    If the Brit BB's MUST have Radar as their gimmick then let's just have it as gunnery radar (better accuracy at range) rather than an all seeing eye....especially as WG seems to like limiting gun range on British ships anyway! Personally, I would be quite happy to close the range a bit if I got more hits as a result for having to take my lumps until I got into said range.

    Unfortunately, the BB problem can really be laid at WG's door more than the general player base - 'do a grind mission - get a free BB!' 'do campaign X /'mission Y involving doing lots of damage!' 'survive and win X battles' 'buy a High tier BB and easywin!' I appreciate that the Unicums and very skilled players can do almost any mission in any ship but for Joe Average or Mr Potatohead the good old BB is the tool of choice - 'sink X cruisers - no problem! 1 or 2 lucky citadel hits and it's job done , 'do Y amount of damage? - no worries! a few salvo's and we are there. WG could spend more than a few minutes creating missions that would encourage other classes but with the most part it's time for us average types to reach into the tool box and grab that Handy Dandy BB to get the job done

    Seconded and thirded! ​ The tonnage I had to send to Davy Jones's locker was ridiculous.....Timer run out's , kill steals, absolutely ridiculous RNG plus lots and lots of 'special' people who seemed to naturally gravitate to my team (although 'like calls to like' perhaps?) And, as seems to be a pattern lately just when I was about to say "sod this, I'm done" I finally squeaked in under the wire for the win. Between this and the Hunt for the Bismarck I am feeling more than a little burned out.

    Let's not forget it was WG who decided British cl's should have smoke and no HE pretty much forcing a more defensive style of play in most cases! Personally I would have been happier with no smoke but being a bit more tanky and having flatter gun arcs - Historically RN light units always tended to close the range and only retired under cover of smoke when badly damaged. No matter how you try to argue it BB's as a class ARE the more powerful units as WG have designed the game - now IF shell hits could be modelled to reflect actual damage types rather than the generic hit point reduction this might change but it would add a whole new layer of complexity.....flooding causing listing, D/C party having to deal with fire OR flooding rather than the generic 1 click fixes all etc, etc

Got to say, as someone who is wanting the Hood but as the ship only package from most everything I have seen and read regarding the ship itself it seems to be a reasonably well balanced premium - pluses to exploit for the good players and negatives for the potato captains - not p2win especially when people are accustomed to said negatives and start taking advantage of same. However, we need to see the results in a month or so when the general player base (like myself) pick her up in larger numbers.....how many will continue with her and how many will leave her rusting in port?

    Had a couple of fairly grindy days - non premium/non Hood and by doing enough to get the final tasks unlocked I am currently on the last mission for Task 4 plus I have collected the 2 Bismarck camos, so that leaves me five days per Task for the end run. Depending on how much time I get to actually play I should be able to finish the tasks and possibly even finish the missions I skipped for the extra flags.....so. as long as you can get in a couple of hours a day I don't see why it can't be completed by most people.

    Indeed! - say a decent XP boost for Dreadnaught and Fireproof plus Close Quarters Expert to encourage them to really get stuck in.

    Had a good run of unique tokens then started to get the duplicates at around the dozen mark but still picked up more until I had enough to exchange for the missing four Don't much like the Camo personally but I do like the bonus so will just have a hunt around for a suitable reskin.

    Can we knock this whole 'fanboy' thing on the head now? Specificly accusing people of being fanboy Brits without proof of nationality....we are playing this game because we love warships of this era and most of us want all the famous nations and ships. I am also looking forward to French and Italian ships arriving - this makes me a French fanboy? Or an Italian fanboy? Or just someone who thinks these ships need to be in the game! I am equally sure that there are a lot of people from various parts of Europe who want Hood - not just the Brits.

