Exactly! That is why they don't do it. It's about rewarding long term dedication to the 'project', shown in owning end tier content ( most people need premium something to get there, certainly multiple lines, certainly if you don't want to take a very long time to get there ). Next month a grind based mission where everyone can grind as many rewards as your family let's them, but why not allow WG to use their anniversary to show some love to those who shown them love a well ;) -

Confirmation of being bad at the game? You don't react to torps you ANTICIPATE to them. You sound like that battleship player complaining that the enemy CV's bombers drop torps right next to them without giving them chance to evade. -

Hard to say. I know players which been playing for few months and who have all tier X's. Maybe I should have said: dedicated. That should cover both those who get their collections through time and slow grinds as those who get there quicker. I'm not saying you're less dedicated, but you're certainly not in the fast grind category ( I had two tier X with 1.5k battles, Zao en Yamato ). So maybe if reward system is same next year, you will get a lot more rewards as now ( that is, if game is still being played / by you ). addendum: in fairness you should include my cbt stats and then I had 1.1k more battles in which I could try out lines and find something I liked ). -

CW is also going to be tier X, maybe they want to spoil the long time 'serious' players, as I hear people complain a lot that WG caters to the 'play4fun' crowd to much But missions for moar SC is gud idea, I suggest you apply for promotion it's never enough is it :D -

In my setup I got stock Kagero torps and 25% less firepower as Akizuki, I thought losing 25% would be fine because it would be offset by camo value, turning radius and rudder shift. But last time I saw recent stats she is getting a very high win rate ( and not that much damage.. my own damage is terrible it shouldn't lead to the win rate I have on first sight but then considering most of it is done to DD's I guess raw damage doesn't tell the whole story ). I too think that with IJN DD's bad rep overall it's likely only people who knew what they were buying would go for it, but then again I still think Shima is most played destroyer -

Plox change to tier 8 ships, I'm totally unbiased just like the other guy who also has a lot more tier 8's as tier 10 Seriously, this is NOT a bad event. And if it's the same here as on other servers, I will keelhaul everyone whining about it ( unless they don't have any high tier ships, then I'll just tell them to commit to the grind ). -
I wanted to make up an excuse about the issue being hard to spot, but then again if they played their own game ( more? ) they kinda could have noticed themselves. Then again, when this was 'discovered' this was for a long time limited to few people noticing AP worked actually perfect against DD's. So perhaps they thought I was coo-coo because hey their numbers looked 'fine' at the time and it took a long time for playerbase to catch up..... but heck that's not a valid excuse for a serious company either

I wonder how many people who are complaining have even gone through the trouble of installing the PTS and try to make up their own mind not just based on preconception and numbers? If you haven't, you know me you know I like my gunboats / destroyers and cruisers... and I'm NOT getting out pitchforks and torches. I do think some high tier cruisers might need some love as I hear their most optimal play always involved smokes ( and I don't mean Mino... as it's not that affected I think ). Des Moines with rainbow arcs and no real tanking ability -> either use smokes or islands, but using islands is also causing quite static play so maybe WG will buff something like armor so it can better tank instead of just try and hide.

The only reason I feel that the people complaining have a point is because we do have several premiums which seem better as tech tree ships. Some as actually bad though, and some are actually quite balanced ( not that many though ). Leningrad and Minsk, I know what I will choose. Belfast and Fiji I choose Belfast in divisions / try hard more or Fiji for farming moar damage at the expense of not having radar and having less influence on the battle ( I think Belfast is broken, but I guess it's hard to reach consensus even with people who might not be biased since the tech tree ship is also quite good ). Gremmy -> old Gnevny. Old Murmansk vs old Omaha. Arizona vs New Mexico I guess also applies, though I haven't played New Mexico so I can't compare directly. It takes a long time to get rid of such a legacy, even the ship which I liked the most recently and thought to be quite balanced seems to have a very high win rate ( Harekaze ). Does WG really listen to them: probably not as these people aren't really vocal so how could WG listen to them. But they do release content which caters to them, and sometimes this goes at the expense of silver ships if there is a feeling ( since that's easier to defend as stating it as a fact ) that some premiums are just better versions. ikr. But, that is random battle. We're due something which is geared towards competitive play and it's finally coming soon™. Off course I'm talking about clan wars. Random battle has always been about milking community and making a profit, and I don't even mean that in a bad way even if I don't agree with a lot of the specifics. . edit: the rumoured tier X clan wars setup at least excludes premiums right -

