more complex, it would feel more rewarding then. But for casual players, complicated game mechanics are a big no no. And WG makes games for the casual majority, and not for us

    That is all true, I just remember reading that statement somewhere, that they counted the engagements separately instead of as one. Also, I don't think the Battle of Punta Stilo had any ships actually sunk? Anyway, I didn't want to start a yes/no debate in this thread and I frankly don't have enough knowledge about naval history on what would constitute a singular engagement and what would constitute as a series off individual engagements. I do think the Battle of the Java sea was the biggest decisive engagement since Jutland ( where Jutland's decisive outcome would be that the fleet never really left port after it ). Or was Battle of Punta Stilo in the same way decisive, did the RM never leave port after it?

  7. Kitakami was removed because it is still the single ship in the game with the highest amount of team kills. And yeah, it could not stealth torps, and anytime a Kita was visible EVERYONE ( with a brain ) would focus the crap out of it. I'm fine with either as long as the ship is balanced properly and fun to play

    Well the debuff's wouldn't really be fun I guess from both perspectives, esp. not if you make them actually useful. A 30% reload debuff on a 30s reload = 39s reload. A cruiser doesn't really care if a BB has 30s or 39s reload, when it shoots there always the chance of a citadel or two. That is why fire is good, it doesn't only damage BB's, but it also makes them scared and that's good for game balance. Sadly they aren't scared enough, or we wouldn't have the excess of BB's in most matches. So, to make it worth while, it would have to be longer... or even more, total. Frontal part on fire, you loose forward guns, middle on fire, your AAA crews are not busy shooting at planes so no AAA ( I wouldn't know about cutting engine output from deck fires, it sounds like it should stay tied in with flooding if you'd ask me ). Secondaries affected to, just as torpedo launchers. And having a ship which is is such a 'stunned' state where it has zero utility, well that's not really fun either for the guy playing it. Maybe current fire concept isn't as bad as it sounds come to think of it. Sure it could be tweaked with dmg ticks like they are doing with flooding, but the overall concept I think is solid. Though I do like talking about possible concepts for replacement

    I like this in a way, it's the 'shell shock' effect from WoT arty ( well what they been talking about for ages right... ). But wouldn't it lower dmg potential towards BB's a lot, in order to compensate for that IFHE should be standard ( aka the HE damage itself should be able to compensate for the loss of fire damage ). BB's already live to long ( well played BB's which know how to manage heal and dmg control ), with these changes you lower their effectiveness a bit ( BB's don't need sustained DPM, they have alpha ).

    Nope, also guilty. I also play DD's a lot, more then BB's. But mostly cruisers. Btw, i'm enjoying Hindenburg more recently then Zao, I just have had Zao for a long time ( was my first tier X ). Also, I played Shima because I can't stand being bad in it... but I moved my good captain a few tiers down now and shima is parked in port chained with a big lock so I don't take her out by accident That doesn't mean I can't be impartial when I think about game balance, and well there is a reason people hate the German DD's ( for the most part ). Shortest smoke in game, and concealment debuff bigger then fire range... -> FUN to play right? And it should be fun to play, that is the main goal of balancing, to make each class both capable and fun.

    You don't care about the class you play the most? Ok, if you say so. Ow, and you play DD's the least so wanting to remove invisi fire from DD's doesn't really sound impartial. You also don't have a Zao or do you?

    Mutsu seems to scale a lot with player skill, not sure I would recommend a tier 6 BB with bad armor to a 'newbie' captain?

    True that I stopped at Ognevoi back when surviving the first 5 minutes without losing both turrets was a miracle, got back into them and now also have a Tashkent which I btw actually like... Idk why people call it the Trashcan, gun's are stronk and it finally get's semi decent torps

    No, you won't get the same captain points as you have on the other ship, it's like all freebie captains most likely 3 point commander. All you could gain from the split is a free captain retraining.
  17. Because dealing damage is secondary to game objectives ( like, winning by points, securing cap points and so on )? edit: just to add, my dmg is going up lately, but my wr is going down. Should I be happy about that? Hell no, I want to WIN, that's the objective of the game isn't it.

    Thinking about I remember the discussion about it was that the encounter of the RM was not ONE engagement but several which would make the Battle of the Java sea the biggest singular engagement. That was said as reason somewhere iirc.
