at least the last experience will give you a warm feeling... Something GNB did not really succeed in. -

You're not asking me, but since I'm here, I'm going to say it anyway. This is how I would have managed the GNB-event. Maintain the treasures and rewards, and the variety between them (low-tier premiums, some doubloons, some premium, some flags), and give the player the ability to chose. Maintain the concept of milestones that would be reached, and the consequences it has for the game (reach X: next weekend: get benefit Y) Maintain the concept of weekly repeatable missions, and a batch of general missions that stretch out over the weeks the GNB runs. However, this is what I would adjust: Remove the missions that promote AFK-ing and killstealing. It's better to have missions that require "damage done" instead of "Kill X number". If you MUST have a kill-mission, make it class-specific (kill X of class Y), that would diversify the targets a bit, since not everyone is working towards the same goal Allow for some slack. Just like Project-R, in order to reach the treshold milestone, you had to actively play, but you could leave a couple of missions out. Or: allow to change missions for another (a bit like currently is possible with the daily missions, have one mission get a random reset to another once a day). Not everyone has 24/7 time to play the game. Have a final goal that is actually worth the effort. 20 Camo's is downright ridiculous. Suggestions on what: see below. This event was called "Grand Naval Battles"... How to actually tie it to the Naval Battles it talks of: If you have 5 commemorative naval battles, and 5 weeks of game time, dedicate each week to a single battle (the anniversary of the real battle can fall in that week, but it's not absolutely necessary). Tie some specific missions specific to the conditions of that battle. For example: Jutland: "sink 3 German ships in a British Ship" & "sink 3 British Ships in a German Ship". Midway: "shoot down X planes using your fighters": "in the duration of this week: sink 5 aircraft carriers",... Upon reaching the final milestone, every player that reached the threshold required gets to choose a premium ship that was present at those battles. And have 4 ships ready: a destroyer, a cruiser, a battleship and a carrier. That way the player can choose what to aim for. Did the player not reach the goal, work in increments for discounts upon purchase: 75% reached: 75% discount, 50% reached: 50% discount, 25% reached, 25% discount. -

Ph3lan, and other WG staff. PLEASE take a look at this topic, and duly note what is in there. This is a tremendous source of information for you if you want to know what went wrong, and where it went wrong. It would be plain idiocy not to take that into account. -
What I will see happening is that the other servers will get the GNB-event as well, but adjusted to accomodate our feedback, so it would probably be less grindy, and with a proper reward at the end of the milestones... And the EU gets left out.
-
It's been announced: http://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/premshop/premshop-weekly-midway/ It's part of the Midway-premium-shop... Because the IJN Destroyer "Kamikaze" was present at that battle. Understanable, but why not sell the regular Kamikaze then?

It's HMS Naiad

Real life got in the way, and I managed to get a handful of Diamonds. Since the reward was a closely guarded secret, I was under the assumption that it was kept secret because it was probably not in proportion with the effort required (and then some situations at the homefront happened, and I had to abandon WoWS for a good month or 2). Turns out I was probably right.
-
I liked project R better, since you knew what the reward was, and thus there was a real incentive to play, to reach the required goal. With GNB it was not the case, there is a "secret reward" that no-one knows what it is, it could well be not worth the effort required (either by being a dissapointing prize in general, or by being rewarded something that is of absolutely no use to you(r playstyle)). Also in the GNB, in order to reach the 1000 Diamond goal, one could not skip a single mission, and some were pretty steep (not everyone has a Tier VIII ship, so there you exclude a part of your playerbase by default), where you could skip a couple of missions in the Project R. To my feeling, GNB was more "grindy" than Project R. What I did like about the GNB is that we could spend our Diamonds at something at our own discretion and leisure. This was not the case with Project R on the EU server (other servers also had crates they could buy with pearls, although the content was hidden IIRC), so that's a step in the right direction. My suggestion for the hypothetical next event: Have a reward that is known from the beginning, or at least give some tips to it. Make it accessible for every player, so without missions that require pure luck and/or are only for the elite players who have top-tier ships. Keep the spendable goodies you can "buy" with the points you earn by playing the objectives of the missions, it's a very nice gesture towards the players, and keeps them hooked, while at the same time prevents WG from maintaining their reputation of ruthless moneygrabbers. Allow for some slack, so that in order to reach the "main goal", one can skip a small group of missions. I also have to add that I already owned the Tachibana and Albany prior to the GNB, and I'm not really interested in the Katori & Smith, neither in premium time or flags, so... the rewards were of no use for me.

