In contructed play without any limitations every team would be full Midways (with at best a few DeMoines thrown in). And that's everything that has to be said about this. -

It's not that easy. At low tiers there are a lot of players "doing it wrong" and enough CVs in the MM that you hardly get CV vs no CV matches. (so average winrate is as with other ships) The Bogue is a prime example. It shows up as the worst Carrier in stats, mostly because its two unlockable Setups are crap. The strike setup has way to little backup TBs, so when you lose a squad, which will happen from time to time, you will be almost useless. The fighter setup just starts as useless. The reasons have been discussed over and over again on this forum. The standard setup on the other hand compares rather well when there is another CV in the game, as you are nigh unsnipable with a fighter squad and the Bogues awesome AA, while being able to pressure his plane reserves and doing enough damage with your one TB squad. If there is no enemy CV the one TB squad is still enough to pull a 100k game and decide the game on your own, unlesss your team is insanely incompetent. When I see that there is no enemy CV, I know that (almost) the only thing that can make my team lose the game is me playing badly. (which happens, I'd never claim to be great in CVs) And that's the main problem. The war on the sea hardly matters. Fights are decided in the air. 4.1 is only going to pseudo fix this by always matching CV vs CV, which will bring their average winrates down to normal, masking the fact they have way more influence on the outcome of the game than any other class. -

Why not take it a step further? Let's introduce SSBNs to the game. Give them a button to shoot their ICBMs at the enemy spawn and kill every last enemy instantly. Have the matchmaker always match them against another SSBN. Voila, 50% winrate ship. Sure it might do a bit more damage than other ships, and have a slightly higher WR in the hands of a "skilled" player who can push the button really fast, but according to the CV appologists' logic it is completely fair and balanced. -

So you killed six equal tier DD bots (which are hardly worse than the average player) in your BB without even using your primary armament, and you are asking for a buff, right? Now go try fighting six Fusos in a Farragut, please.

Go look at what the North Carolinas AA was like when the Bismarck was sunk... Fact is the Bismarck had among the best AA for when she operated. Building anything bigger than let's say a CL was a waste of resources for germany. If that resources would have gone into subs, Britain would have had to surrender for lack of supplies, and we would all live in the Third Reich now. So let's be glad that didn't happen.

If a DD or Cruiser is within secondary range you just one or two hit it with your primaries. BBs have absolutely no problems dealing with DDs and Cruisers at short range. Stop being bad and derping headfirst into a wall of torps.

In which game do TBs only do 2.5-3k damage? Anyways, you are the only one who talks about the Shimakaze only. It's entirely possible it would be OP with a 45sec reload timer (never played it myself, but seen the torp screens in CBT), but 1. 95% of DDs in the game are not the Shimakaze, 2. it would be entirely possible to buff something that isn't reload and 3. if buffing reload you could nerf something else (i.e. range). Destroyers as a whole are currently lacking. Don't let a lack of imagination prevent a fix. -

Don't use crap logic and you won't get crap answers. You implied the data being completely useless (which it isn't) unless normal distributed (which it also isn't). We have arithmetical means for the whole population and for top 10% of players. It's very reasonable to assume a positively skewed distribution, as that's what distrubutions of results in games tend to look like. There is easily enough data to judge ships up to T7 and have a rough impression of T8+ ships. Your pseudo informed "my highschool math teacher once told me" comments bring nothing to the table. -

That's a terrible way of thinking. Everyone should be treated respectfully... until he does something which makes you lose respect for him... like answering legit statistical arguments with "hurr everything's fine durr. DDs are immune to TBs." No respect for your playerbase. No respect for you. -

Minekaze does half the hitpoints of BBs as average dmg per game => overpowered CVs do more than once the hitpoints of BBS as average dmg per game => perfectly balanced Logic. Maybe, just maybe, almost all DDs are underpowered, with the Minekaze being closest to balanced. Here is a comprehensive guide on how to never* die to DDs**: 1. look at the list of enemy ships 1.1. there is no enemy DD with torp range > concealment range: go to 2 1.2. there is an enemy DD with torp range > concealment range: don't drive in a straight line for more than 20 seconds, unless you absolutely know the enemy DDs is not in range: go to 2 2. don't derp into an ambush/straight/smokescreen. let your CVs and DDs scout. go to 3. 3. oh no, there is an enemy DD coming towards you! turn away. kite him. kill him. do not get into a knife fight, because that's the only way he can make sure his torps will hit. go to 1 4. ??? 5. profit! Congratulations, Soldier! You are now immune to DDs! *obviously not including hopeless situations at the end of the match when you are 1vs5 etc ** doesn't work for DDs, as they are crap... -
Great post. Let me add something. Everyone doing average in cruisers means they are underpowered and have a very small effect on the outcome of the game. I.E. a perfectly mirrored match asides from one cruiser being played by a very good payer on one team and a very bad player on the other team will only shift the expected win rate very slightly towards the team with the better cruiser captain. This also explains why all cruisers do mediocre. It just doesn't matter whether you are in a good or bad cruiser because any skilled enemy wil either avoid (DD) or easily kill you (BB,CV). The opposite is true for carriers, which are overpowered and have a huge influence on the outcome of the game.

Have you actually tested this? Because I have the anti fire module on all of my BBs and have never had problems with fire to the extend some people are whining about here. -

Feels like the sides of the hull can not be damaged by HE. The Iowa has a decapping plate there, so I don't know if this is realistic. I mostly shoot AP at them when using 8" guns. Ye, would be totally unfair when a cruiser could kill an Iowa within 2minutes, considering the Iowa can insta kill it. -
Yes. The captain skill only gives fighters and dbs. But you are still right. The only tier both have the same number of tbs is IV.

Ye, when i.e. fighter damage quadruples within 2 tiers you don't need to finetune. You need to start from scratch or completely change matchmaking, so that a carrier will always be matched against another carrier of the same tier. Currently one strike setup carrier with a good player and without opposition is very close to insta GG.

I just hit a Pensacola for way over half his health at 18km and two shot a Kongo at 10km in my Nagato. Maybe you are doing it wrong?

Ye, just compare it to Mogami which has 3 times the HP (well lets call it 1.5 times as its a bigger target) and DPM, like 5km more gun range and twice the torps at the cost of like 0.4kn topspeed, 2.5km or so of stealth (can still invisitorp), 5km of torp range and slightly less manouverability. You also lose smoke, but get a free scout plane to your cruiser aa ability.
