Meh I don't know about inches, I just know it's over eight or whatever that implies Anyway important bit is that they don't overmatch like Yamato's shells do.
-
@Aotearas are all the old modes still available? Like full screen, full screen windowed, windowed? If so, what you describe shouldn't happen with full screen windowed ( but you will get less fps in this mode ). edit: wasn't me this time I swear Looks like it can't load/access the assets ( which also explains people having issues loading into game now suddenly ). Which gpu's are you guys using, and which os/driver versions?
-
No, unlike Yamato they actually are smaller so they don't lolpen other BB's. No magic overmatch for those '18 inch'

And of the cruiser games, most of them are in IFHE MK. A Admiral Hipper on tier 8 has 32k games played in last two weeks. So, either people don't want to grind for high tier cruisers... or everyone just plays battleships because.. wait.. I really don't know All those cruisers leading to end tier's, and they are beaten by two German battleships one of which is a premium. I am not sure but if this is a grind based game shouldn't this be different?- 330 replies

Last two weeks on WS.today BB tier VIII 343k games past two weeks. ( 145k Bismarck games, 91k Tirpitz games ). CA tier VIII 254k games past two weeks. DD tier VIII 141k games past two weeks CV tier VIII 31k games past two weeks Maybe we could buff German secondaries to help bring their numbers down? Can anyone give me a prediction what will happen when RN BB's are released? Anyone? Please?- 330 replies

Putting aside the wrong translation, you DID say that, and yes on multiple occasions so we all know you felt IJN DD's were fine and it's 'player fault'. And you were wrong. Ofc 'some failed to adapt' it's impossible for that statement to be wrong. And yes shima spam was an issue. But I didn't see spam of ijn dd's on tier 5 - 9 yet every torpedo needed to be nerved. So you accuse me of trolling, but you can accuse me of wanting to change the game so it favors me. Nice to know how this is supposed to work, thank you very much. I find this incredibly weak from a developer, usually that argument is done by someone who ran out of actual arguments. Having to switch ammo a complex new mechanic, heck we should make it so battleships can shoot AP at everything.... yeah that was a cheap shot wasn't it. I am sorry you feel like I was trolling you. But that is a very cheap shot and doesn't serve anything. What I said might be paraphrasing a mistranslation from you, but the messages were from WG and my comments are to WG, not you personally. She can run away while not taking too much damage, is that what you mean? Most good players will tell you Shima is a pure torpedo boat, and therefore inconsistent and generally not worth playing. You don't play Shima to engage other DD's with gun's, they are for self defense. I don't think joe potato will go contest capzone's with DD's which have some means to defend themselves but no real offense vs other destroyers. Good to hear. Hope it doesn't empower more BB joe's in random battles but I'm very well aware there are enough people involved who will put this under attention. addendum: heck monday my break would be over anyway, and since I do feel my gunboat dd's are fun to play who am I to deny myself some fun with hem Who cares about whole picture, I should just keep playing my 'stronk' ships and abuse them being 'stronk' while WG fixes the game- 330 replies

mtm78 replied to mtm78's topic in General Discussion
Most of my posts should be seen in this light, I am mainly an IJN DD player ( I consider my VMF 'destroyers' not really DD's ). Why would I take anti BB torpedoes, it would just mean I can't contest cap's at all and that is one of my jobs. <sarcasm> Or well if we get some german hydro dd's they can do it, but can you tell MM to please not force my Shima to do it when I can't hurt other DD's? Ow that's not possible, well okay then, sounds fun! </sarcasm>- 330 replies