WG and the Jutland event (or lack thereof one)
MrFingers replied to Armo1000's topic in General Discussion
I see, and I understand. I made a quick mockup using a plan of HMS Caroline, and the arcs on the 6" at the back are quite good actually. Just a small perimeter towards the bow that is not servicable. So a "conventional layout" is feasible I guess. If it works for the Izumo... Either way, we're drifting a bit away from the subject here. Maybe continue the discussion in the dedicated Caroline-thread? -

Couldn't that be worked around with by having the 6" guns at the back being the secondary guns, and the 4" guns on the bow/sides being the main armament? Would also bring something new to the table, having a ship with bigger secondaries (and ditto range) than primary guns. -

Yeah... Also a perfect way to encourage you to play the game, with no British ships present (besides two behind a paywall) -

No no, the "contest-thing" and Caroline were totally separate subjects. I was asking something about contests, and added a suggestion about Caroline, not linked at a contest, but as a regular payable premium ship. -
WG and the Jutland event (or lack thereof one)
MrFingers replied to Armo1000's topic in General Discussion
When I started the topic about HMS Caroline on December 4th 2015, I had a PM-conversation with MrConway, about something regarding contests. Either way, I was reading about HMS Caroline by coincidence, and noticed that she was scheduled for restoration, she took part in the Battle of Jutland and that it was 100 years ago in 6 months time. So I notified MrConway about it, and he was totally enthusiast about it, and he would pass it along higher up the echelon... And then it became silent, apart from a notice on Reddit that "WG and the HMS Caroline Trust were working together on something" back in March, which did spur hope... But it was not to be. I guess that it met a big "njet" from St.Petersburg, or it was not passed up to there in the first place. I sincerely believe MrConway was enthusiastic about it, but the issue lays with the upper management. -

Sheer incompetence by being out of touch with their playerbase/clients. -
[Suggestion] HMS Caroline - The Battle of Jutland (update: something seems to be brewing)

Jutland has wizzed by... HMS Caroline is fully restored in her dock... And apart from a virtual model in an app, WG has done nothing apparently. I am disappointed.- 157 replies

As a redditor, I can say: they are not there. On the WoT-Reddit they are, but on he WoWS-Reddit, it's the occasional NA-CM we see. -
WG and the Jutland event (or lack thereof one)
MrFingers replied to Armo1000's topic in General Discussion
And how exactly was it honoured? By a post on the main portal that did not say anything more than a résumé from the Wikipedia article. And a commemorative flag (hey: that is very nice)... For 50€ (seriously?)... And what about all those who already had the Warspite and/or Campbeltown? Screw them? How about a ingame contest to gain that flag, while playing that premium (do X damage, sink Y ship). Did not think of that? Too much effort required from your part? Meanwhile apparently Midway and Philippine Sea get a proper special with an X2, discounts,... Here you have squandered a TREMENDOUS opportunity to commemorate the anniversary of the most major naval battle in European history in terms of significance and size since Trafalgar, and you let it all slip through your hands. Absolutely nothing was done with it. There was the suggestion to implement HMS Caroline (a survivor of Jutland) as a commemorative ship half a year ago: nill. A special like on the RU-server: nill. And by doing so you've upsetted (again) a considerable part of your already dwindling hardcore playerbase. If you've gauged the forums and community in the weeks leading up to this, you would have noticed that the word "Jutland" and "centennial anniversary" stirred up quite a buzz. Yet you are apparently so out of touch with your population that nothing was done with it. You already messed up big time with Operation Chariot/HMS Campeltown, which was announced with much bombast, but when the date came, nothing was ready. And now again. WG-EU: you have failed, miserably!- 161 replies

MrFingers replied to Armo1000's topic in General Discussion
I have to say I'm a bit disappointed as well... who could possibly phantom that the ghost of Douglas Adams holds a position in the events-team of Wargaming. -
Not too much space to dock your ship though... I probably could fit in an Omaha though, if I push hard enough.
-
Or this...
-
The ship itself did not change (the stats will be the same), it's the environment that has changed (a powercreep with the introduction of new branches, combined with global buffs/nerfs). The Warspite is immune to ship-specific nerfs as it is a premium. That's why it is so manoeuvrable, it still retains the CBT-pre-nerf manoeuvrability, where other regular ships got nerfed. But I understand what you're saying, she is in need of some love.
