    IJN DD with USN guns might be interesting (although I'd rather have USN smoke or at least get stealthy torps but we shall see what they'll give her). Since they sell them for money I suppose they'll function as normal premiums when it comes to credit earning and captain training. Kind of dissapointed that this wasn't done like the ARP events where you could earn them, especially since everyone and their mother already has Graf Spee. I thought that WG at some point hinted that they might use the campaign system for this colab.

    You forgot RU also got Krasny Krym for free in an event. Don't worry, it was leaked that RU will likely also get Admiral Makarov as a server exclusive event/ship in the near future so that balances it out. Oh wait.

    This is an arcade game. RL doesn't have much to do with it. Engagement distances, accuracy, etc, etc are all changed to fit this as have the roles of ships. Otherwise give me historical type 93 torps and buff CV and nerf BB dispersion. Also the historical main role for cruisers and destroyers is not to babysit battleships.

    I can also remember devs saying something about DDs with radar. Still it is kind of like Flamu said when devs told him IJN torps were fine. What does that make Fletcher torps? Or Gearing torps? Either those are OP or IJN are UP, you can't have both. (Especially since 1 of the 2 lines is supposedly torp focussed and the other supposedly trades torp power for better guns and handling) Either they homogenize DDs by buffing the guns (and handling etc) of IJN DDs to the point where they are competitive, which would remove the uniqueness of the line, or they buff torps to the point where they aren't outperformed by Germans and 'Muricans.

    Sure, but right now you can take that possibility into account before you start capping. You can plan around such things and you can be a bit more confident and slightly less reliant on your team doing things like scout etc. In organised teamplay like CW the situation would of course be different and I think this could work. In randoms (and to a certain extent ranked with its PUGs) not so much.

    It will be brilliant when you are trying to cap in a IJN DD only to find out the enemy has a USS Black on their team and then you die. Sounds good in theory, would probably be frustrating and promote more passive play in practice.

    What about Budyonny? Oh and with IFHE Duca gets 4% fire chance. With flag and DE she still only has 7%. And Nurnberg has never been good at any point since the release of German cruisers.

    Buffing the guns won't really change much since the guns will always be lacking compared to other nations. Only real way that IJN becomes viable and have their own place in the game again is by buffing the torpedo detection to the point where USN and German DDs are not better torp boats.

    Except that you can't rely on your easily dodged torps in IJN DDs most of the time. Buffing the guns shouldn't be the focus since they will always be lacking, buffing the torpedo detection to the point where USN and German DDs are not better torp boats is what they need.

    This. Probably the most decently balanced ship in the entire tree and they nerfbat it way too hard for no real reason.

    Oh WG. Also Duca now has longer torp range and better stealth on them than all IJN DDs except for Shima.

    Maybe it is just that Flamu's perception is so positive because he had to slog throught the French line. Which really doesn't bode well for those ships.

    Emanuele Filiberto Duca d'Hype! Seems like my worries were unfounded, which is always a relief. This makes the 'high-speed' French cruisers even more laughable of course, but at least there is something that actually looks fun to play and get hyped for in the near future (and Roma at some point of course). Paper armour and short range combined with T6 MM might beat her down a bit but I like an aggresive playstyle with my ships more than sitting at max range spamming HE. Shame we will have to wait more than a year for the actual branch though

    I really don't get why WG decided that speed should be the national flavour of the french cruisers in the first place. A lot of the historical and tech tree ships really don't support the way WG intends these ships to work. It is kind of like saying that a certain ship line is a torpedo focussed line and then giving them the most easily dodged torpedoes in the game. *cough* IJN *cough* Having speed be the gimmick for French DDs? Sure. For French cruisers? No, especially not in the way it is implemented right now. Although honestly I am not really a massive fan of crippling overspecialisation in the first place (just look at how brilliantly that does not work for CV). A ship that is generally solid and without (huge) gimmicks will do just fine by me and would make balancing (and implementation of new lines) easier for WG/Lesta in the long run.
  21. Removal of manual drop is probably the single most impactful change. It literally makes low tier CV unplayable and completely unfun. And it doesn't even adress the issues it was supposed to fix. Sealclubbing still continues (not to mention it technically is a buff to Nikolai and Konig Albert) and new CV players don't really have a better time learning. It is probably the worst conceived and rushed change in the game.

    That is a rather bad comparrison imho. Starcraft 1 is still highly popular and still has a competitive scene and has no randomness at all. Randomness is not required nor necessarily a good part. Random maps are interesting because they make you change your playstyle during a match. RNG in damage, pen, fire chance, etc does not.

    OMG WG Why don't they take an actual historically significant naval power? We already have the Chinese and now the Czech? Why can't we have the actually important Swiss navy? They have never lost a single battle in both World Wars and should have been in the game before the RN or USN or IJN. This is obviously Czech bias.
