I think we need him as a vocal counterpart to the seemingly gazillions of people who think CVs are heavily underpowered and demand buffs. Current BB-hell is super cozy and comfy compared to the CV hell of 2015.

How the [edited] do you play RU DD in cyclone
allufewig replied to Ysterpyp's topic in General Discussion
When in danger when in doubt, sail in circles, cry and shout. -
Probably I will play Nicolai more than any other ship when 0.6.3 hits. With only time for 3 games a day or so and CVs largely removed as a threat, she will be the perfect ship to relax and still pwn everything.

0.6.3 Public Test Patchnotes (englisch)

You are right, but I never really understood his texts in a way that he claimed winrate was 100% translateable into skill or vice versa. His point was rather to clarify that luck is not one of the factors that have a major influence (after a significant amount of battles). And that is undeniable. The thread is not a scientific analysis about how much skill influences your WR or which other actions or beahviour increase winrate the most. At least that is how I read the post as a whole. Edit: No rule without exception. TEs research has also shown _FTD_ to be the luckiest person in the universe. [edited] that guy.

Jemand eine Idee was dahintersteckt? Also was ist es? -
disturbing move to "pay to win" with prem ships
allufewig replied to bug's topic in General Discussion
Whats so laughable about that? We know these ships are OP more than anyone of those people who just watch them from afar or mindlessly tune in to the Edited chant of this game not being p2win. I pick the premiums that are OP because I want to win more. If they were better balanced I would have bought one or two and then stopped. Now I got 6 or 7 already. Thats exactly what WG wants and thats exactly why they design them to offer a little bonus over the techtree ships. It maybe needs some more time for this tactic to backfire, but one day it probably will. This post has been edited by the moderation team due to inappropriate language- 159 replies

Ramming - the stupidest mechanic in the game
allufewig replied to ajb13's topic in General Discussion
Ramming in WoWs might be an overly simplified mechanic, but it is avoidable and calculable. If you are about to be rammed you usually made a mistake that could have been avoided. Detonations on the other hand are random, unavoidable and devoid of any skill on both ends of the gun. Thats just my opinion but just because something is realistic or did happen in real life does not mean it is a good mechanic in an arcade game. -
Ramming - the stupidest mechanic in the game
allufewig replied to ajb13's topic in General Discussion
Too generalized. Speed and angle of impact of course matter, as well as point of impact and ruggedness of the ships in question. Therefore damage varies widely, depending on circumstances. Certainly not every collision is instantly fatal or fatal at all. I mean there are even ships making a living out of ramming other ships (Sea shepherds "Steve Irwin", "Sam Simon" and "Ocean Warrior" are all 500tons+) without permanent casualties. Just googling for ship collision gives you dozens of examples of heavy ships hitting each other without instant blazing Inferno. It rarely goes without damage of course, but the complete loss of a ship is equally uncommon. "ITS REALLY HEAVY THEREFORE BOOOM KIDDO" is in the same league as "when my 40cm shells hits a DD it should be blown to the moon!" Yeah, sure. -
disturbing move to "pay to win" with prem ships
allufewig replied to bug's topic in General Discussion
The way they do it now is absolutely perfect in a sense. They are making most premiums and "special-ships" better than regular ships by just so much that it cannot really be called gamebreaking or destructive (again, exceptions exist imho), but they still offer a clear incentive to buy them. I myself fall for the traps they set up and sometimes buy these ships. I dislike the policy theyre following, but its not reason enough for me to stop playing. Yet.- 159 replies

Semantics BS. ajappat is right in what he is trying to say. Not all ships are equal, not all ships can be perfectly equal even if the devs tried their best. Balancing isnt an easy job. Most (not all) premium ships being clearly stronger than regular ships however isnt a mistake or lazyness. It is a design decision, a deliberate choice. You need to blind and dumb at the same time not to see the intention there. WG is aiming at our wallets and they are true masters at that.- 159 replies

T7 Premium Kreuzer gesucht - welchen nehmen?

Spass ist subjektiv, Performance weniger. Was letzteres betrifft hast du das richtige Schiff gewählt. -

@Dagobo: Du bist a Zuagroaster, oder? -

Whats the most important game statistic to you
allufewig replied to ziggydog's topic in General Discussion
Yes, thats what Colonel also said and why I pointed at ship-per-ship comparison. But to be fair to genai, thats not a problem of XP only. You also cannot compare a Yorck player with a Belfast player when looking at winrate, because of the significant power-difference of the ships. -

allufewig replied to ziggydog's topic in General Discussion
These two are not really that much of a problem since you can compare on a ship-per-ship basis. Thats more or less what any semi-knwledgeable person did and does anyway. We cannot look at XP because it is diluted by premium-time influence. Its the single problem that kills this stat completely for any player vs player comparison. -

allufewig replied to ziggydog's topic in General Discussion
I think I was pretty clear that winning is the most fun for me. So playing to have fun and playing to win is pretty much interchangeable for me. If I would win 1% more at the cost of 75% of my average XP, I would take it any day since Im not a heavy grinder. XP is no fun for me, hearing the victory sound is. No doubt, XP would be the #1 stat for player-comparison everywhere if it didnt include premium, but sadly thats not the case. You dont know how much of the total games of a player or even a single ship were played with premium active. Some buy it in single days, some buy it when they have a week off, some have it active all the time and some never buy a single day. And everything in between. But even if it wasnt that useless for comparison as it is now, I would still play for the win and not for the XP. -

allufewig replied to ziggydog's topic in General Discussion
I always want to win the games I play. I find that golden "Victory!" very appealing. Winning also incorporates all that otherwise unmeasurable teamplay-stuff. After a few hundred games or more, luck or bad luck is usually just a decimal place in the winrate and therefore negligible. Because math. Unlike in WoT it can be filtered for solo/division (people always act like they dont know or really downt know this) and therefore be used without needing a lot of other stats for context.