Deepwater torps, so battleships can have more fun because if you want to contest a cap, you can't hurt them
mtm78 replied to mtm78's topic in General Discussion
I'm pretty sure our 3rd party server population numbers sad 60% on tier 8 and close to that on tier 7 at some time in the past but I might be slightly off here, I am sure someone else will post the mapple sirop numbers. edit: still, 40% is way too high and there is a reason for it: battleship counters been nerved, nerved, nerved and you guessed it, not gotten their year of 'some class' so their UI is fun and engaging. And battleships, when compared with earlier, can do everything. Anyway, personal opinions aside, numbers DO indicate an issue. Why do DD's need to choose between battle? That has nothing to do with 'unicum players', I am quite sure you will find many average players thinking the same. This concept would be GREAT, if you could switch in battle, you know, like BB switches to HE if he wants to hurt DD ( well AFTER some changes are done... now BB can do it all with ONE ammo type.... ). No other class other than CV's ( and there it's just ONE atm, and there it's still different because you can still strike with torpedoes if you choose ) have this limitation, and instead of doing this with the class which NEEDS to have something done to limit how much they attract the average potato, it's done with their intended counter..... This sounds like an excuse to nerf smoke in the future, by taking away one of it's counters...... is that 'general perspective'. And it is not just about torping smoke, it's about why would I contest cap zone's when I have UNDERWHELMING gun power in comparison, and I can't even hurt other DD's with torps? Why would I contest caps then? And will that be 'fun' for others, having more dd's which ignore OBJECTIVES and go do "yolo hurr dur this is king off the hill kill all no cap xaxaxaxa"? Not knowing if MM will give you just battleship hunters OR cap contesters, since you can't be both anymore. Yeah sounds a real thing to try. Now, having two torpedo settings you can choose from, that adds skill requirement and I am all for it. Certainly because each of the two options should finally be good at it's job again as they don't need to be artificially limited. Ofc Shima does that, it gun power limits it in doing anything else. Will it be FUN when you have IJN DD's on your team which don't contest caps because they can't do anything there anyway, and enemy has Z52's which can't be touched in cap at all anymore? Ow this 'concept' was also already known to me ( for a long time ) so it's pretty old, and I said at the time the same things as I am saying now. Then again, I been saying things which could have prevented current state for quite some time, so excuse me for not having much hope left if even something as incredibly simple as this goes the other way. Every major balance / mechanic change has made this game easier for average joe. Sadly, average joe likes big battleships the most so you been favouring them in order to keep player numbers up to some degree or well that it is the feeling you're giving large part of community. Maybe you will find lots of new players when you put it in, I really hope the game is a success. But for me, the road has been going downhill steadily, and the few times I been actually happy are nullified by the lack of understanding I think I see in developers about what a large part of community actually thinks and wants. Again, let's hope I'm wrong. Or that at least World of Battleships will be fun to play in two years. You/WG been wrong before, on points which relate to cause off BB meta. I quit ST because of development direction and more so attitude about everything which favours battleships and which makes gameplay more complicated for other classes. I was one of the top players in CBT in games played, I have been playing less and less ( though with the 1 year+ I spend in ST I attended almost all sessions and racked up a lot off time so you can't really accuse me of not caring for the game can you.. ), and unless you/WG can EXPLAIN to me why destroyers need to be limited, why gameplay/teamwork needs to be gimped AGAIN by trying to create such specific roles ( while MM doesn't care about roles, it only looks at classes.... ) which will make meta WORSE not better, and this answer doesn't involve: "we think it will be better", until then I don't think I will feel very driven to hit that battle button ever again. Why would it be better? What would be the downside to destroyers being able to SWITCH in battle? Why do you need to limit destroyer versatility when having hot switchable torpedoes should be all you need to stop gimping one torpedo type because it impacts people it shouldn't? Please tell me this if you want to give me some hope you actually DID think and test this already. The only thing I really want is some hope....- 330 replies

This concept is mind breakingly stupid. Anyone who thinks this could possibly be a good addition to the game has no idea what he is talking about, doesn't understand the current game balance and doesn't have a single digit of trust from me in regard to having working brain cells. It is IDIOTIC. It is the first 3 weeks of summer break here, I got my two kids and I actually promised I would take a break during their prolonged stay ( normally I never have them this long in a row ). That break had nothing to do with this. -

