PC Gamer: WoWs is 'expensive and exploitative'
KurtVonSteiger replied to _EasyTiger's topic in General Discussion
In one respect WG Marketing is quite clever though : Special - HMS Warspite bundle - just your first born child and a kidney, but hurry you only have 7 days! How many of us who really want a Brit Captain trainer will cave in? -
PC Gamer: WoWs is 'expensive and exploitative'
KurtVonSteiger replied to _EasyTiger's topic in General Discussion
As has been previously said - too expensive?- then don't buy it! If we don't buy the packages WG will quite possibly rethink their marketing. The core game is fun and I am enjoying it a lot plus spending is OPTIONAL not compulsory - so where is the problem apart from WG being a touch too greedy? -
PC Gamer: WoWs is 'expensive and exploitative'

I personally think that WG has missed an important marketing principle ''Less is More!'' and that seems to be the general opinion of nearly all of us on the forums. No end of us ARE prepared to spend some money on the game but most of us can not/do not want to spend a considerable amount on a Forced bundle purchase (as per all the posts following the Tirpitz bundle!).....give us the option to buy just the Tirpitz or Warspite and I am fairly confident that the money would just pour in to WG's coffers and, as the less is more principle applies they would get far more income from the ship purchases than from the few players who would buy the more expensive bundle. After all the less is more principle was the core business principle of the Supermarkets and that seems to have worked out rather well! -
Also, POW did follow Bismark and Prinz Eugen after joining the cruisers and re engaged at 01.00 on the 25th of May so he was not really a coward otherwise he would have just steamed for home!

Also read about HMS Jervis Bay before you talk about the RN running away! (And I can find you plenty more examples)

We get it- you hate the British, but please refrain from offensive posts like this - they are disrespectful to those who served their country and gave their lives....and this applies to All Nations! And on a related note, with Hood gone and gun and turret problems not to mention being hit several times just what exactly did you expect them to do but withdraw?

How would you describe the launch of WoW?
KurtVonSteiger replied to ajb13's topic in General Discussion
When even the Alpha and Supertesters are a bit upset by this it is something to be concerned about - No players = No game! As I posted on the Announcements section WG is not even bothering to take our money - Many Tirpitz and Warspite would have been purchased if made available as a launch special for EU but WG didn't think it was worth bothering with us. -
Brynd, please take on board that most of us are NOT concerned because we did not get any free stuff but because we expected WG to make a big thing about the launch to bring in lots of new players! It is the zero hype and lack of advertising that has even the most rabid WoWs fans concerned for the future of the game and as been stated by many we were willing to spend more money if you had put Tirpitz and Warspite back on sale in the premium shop. We need a growing player base to ensure the game is a success (and is very profitable) and you seem to have decided that an important milestone like the game going live was hardly worth bothering with? - also, your Testers have been your greatest advocates and have been actively supporting you even when some of the new players who joined in open Beta were very critical...the fact that these same testers are expressing grave concern should be sending you a signal that all is not well in the state of Denmark. Most of us are not bashing WG we are just stunned that no effort seems to have gone into actively promoting the game - you have now had more feedback from your testers - please evaluate it and act accordingly or do us the courtesy of saying "we have lost all interest in this game" We want it to be a success and to give you money - do you want the same?

Thank you for wonderful time, see you soon.

I think personally that this all boils down to a players goals/expectations - having played WoT I know how hard it is to make a profit at T10 and that a lot of players see T10 as a kind of end game goal therefore they will be frustrated by the operating costs vs rewards of T8 to T10. However, a lot of us are quite happy to progress at a slightly lower pace and are enjoying the T5 to T7 ships and using the credits generated for the odd high tier battles - on the goals front I am (Im)patiently waiting for the RN to be introduced so any credits/free xp accumulated will enable me to grab my dream ships reasonably quickly - BUT, each of us wants something different from the game hence the differing opinions. . WG will rebalance the economy if they feel it is required not because we want them to. -
Same error here! - game freezes at a random point in game or in port whilst upgrading modules etc. on hitting the Windows key I see the message containing: EXEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION : 0XC0000005@ 0X01586E86 (WRITE 0X00000010) Latest drivers and updates Windows 10 o/s i7 Devils Canyon GFX970 16 G/B DDR3

I think as some have said that it is down to game crashes....I have had a couple myself and even after closing and re starting WoWs within the first mins of the game When I rejoin the same game it just crashes again.

