  1. I have a love hate relationship with this game. I came here after some 15k games of WoT. I stopped playing WoT for some very simple reasons that I won't go into here but I was hoping that WoT would address many of them especially in a closed Beta environment. I'm becoming less and less convinced it will. Let me start off with the good: The game looks lovely, the sound effects are all great, the mechanics are all in place. I also know that the balance will get addressed in certain areas - hey that's why there is a closed beta. It has the potential to be a game that features suspense, tactics, situational awareness - it could be great. Now the reasons I am getting frustrated. Just like WoT you need a team to work together. This is where it fails. Maybe multiplayer games are all doomed. There is just no fun playing a battleship when there are 5 destroyers and a carrier on the enemy team. In an ideal world your cruisers would set up an AA/DD pocket but nope, not a chance. They all go shooting off to hide behind mountains hoping to get their torps off into a lone battleship. The shots you do get off hit 1 in 8 due to the appalling accuracy of a BB main battery. Then you get spotted, then you get torped. I know you can avoid torps in a cruiser/destroyer but when you are in a battleship it is so much harder. How do you play a game when the enemy has 5 DDs and a carrier ? Torp spam is killing the game for me at the moment. If there is one thing WG could do it would be to try anything, anything to encourage teamwork. I ended up leaving WoT in part because of the massive frustration playing game after game filled with bots/idiots with stats that would imply they have trouble moving and breathing at the same time. The result - zero teamwork and so much griefing. I know that I have only scratched the surface of this game, but WoT taught me to use the minimap, use my team and help my team by doing the role my tank/ship is equipped for, so I am not a total noob. In WoT you could occasionally get a great carry. Use terrain, use spotting, use skill. WoW seems to be making this so much harder. Anything big in the end game gets torped, anything mobile just can't tank the damage. If there is advice or posts you can point me at to become better I would be grateful, or are my concerns justified.
  2. I kind of agree with the sentiment here. When WoT came out (I got involved about 4 years ago). I loved it. It was a truly great game. Then came the monetisation. Gold ammo, power creep, maps losing camo meta etc etc. It turned into a deliberate brawl fest encouraging high pen gold ammo. WG are entitled to make money from it but they raped it. I stopped playing WoT about 3 months ago. WoWs - again a fun game. A little more samey from game to game than WoT but still fun. I just hope they focus on gameplay and don't wreck it as they did with WoT.

    No compensation Mogami?

I agree, the reason we play it is to pass back feedback, let them balance stuff etc. But, we are not paying to play the beta. everything we buy and use is refunded when we start to play the full version. Spend £5 on gold now, get the gold back in the real game.

Its a BETA test, please stop treating it like a full game. They have said that all gold will be there at the beginning of the full-live game. They can do what they want including a full wipe at any time as far as I am concerned.
  5. I think that the OP has a brilliant proposal. One I would LOVE to see applied to WoT as well. The general level of griefing over there is one of the main reasons I left
  6. Some good points - I guess with the myagi having no AA some of the tactics here are not so relevant. Plus when playing CAs I try hard to not be right next to the BB but about 2 km away between him and the torp planes. That way they have to go over me to get to him. My thoughts are that by staying next to him they can drop the torps and get away without getting the full benefit of my AA cover. I guess the main thing here is that I got hooked on WoT pretty well straight away, WOWs is just not grabbing me in the same way. At first glance there seem to be far fewer ways for a good player to make a carry.
  7. I've kind of gone back to basics. In the last hour I have been playing cruisers and just NOT MOVING for 2 minutes. The result is a better few games. Let others get spotted, people seem to focus and remain very unaware of what's around them. It seemed to help. Also BBs are just so slow - they cannot respond to the map. Plus if your team is all yoloing you just get swamped by torps. I reckon that the jap destroyers could be fun as well.