You know it just hit me, the same people responsible for 60% BBaby infestation are responsible for 'choose ammo before battle, is gud for balance xaxaxaxaxaxa comrade why u heff to be mad. it's just BBaby game!' I was going to get myself a Nelson... I'll wait till I see this idiotic mechanic changed. Or when I see BB's will be unable to switch between HE and AP during a battle...... it's same thing tovarish, but don't tell balance department comrade we will get sent to gulag.- 330 replies

mtm78 replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Do we already know the credit earning potential of Nelson? What are the cammo bonuses? Anything captain xp training like? edit: you know what, thinking about the kind of people who would propose destroyers to be FORCED to choose an ammo type before a game and therefore restrict who they can hurt in game, just as when WG seems to think this should perhaps apply to CV's as well, when all other classes can switch between HE and AP and engage all types of targets... those are the EXACT SAME PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE for the current 60% BBaby infestation. Trust = 0%. Don't need to know stuff about Nelson, it's not relevant for a game I won't play. -

Conceilment for Cruisers: how big a deal is it realy?
mtm78 replied to Yaskaraxx's topic in General Discussion
Most of my captains are quite alike. All cruiser have PT, almost all have EM, the one's who benefit from SI have that, others DE ( and sometimes both ). Then EVERYTHING I have has CE, even my Yamato, even my Moskva and even my Tashkent ( though that is what I am going to change, I did fine with Tashkent on tier 8 but I fail on tier 9 and I think I'm not playing cruiser like enough because I didn't spec out of CE yet... ). Khaba was the first ship I never planned to run concealment on. I feel like WG has made very specialized builds very unviable, since you have to give up so much other stuff. Which is good I guess, but it didn't make me spec lots of different combinations. Ofc my DD's have torpedo centered skills ect ect, but that's class specific. If you compare my BB's and my cruisers it would be hard to really tell them apart on most ships ( IJN BB's don't really attract me to spec for AAA or anything other 'exotic' ). Doesn't that site allow you to see the most commonly picked or most 'popular' builds for each ship? I forgot the name.. -

Yeah.. true I guess, if you know how to hug your waifu she is a sealclubber for sure I might actually buy one someday.... maybe. Probably not if they want to introduce a choice for destroyers to choose between being able to torpedo battleships or lighter targets ( BEFORE game... so you can't switch in game.... ). -

Conceilment for Cruisers: how big a deal is it realy?
mtm78 replied to Yaskaraxx's topic in General Discussion
Huh.. which tier seven's have such low caliber main guns? Though if you get around those tiers and up you might as well have AFT to boost your German secondaries and put two Gearings worth of firepower to your battleship ( with manual targeting ofc ). -
Conceilment for Cruisers: how big a deal is it realy?
mtm78 replied to Yaskaraxx's topic in General Discussion
The only cruisers which benefit still from AFT are very VERY low tier seal clubbers ( if you have DE + AFT at this tier, you're a seal clubber, it's not an accusation just a fact I've done it as well ;) ). edit: There is a tier 3 cruiser which is an excellent seal clubber with this setup, well at least I been told -

mtm78 replied to Yaskaraxx's topic in General Discussion
Playing without CE is giving the enemy more chances to catch you broadside as you give up some range to fade out and turn when needed. You can't use a Charles Martel to judge CE since CM is based around max range he spam anyway ( and it is VERY good at that ). Try playing something like a Mogami with 16km range and tell me if CE isn't useful when you need to turn to evade an island so you can't keep kiting away. -
Deepwater torps, so battleships can have more fun because if you want to contest a cap, you can't hurt them
mtm78 replied to mtm78's topic in General Discussion
Well if they implemented it like I think it should: selectable in battle, and effective, it might actually work as they always said they want and battleship players will sooner pick other classes as their inherit survivability is impacted. More so, if the deep draught are slower, it punishes bow on and static gameplay more than it would impact battleships which are played more dynamically. If it's a choice people need to make BEFORE a game it's absolutely useless to even test it, since MM doesn't differentiate between anything but classes atm you can end up with only destroyers capable of hurting one type of ship. This is incredibly harmful for gameplay and shouldn't even be considered. Destroyers need their flexibility in order to be playable, why artificially limit them when no other class has the same limitations? Even AP bombs make more sense as you at least have a chance to do SOMETHING ( they do have overpen damage right? ). Why would I contest a cap in my IJN DD when I'm set up for BBs and can't even torpedo an enemy smoke cloud? Why should I be harmless to battleships because I'm an USN DD and I'm set up to contest cap zone's? This concept is not a way to fix the meta, it will make it worse.- 330 replies
