    Russian Server & Premium Shop

They're limited to customers of MTS (a mobile network provider, like T-mobile or Orange), according the to RU forum, it's 500RUB (6.50€) for the Tachibana, and 430RUB (5.58€) for the Diana. And they are absolutely going berserk over those prices, finding them way too steep... Oh, if they only knew how privileged they are.

    The Dutch Navy options

I read somewhere in a Q&A that the Dutch won't come as a standalone branch, and are not a priority to be included at all, if things remain as they are. The "reason" behind this is that the demographic group called "The Dutchmen" is very small. The Blyskawicka is ingame because the Polish playerbase is very numerous and active. The Dutch (and make that + Belgian) one isn't, so it isn't worth it for WG in terms of effort and "return on investment". As if an interest in a certain nation is limited by the borders of that very nation. A pity, since the Dutch had some interesting designs, and were participating in some fairly well-known battles. True battles, not the "let's plow into a minefield and play coastal bombardment", the favourite pastime of the Russian Navy during WW2.

    Soviet Cruisers some stats

http://forum.worldofwarships.com/index.php?/topic/72186-so-no-public-test/page__st__20__p__1771287#entry1771287 PT seems to be delayed for a while.

    RAZER codes giveaway

I redeemed mine an hour ago, and it works it seems (I'm running premium, says the star next to my nickname in the upper right corner). Can't see yet if I got the port slot.

    Russian Cruiser Trailer

That patriotism though... The trailer for the German CA-line was much more serene and underwhelming in presentation compared to this. One might even phantom for a second they were capable and significant ships IRL. EDIT 16.33hrs This is the trailer for the RU-server:
  6. Mrs.Fingers sometimes plays together with me (quatremains, she sails and I manage the guns, or the other way around)... Not eligible me guess.

    Russian Cruiser Trailer

How do you think players from the former DDR are reacting when they see that the flag of their former occupier can be used without any consequences, but the flag of their home-nation can't?

    Russian Cruiser Trailer

Maybe, however...WG adjusted the "rising sun" flag as well, because it is sensitive in South-Korea (not a big market either currently). Sensitive, not forbidden (there ain't a law in which it the display of that flag is prohibited... The present Japanese Navy still uses the Rising Sun flag today, without any issues, even when visiting Korea). This reeks like double standards, as they care for one minority regarding one flag, which doesn't break any domestic laws, while they don't for another flag, which does break several domestic laws. That's not right.

Then it's just a matter of time until someone who lives in Estonia/Latvia/Lithuania does take it a step further and would file a complaint. not for the German flag, but for the Hammer & Sickle. In those countries, it's still prohibited by law to manifest communist-laden inscriptions and symbols, whether that's in a historical context or not. It is banned, and it will get you in serious trouble over there (they're not joking around over there when it comes to glorification of the Soviet-era)... And this game is freely available in those countries, AFAIK without censoring of the communist symbols.

That applies for all "politically laden" flags, not just the Imperal flags. Left-wing organisations who trot around with the CCCP, Hammer & Sickle or whatever floats their boat are also eligible for confiscation by the police.

Have it in my port, not used it very much (that will come when the Russian Cruisers will arrive) but I'll give it a try: it's a potent ship, fairly well balanced but not extraordinary (like the Aurora is, which is an upgraded Diana). And while the guns are accurate, the shell-trajectory is Clevelandesque.

Reliable sources? Preferably from the peer-reviewed kind. I can find numerous papers about their significance as a "floating artillery battery", shelling land targets from the shore.

