How many 19 points captains do you have?
Verdius replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Zero so far. Got a 17 point Ibuki and a 16 point Ibuki captain so I am still a long ways off. -
The question remains: who built the best cruisers?
Verdius replied to C4PT41N_0BV10US's topic in Off-Topic
Leaving aside the fire control/radar in the County-Myoko comparison the Myokos still had a couple of advantages, namely: firepower (both torps and main armaments), armor, and speed. (Because treaty limits are just a number, although the Kent subclass of the County class also went over the limits) The County class cruisers HMAS Canberra and HMAS Australia were also present and the former sunk at the night battle of Savo Island while under the command of Royal Navy Rear Admiral Victor Crutchley. So I'd say the Royal Navy did engage in other (night) battles with the IJN.- 19 replies

Type 22 radar after 1944 was pretty abundant in the IJN. They can be used as an aid in fire control, but that was not their intended purpose. At the second battle fo the Java Sea the IJN also used spotting aircraft to help direct their fire at HMS Exeter. IJN gunnery also benefitted from good optics next to well trained crews. Main issue with the Type 22 if I recall correctly was that it was quite fragile and large. Also if we go into night fighting this was actually something that the IJN was quite proficient at even without radar assistence, famously at the Battle of Savo Island 1942. Night fighting was used quite effectively by the IJN as early as the Russo-Japanese war.- 19 replies

IJN did have radar. By the end of 1944 most ships would have been equiped with type 22 surface radar. I know for certain that Nachi and Ashigara of the Myoko class carried the surface radar and since Myoko actually survived the war I'd say its a safe bet she would have been fitted with it as well.- 19 replies

Or Ibuki and Amagi.

USS ENTERPRISE (BIG E) - DO NOT MESS IT UP WG
Verdius replied to TheStreetProfessa's topic in General Discussion
I for one would be glad to see a premium CV that doesn't powercreep the non-premiums out of existence like how Saipan and Kaga are near flat out better than their silver counterparts. And Big E already outclasses Lexington, although that is not really that much of a feat. But that might just be me and my silly ideas of balancing. Also THIS IS WHY WG SHOULD HAVE KEPT THEIR PROMISE TO WAIT FOR THE CV REWORK BEFORE SHOVING THESE UNBALANCED GIMMICK PREM CV'S DOWN OUR THROATS. No, nobody is forced to buy them, but they will dominate competitive gamemodes and will be necessary for participation, not to mention they will make the barrier to entry for the already tiny CV playerbase even higher. But of course we all know that WG is now going to knee-jerk overbuff the Enterprise to calm everyones tits and so that it can fit in nicely for a future season tier 8 ranked so that every team will be Kutuzov/Atago, Tirp/Bama, Lo Yang, Enterprise. -
Not exactly a review (as Flamu said that he doesn't want to review it since he thinks it will get changed before release anyway due to whine) but Flamu has some gameplay on his YT now with some not so subtle digs at Ichase for his "WG hates US CV OMG !!!1!" TL;DR: It's a slightly worse Shokaku but better than Lexington. Somewhat underwhelming drop pattern.

You can but keep in mind that not every tank will have the same crew options, like some tanks don't have a dedicated loader or radio operator or have multiple loaders etc.

The game seems to not give Italian voice over when I have national voiceovers enabled while playing Duca d'Aosta
-
Why even give it radar if the rando WoWs BB player parks their ship 20kms out of range anyway. (Aside from other obvious reasons to not hand T10 CA radar to BBs)
-
You could count Macedonia (and the division of it after Alexander) as a Hellenic empire.

Isn't De Grasse just a better Gallisoniere? The one that got hit with a nerfbat into awfull territory so that it could get powercreeped 2 months down the line by this thing? No way that I'm going to pay for scummy business practices.
-
So it has Des Moines radar? Because USN cruisers already had so much going for them. WG doesn't need to test this to know that this is terrible for game balance, population disparity, and the meta overall.
-
How about the tier 5 carriers that she can face then?

Patch 0.6.6 brings a significant nerf to all airplanes
Verdius replied to Babykim's topic in General Discussion
CV have been in need of adjustment for over 2 years. In spite of the 'year of the carrier 2016' and the 'no prem CV before rework' promises WG made. -
Does this mean that people in Zuiho's and Bogues with autodrop would have to face KGV AA? And no, this is not going to kill WoWs, but it will absolutely destroy the high tier meta for every ship that is not a BB. Because why pick a cruiser when a BB has the same utility and has way more survivability and firepower? Why pick any DD (except Khab) if you can't effectively use your main weapon for dealing with BBs that you are supposed to be somewhat effective against? If your main defense can be taken away with no counterplay option other than stay out of range? It won't outright kill the game, but it will encourage even more passive play and cause DD and cruiser population to go down even more in favour of BB.

Battleship line with radar So we get Yamato guns, fast speed, probably god tier AA because everything seems to have that these days, and flipping RADAR? WG has found a way to make cruisers even more obsolete. Also DDs that aren't glorious Rassjan Kebab can once again **** themselves it seems. Seriously this madness needs to stop. It hurts the meta, it hurts the game, it hurts the playerbase in the long run. Radar and def AA BBs should never have been in the game to begin with. No more vodka for WoWs devs please... -

When it comes to hospitability IJN ships are notoriously cramped. Myoko and Mogami also sufered quite a bit of damage during a typhoon in 1935 which revealed that the electric welding employed in their construction was not entirely up to snuf, although later ships would not have this problem. If we take radar and fire control into account than it would probably default to the USN. If we take hypothetical upgrades for certain ships Italy, France and Japan might become a bit more even, although USN and RN had a big lead in radar tech. Tone class can also be considered quite decent at their intended role as a scout cruiser for carrier groups. They also received radar and upgraded anti air as the war progressed. Wasn't there a issue with the aircraft Ooyodo was supposed to carry?- 19 replies

König also has 305mm and WG recently felt that they needed to nerf her. She also had 2 guns less. Gangut/OR will be fine, especially if she gets the same bias dispersion and sigma as Nikolai.

What other games are you playing at the moment?
Verdius replied to loppantorkel's topic in Off-Topic
I'd advise watching a few youtube vids on it as it has quite a bit of mechanical complexity. Youtuber/streamer/excelmaster Arumba is a genius at the game and it might help you get start on the right track. These days a lot of DLC is near mandatory but as Allande said Summersale coming up might soften that blow to your wallet. EU4 is tricky to learn but very rewarding to play once you have a bit of an idea of what you are doing. Or when you play with friends and stomp their faces as some minor power. Nepali space marines FTW. As for other games I'm playing: EU4, Mount and Blade Warband, Men of War, Legend of Zelda OoT 3ds, Fire Emblem, and I've been trying to get better at Touhou 11. And I'm playing the Warhammer 40k Dark Heresy pen and paper with some friends. -
Pretty neat. But do you know what makes everything better? TESLA COILS Proving once and for all that Tesla > Edison <br> SCIENCE!

Sir Christopher Lee. That man was a international treasure. If we are talking about leaders etc I'd say Cyrus the Great. Date Masamune would also rank quite highly (although that is also because I want to see him react to how Sengoku Basara depicts him) As for Gustavus Adolphus:

Except for the mongols. Also Gustavus Adolphus > Charles XII Gustavus Adolphus and Maurice of Orange-Nassau basically layed the foundation for and revolutionized how European armies would fight in the early modern period until Napoleon.
