  1. Not directly. We don't have shared rewards based on spotting like in WoT, they should add it. We don't have rewards for DD's which smoke allies. We don't have a quick command menu ( carrousel menu ) to facilitate teamplay / working together. There are so many things which DO need adding/fixing, but instead WG is listening to BB Kevin and is slowly removing all incentives for BB Kevin's to have to actually learn the game, it's quite sad really.
  2. Yeah since only open water shooting is 'fun' right. Point and click and pray to RNGesus Shooting from behind islands AND being effective takes actual skill you know, you have to have minimap.exe installed, and situational-awareness.srv should be running as well. When both of those are being executed, they can start tactical-gaming.bat which leads to so many fun and engaging encounters. And it's a FAIR mechanic, as you know those who do this usually aren't BB's with armor. hitpoints and heals. So again, removing part of the game which would again lead to more comfortable gameplay for BB Kevin. So again, not what we need, or what even should be looked at to be changed, unless you want to favour BB Kevin. Or, you want to make cruisers and dd's viable by increasing their armor / hitpoints ( making the whole 'historical relativity' in classes a thing of the past )? Or, let's make them really really fast... it's not like BB Kevin can't learn to lead a bit more though. DD's, especially gunboat DD's, need to be able to shoot from smoke... and shoot over islands if they can. And that's fine, it doesn't produce campy behavior it's BB Kevin who produces campy behavior because he doesn't posses map knowledge and a basic comprehension of teamplay concepts ( aka he doesn't know how to support his team ). The same can be said by other classes btw, it's not just BB Kevin it's DD Dave and CA Clarice as well. And you can not fix that by simplifying the game over and over and over to make it so they don't need to learn, the game will lose it's appeal in the long run. Instead of whining and crying about smoke, people should learn how to deal with it. Heck there is even some guy around here claiming he farms most of his kills on 'no skill static gameplay inducing' players who sit still in smoke', yet he still thinks smoke causes static gameplay even when it's so easilly countered ( by his own admission ). Smoke isn't the issue. Shooting over islands isn't the issue. The game should teach/reward people actually learning the gaming mechanics. The game AND it's community should stop trying to cater to BB Keven / DD Dave / CA Clarice and stop catering to the lowest denominator. Shooting from smoke or from behind islands is even less of an issue then stealth firing was, and they both share the same counter: brain.exe.

    Thank you for clarifying. Though I wouldn't know how BB Kevin is dissatisfied right NOW, so staying dissatisfied is again quite the confusing term...

    But it is fine if the part which actually cares more about the concept of the whole game, the part which wants a fun game for all classes, the part which doesn't care much about historical authenticity when it conflicts with having a fun and engaging game, that part could just stay dissatisfied and eventually leave? You sound a bit biased there, 'ridicule' isn't a term used for enforcing a workable in game balance, it's a term which points towards having a preference. Sadly, "private profile" as well.

    Really? You think we get more DD's when you limit BB's, instead of cruisers? Really? And asking for WG to fix class balance... when they been admitting there is a problem with BBKevin's for how long now, and yet everything they done has actually INCREASED BBKevin's popularity? Really?

    And I don't CARE why BB Kevin plays BB's, I just care about game balance. So I would fully support limiting the amount of BB's per game, so Kevin will have to wait in queue a little ( or a lot.. like I said I don't really care ) boo hoo.

  8. Why would you not argue for a change with which you would be happy? It's almost like you're saying: well if we HAVE to change anything, why not this? Which is part of the issue, smoke firing isn't that problematic if problematic at all. Remove it, remove stealth firing, and make WoT on water? Removing tactical elements from the game to make it more appealing for BB Kevin? 1. Removing spotting mechanics = simplifying the game to cater to BB Kevin? 2. Increased dispersion at targets only spotted by others = GOOD suggestion. I would like for WG to toy with this idea. And don't make it fixed values, but a sliding scale. Might be to much work for them though..

  10. Well even after the range nerfs Khebab seems to pretty viable... and BB Kevin usually isn't the one killing it? It does move the entire game into more RNG dependent realms like WoT with it's +-25% pen and damage model ( dispersion = RNG ). Not saying I think it's a good way to go.. even more, I tried using heal on Tashkent and sparing smokes for the team but it doesn't seem that effective as using smoke offensively. So I imagine the same goes for Khaba, and if you remove smoke you should at least give it back it's old range and rof.

    Nah I like it that people have to wait, makes people not throw away their ships as easilly just because they don't like the current matchup for instance.

  13. So, come up with a VIABLE alternative. .. as we thought, nothing viable. You think that is patronizing? And AnuSuaraj's posts throughout this thread haven't come across in that manner at all? Mhm, I need your color off glasses I guess. You do realize that you might say: "I'm done".. But everyone will just understand you don't actually have a viable alternative.

  15. Also give them 50mm armor so they don't get overmatched by 203mm HE and I would like to give this a try... they should all have Khaba guns to ofc That is why we give USN DD's the same VMF PewPew's as Khebabs.

Now come up with how 'defensive' smoke would work WITHOUT nerfing / limiting the offensive output of ships using smokes currently, OR come up with simultaneous buffs for those ships so they are still viable. You do realize my most played class is CA's, and my most played nation is IJN? .... it's always so funny to see people resort to failed ad hominem when they run out off actual arguments. Even though the last part IS true, your proposal would BUFF BB's ( by nerfing others, so even if it's indirectly it is still another buff which they don't need at all ).
  17. You can't use flawed examples to proof anything but the idiocy of example itself. So, if you REALLY think smokes are not a 0% - 100% case come up with an actually workable example.
  18. Don't bother with to many details, it is going over their head anyway. Visible for 1s after firing is just as nonsensical as 'only being able to fire undetected from behind smoke screens'. edit: And just even reacting to their whine is in their mind probably an acknowledgement that there is a 'need' for 'some change'. Sadly if you ignore them WG might think their isolated opinions represent the views of the entire playerbase, so whine patrol it is...
  19. Tirpitz is the best example. When released people considered it OP due to having torpedoes, but now Bismarck with it's superb secondaries is considered way more reliable and plainly 'better'. Yet Tirpitz is still perfectly viable for randoms and isn't considered 'weak'. edit: so WG does know how to do it.... Which is why having Minsk just being a worse Leningrad doesn't make any sense....

  21. He can't even explain how he thinks smoke screens could be useful if you only could shoot from behind them when most nations don't even have smoke blooming long enough to break los... All he seemingly wants is for gunboats to get less damage done as he thinks it is 'low skill' and 'low impact'.
  22. True but the point is to what extent can those ships be 'more competitive' to their regular counterparts before they start hurting the longevity of the game. There aren't many f2p games where you can pay to get a distinct advantage in gameplay and who are around for a long time. But hey this is WG, and they just added the 252u to WoT as well so I guess the answer to that question is: to any extent we damn choose it will since you dumb players keep playing our games anyway edit: also on the 'best' and 'top' -> Hans said BEST, not top ships, BEST ships..