    A purely personal view here - I tried my usual grind up the tree but found that by Caledon I had no desire or will to slog through the Dinae and Emerald as I just could not make them work for me...luckily I had enough free XP to jump to Leander and am able to on average make it work acceptably (around 50k average damage now I have the hang of it - mostly guns!) but I must say to me the British line just feels Wrong! Sitting in a smoke cloud and spamming AP and the occasional surprise torpedo attack is acceptable behaviour for a DD but for a RN ship it just seems the exact opposite of the whole ethos of the Royal Navy whose oldest axiom has always been 'steer towards the sound of the guns!' - if I was able to change anything at all about the line it would be to flatten the gun trajectories to enable then to hit at range and to give them a touch more survivability. I confess it is mostly down to my playstyle but being able to hit the target and survive a hit or two in return with the option to withdraw under cover of smoke and repair and return to the fight seems more in keeping with the RN than lurking in a smoke cloud or camping behind an island.

    I would dare to be so bold as to try and sum up the general expectations of the players awaiting the arrival of the RN - Ignoring those odd few fanboys I venture to suggest that we were waiting for a line of workmanlike jack of all trades, solid without the flash....workhorses rather than thouroughbreds that could do well in the right hands. It seems that WG has instead decided to use the example of WW1 battlecruisers at Jutland as their template - anything hits them and they go boom! If we must close to suicidal ranges to engage anything at least give us flat arcs and short flight times so we can do some damage before we become artificial reefs! Good gunnery and damage control are RN traits, hiding in a smoke cloud is not.

As usual the Nationalistic insults start to fly and the cries of UK fanboi ....most of the people who were eagerly awaiting the release of the RN are multi national not just a few Brits and the bulk of the Brits are concerned NOT because we want some OP Britannia rules the waves super ships but we did expect to get something at least competitive! Low damage, short range and very fragile is not really ticking that box is it? So, people are a little concerned about what we have heard so far - in fairness to WG it is a mammoth task without a line of heavy cruisers to comfortably fill the top tiers and it's made all the harder by trying to come up with some 'unique' national trait As mentioned by others I personally just want something that can at least do what other Cruisers can rather than just skip the entire line as not worth playing.....hopefully WG will manage to come up with something and this will all be sound and fury signifying nothing! In the meantime let's try and avoid starting WW3 eh? - it's only a game after all.

    A couple of thoughts!: Smoke fix - leave it untouched but have a diffuse Flash show when the concealed ship fires its guns - spamming shells from smoke becomes a little more risky HE fix - use penetration and burst charge tables to deal damage with a chance of fire - BUT fire limited to a maximum number! To elaborate: HE still wrecks DD's due to non existing / minimal armour...Cruisers and above Damage related to penetration - on BB's this would mostly be AA and secondary armament and superstructure damage (Although a mechanic might need to be introduced to enable secondary armament destruction) with the same fire chance as now BUT with a maximum number of fires per Game (Representing ships having limited amounts of combustible material rather than being built of wood and petrol!) A suggestion for Fire numbers is CL 2, CA 3 and CV / BB 4 and the Fire number refers obviously to the number of times you can be set on fire per salvo - please note that this still gives the fire chance variable - so, if 3 shells out of the salvo start fires you will still have the fire damage x 3 until the fire is extinguished / burns out. This way HE works as intended allowing Cruisers and DD's to degrade their opponents ability to defend against Air or Torpedo attacks by eliminating AA and secondary armament and by using up their damage party repair ability.

    Might be easier to just fix HE? For example use pen values so DD's still wrecked as no/minimal armour, Cruisers and above if no pen damage limited to Torpedo tubes and AA guns plus a max of Two, Three or Four sets of fires - light cruisers Two, heavy cruisers Three and BB's four (a set is where a salvo hit starts one or more fires) This reflects a more realistic approach as it reflects combustible objects being consumed in the fire rather than the ships being made of wood and petrol. So, depending on HE shell penetration values AA and Torpedo tubes destroyed and possibly secondary armament PLUS the chance of reasonable fire damage - with the RN line in mind this might give them the chance to close within Torpedo range on BB's without being deleted by secondary armament and support DD and Air attacks against BB's Hopefully the above changes will also put an end to the whole HP OP argument?