Why is EU community staff doing nothing for community/playerbase?
KurtVonSteiger replied to nothere01's topic in General Discussion
Same, same as the Alpha and Beta testing....no one was Promised anything so if we get anything at all it's a bonus! Unfortunately a lot of people seem to believe that they have some divine right to be showered in gaming riches and when WG provides a little gift people start complaining and expecting the next anniversary/Xmas gift to be even better. WG Europe might not be the same as WG Ru or NA and perhaps it's that difference that needs to be addressed so we all feel equal but WG will never be handing out free high level/value stuff as it is after all all about making money so can we just move on and sink some ships? -
And I forgot to mention......it's sooo cute
-
First battle with it and sunk 3 ships so as far as I am concerned it's a nice freebie....even if you hate it, it's free credits and a port slot so thanks WG!

Could mines be a weapon option?
KurtVonSteiger replied to _x_Acheron_x_'s topic in General Discussion
Hmmm!...let me think, dive bombers, torpedo bombers and huge amounts of DD and Cruiser torpedo spamming....what are we missing?.....I know, virtually invisible sea mines - sorted! sorry to be rude but given the existing need to be trying to watch out for air and sea launched torpedoes and evade same by high speed turns whilst not hitting any of the many islands you now want to have sea mines scattered all over the place as well? A lot of us are already being sunk by "friendly" torpedoes fired from behind us....I don't think running into a "friendly" mine is going to make many new friends either, not to mention it would restrict the maps even more. -
No team work on EU server. Language barrier too Big!

I personally feel it has nothing to do with nationality more simply this: it takes 2 to hold a conversation - 1 to speak and 1 to listen!....as before, if the person is unwilling to listen the language spoken is immaterial. A radial command menu would be most helpful though (and it can be pictorial so non language specific!) -

Ref OP, it often boils down to who can actually learn and apply knowledge to the game! Those with the ability to learn will soon see that staying together and engaging with 2 or 3 to one odds sinks enemy ships and wins games while going Rambo means an early trip back to port. Same as map awareness and paying attention to the game type - eg. Resetting caps rather than chasing the enemy CV ( where appropriate) unfortunately, bad players will tend to remain bad players if they will not learn and the ones who will not learn are the ones who will not listen to anyone else - Darwinism in action! -

Bit of stereotyping going one there!.....like saying all Brits drink tea and have bad teeth -
We need a pinned forum topic page titled : " I suck in...." ( insert ship name here) that will free up the rest of the forum for sensible discussion on ship merits.

These crew mods were quite popular when first introduced - however this was before WoT started changing the Tank models to HD. WoT were very slow back then in introducing the new HD models (2 or 3 per patch!) so I imagine that the modders decided to wait until after the swap was completed and of course we still don't have all tanks in HD - although I did find a Hellcat HD skin with crew
-
Just nitpicking, but there were several crew mods for WoT at one time with crews for the Hellcat and other open topped td's plus a couple of tanks with commanders visible ( might still have the skins around on one of my H/d's)

Sorry but i am losing interest quickly!

Unfortunately you are playing a game that is all about grinding and, having just launched it's final version of the economy a slower grind at that. As you have played the beta and must have read the notes you knew that it was a grind game and that the economy was artificially accelerated for testing purposes and would be adjusted accordingly so I do not see what other outcome you expect. Progress is roughly on par with WoT albeit some room for some tweaking but that's not going to happen until WG gets a lot of feedback.