That's the thing right, even then I said that when the 'masses' would get to easy battleships they will become more populous and that you would get a circlejerk causing more and more weird balance outcomes. In a way I guess this is unavoidable, the issue I have with is that it doesn't work in the concept WoWs was designed with ( or well, how it WAS designed with ). You can't suddenly switch to a BB heavy meta and say that's fine because you make some changes to facilitate this. Giving BB's more AAA ( and still no finished CV UI ) -> CV's almost extinct depending on tier you play. Giving BB's hydro -> actually understandable, they said they didn't push because of 'overpowered' torpedoes. Problem is, they still don't, because... well because they just don't. Fire Prevention -> skill used in competitive, most certainly there is a good use for it. BUT... most BB's I see with FP still snipe at max range and then just die a little slower at the end because I can get fewer fires on them. FP is good, no doubt. But players are not, and players still complain about fires and HE ( and BB AP WEAK WAAA WAA IF I SHOOT DD IT SHOULD PERM BREAK MODULES WITH ONE SHELL WHAAA WHAA... no really I read some 'player' saying this on forum, I had to blink but yes that is what he said ). And it doesn't really work in randoms. Sure a good player can push even better, but he could have before with good dcp / heal management ( though ofc, to a lesser extent ). Hasn't made the one's crying over fires and HE spam to actually not spend 99% of the battle 10km behind their cruisers. DE nerf. IJN CA HE nerf ( some time ago ), high skill ceiling RN CL's and heck I won't even mention IJN DD line ( oops I just did didn't I ), but then also BB's without citadel, better as cruiser concealment, anti-cruiser heal ( not a bad idea btw in it's core, but you can't give it anti cruiser heal as well as better as cruiser concealment ) and no real glaring weakness. Even IF performance would go down on average, are you REALLY saying that you think game should be balanced around Steve the IS7 driver coming to WoWs to play his Monqueror? Not many games survive if they do that. -

Don't. It's about how ships scale with better players. WG's catering to Steve the IS7 driver coming to WoWs to play battleships IS making them OP in the hands of anyone who is NOT Steve the IS7 driver. Yes, if you're not Steve you should perform decent ( to your own skill level ). Currently there is a lot of things going on which make battleships both breaking the game due to overpopulation, and this overpopulation being caused to being to easy to play. WG during early development has always said cruisers should be mainstay in battle, and that they are the class intended to be the easiest to play ( = get into != get best results with ). Battleships were supposed to be harder as cruisers to excel in. I guess the balance at tier X is the last what is left ( for me certainly but I never was a good battleship player ). -
I feel reasonably ok with this change, off course it could have unforeseen consequences on live but I don't think it will be as bad as some people are making it out to be. I do think this subject was actually well discussed prior to implementation :) That doesn't mean they thought of everything, they can always miss something ( like finishing an UI before releasing a ship ). But I haven't seen the glaring flaw in the concept, something which I can do with other less understandable changes :)

Indeed... so it will be less frequent on live, but how much less I have no idea. Hard to judge meta changes from a PTS, don't think it will have really bad effects tbh though In fact, I was enjoying playing all lines ( BB CL DD ) on PTS. I do play Megazao™ as intended though, as a battlecruiser which doesn't need smoke due to having cruiser concealment, so I don't 'need' smoke's. I didn't play Des Moines, I don't even have it on Live, but that is one of the cruisers I think which benefited the most from smoke play with allied DD's...

You do see it on PTS but it takes balls to charge a Mino's smoke praying that other Mino who was close to him better not be a radar Mino or you're ... royaly... in trouble.

I mostly agree with you ( yeah shocker right ). I am grateful for people paying for content, they keep the game running. In that sense I am happy with the guy described in the opening post. I also don't mind shooting at their broadsides ( I don't like that they get noobprotection now though ). Yes, I do mind having them on my team, but come on who would not? The issue is how much this upsets you.. if you're so fragile you rage quit, it's your own issue not the guy playing '4fun'. So far so good right Now comes my only issue: feedback from players like that seems to be as valuable as feedback from players who spend effort learning how to play. So if this guy goes: "I'm losing all these games in my battleships, WG what's this nonsense please nerf destroyers" -> WG might actually find this interesting feedback and cater to it since this guy spend money on the game right.. Yeah no, that's a step to far. Please spend money, please complain about whatever it is which makes you realize you're crap at the game, and please feel like dev's listen to you.... as long as they actually just ignore that 'feedback'. That being said, I also think it wouldn't be bad practise to limit premiums to tiers you unlocked in silver ships, there are a lot of low and mid tier ships and come on it takes a day to get to tier 5 which is enough to get some interesting premiums ( a weekend to get to tier 6 if you want a mid tier premium battleship ). On the other hand, if MM constantly puts tier 5 against 7 and 6 against 8, why would I recommend getting tier 5 or 6 premiums? tl:dr If i were asked what people should buy it's either low tier premiums to learn the game in, or tier 7 ( Scharnhorst / Belfast / Blys ( maybe Sims if it's a division player ) ). But I will always be blunt and say if you're bad it would be more fun for yourself to stay on lower tiers and learn some of the basics there before moving up. -
This will piss off a lot of Whereaboos if done. I saw a potato which was looking forward to playing broken stuff. No need to tell me I was right :)