    Russian Cruiser Trailer

The Russian Trailer (that is: the trailer for the Russian ships, for the Russian server) is a tad different than the one the Western servers were presented with (and more in line with the trailers that the German CA's & Russian DD's had back in 2015)

Can't install the launcher on my Win7, so no slot for me... ah well.
  15. But what is it? Oh, and... It is RUSSIAN Cruisers, there ain't much Soviet about most of those things.
  16. As could be expected, the requirements are different for the EU than they were for the SEA server (other rewards as well it seems)... Harsh tier restrictions, and again with a frag-mission. EDIT: mission requirements Captain extraction (Tier VII and up): 1) 100 kills (500.000 credit reward) 2) 10.000.000 damage caused (stage 1 has to be completed, unsure reward) 3) Win a battle and finish in the top 2 by XP (stage 2 has to be completed, 16 skillpoint Hiei commander reward) Sisters of fog (Tier V and up) 1) 1.000.000 damage caused (reward: commander Haruna) 2) 2000 main battery hits (stage 1 has to be completed, no reward mentioned) 3) 2.000.000 damage caused (stage 2 has to be completed, no reward mentioned) 4) 3000 main battery hits (stage 3 has to be completed, ARP Hiei as a reward)
  17. ... And there is a special to commemorate Operation Chariot. Could it be that the Royal Navy is closer than one might think? HMS Campbeltown was a Town-Class destroyer, which was a Wickes-Class from the US Navy that was transferred to the Royal Navy.
  18. MrFingers

The March Wallpaper is the HMS Campbeltown....

The phoenix-class was never built. The Town-Class destroyers were American-built Caldwell, Wickes and Clemson-Class destroyers (also know, as the "four stackers"), that were surplus/mothballed/obsolete, and which were transfered to the UK in exchange for land rights for the US Navy on British possessions (and in that timeframe, the British had property everywhere on the globe). The Town-Class cruisers (both the 1910 and 1936 series, which are further not related were British-built, for the Royal Navy. I think it's a good thing that a foreign ship becomes a Premium, just because the British had so much material/designs of their own, that they could easily fill 2 branches on their own. The foreign models don't have a place in a techtree, since they disrupt "the flow" of development and subsequent classes.

Don't forget that the Russian DD's were introduced together with the German CA's.
  20. redeem the code WOTEXTRADAY in the top right corner. Is from a WoT-promo, but works for WoWS as well. Originally for the NA server, but somehow works on the EU as well.

    Anyone seen Ectar lately?

His last post dates from January 28th, and he was on holiday (per profile status) until February 6th... But after that all is silent (he is active on the WoT-forums). We've got three other CM's who are doing the best they can, but with not firing on all pistons, I'm afraid we will glide back to the dark ages of non-information from last year, in which CM input was abysmal, and what was posted did not meet the quality standards the other servers have in terms of news and care. Has he been transfered? Other reasons?

Some interesting info around the world

Again, many thanks for the excellent translations
  23. Captains, With the introduction of the new ARP-missions, I started wondering something. Would there be interest for a comparable event in WoWS, but without the anime-flavour to it. That means that the concept will be the same of the ARP-missions, but the reward ship would not be a fantasy ship, but a regular techtree ship which is accessible via every port, and is part of a regular nation present in WoWS. This to appeal to the players who are not a fan of anime in general, or Arpeggio in particular (yes, there are people who aren't into that genre), and also give them an incentive to play the game for a final reward that appeals to them (instead for having to settle for the sub-mission rewards). The reward ship could be something like a variant of an already ingame ship, or a unique ship that is not planned to be a Premium. Preferably in the "mid tier" bracket (Tiers 4, 5 & 6), so it's actually useful to the players who play high-tiers exclusively, and not that high it would hamper high-tier gameplay by influxing vast quantities of inexperienced players. Missions could be a hybrid from the ARP- & Project R missions. So large undertakings which require player activity for a considerable time, but also with ample time to compete the challenge at a comfortable pace (not like Project R, for which you had to be active from week 1 in order to fully complete it before the deadline hit). Looking forward to your input here.
  24. "One swallow does not make a summer", but it's nice to see that something is being done here. I have no idea what, and neither do I find anything useful on his Facebook, so it could go either way. I sincerely hope that Wargaming has teamed up with the Caroline Trust, and were able to make some sort of arrangement like Wargaming did with the USS Arizona Memorial, which in turns help the preservation of the HMS Caroline for future generations. Next up: USS Olympia. Anyway, something is happening, which makes me a bit giggety... Although I seriously doubt it was my topic or suggestion which made me look into this, I'm not having even the slightest illusion. After all, who am I? I'm just an average player with zero impact on a huge company like WG.
