Email about welcome gift but no welcome gift?
MrFingers replied to zcc1121's topic in General Discussion
I did not get an email from Wargaming, but I also tried StashX's link, and I got in. CBT-tester (got raffled in, did not buy a pack) never buys premium, never buys gold, nor flags bought Warspite (Premium Shop, unbundled), did participate in "Secret Santa" does not play Ranked/Team does occasionally play (handful of battles a week) Tier VI maximum (Warspite & Cleveland) -
Email about welcome gift but no welcome gift?

I never get any mails from Wargaming... ah well. -
The armour needs some fixing, but apart from that, she's competitive enough in my eyes (the guns are accurate, and with them being 15", they do a lot of hurt). But with the ever-persisting powercreep that exists with Wargaming (every time a new branch gets introduced, they are a bit too competitive compared to the already existing branches), I can see the Warspite be in a world of pain once the German BB's get introduced.

The Imperial German naval flag, does it have a place in WoWS?

WG-EU has not a clue how hard they're being ridiculed on the WoWS-communities for the fail-after-fail-after-fail-after-fail they managed to push out. Other WG-offices have plenty of freedom it seems for organising stuff, and they're doing alright. EU however is strictly bound and leashed by headquarters (for whatever reason that may be), and they still can't manage to complete a single thing successfully. There are always hiccups somewhere, one a bit bigger than the other, and not always as serious, but still: hiccups. However, I've heard from a reliable source that the GNB commemorative Premium ship is finally ready, so we've got that going for us.

So? How blatantly OP is the Kutuzov in 0.5.3 compared to the other Tier 8 Cruisers?

[EU] A "Military Month"-challenge like the NA, would that be welcomed on the EU?
MrFingers posted a topic in General Discussion
Players, Staff, At the moment the EU got their GNB-event, the NA got an event of their own as well, the "May Monthlong Missions", a succession of challenges loosely tied to the "Military Appreciation Month" (hey, it is 'Murica after all). In that event, the prizes and requirements were known up-front, and I made the remark that I personally found the NA-challenge at first way more interesting than the EU one. I was told not to be silly, and that the scale of the EU-event was bound to be bigger. We now all know how the GNB turned out to be somewhat of a damp squib after all, so I was wondering, would an event the scale of "May Monthlong Missions" be welcomed to the EU-server. Here is the American Event, and the requirements: Stage 1: win one PvE, PvP or Team-battle. 1000XP Stage 2: complete stage 1 and score 10 torpedo hits over any number of PvE, PvP or Team battles. 100.000 credits Stage 3: complete stage 2 and sink 10 ships over any number of PvE, PvP or Team battles. 5000 Commander XP. Stage 4: complete stage 3, and set 30 fires over any number of PvE, PvP or Team-battles. 15x "India Bravo Terrathree" flags Stage 5: complete stage 4, and do for 600.000 HP damage over any number of PvE, PvP or Team-battles 25x "Zulu" flags 25x "Papa Papa" flags 1x "Military Month Commemorative flag" (which gives a 5% boost to XP and credits earned) As you can see, the rewards are in proportion to the effort required, and there is a final goal. I made a poll about it, and I am curious to see the results. A word of remark regarding "but GNB had crates with stuff and that's cool and etc...". It indeed had, and it indeed was cool. But do not forget that with Project-R, the NA, RU & SEA-servers had obtainable crates as well, with -apart from the premium ships- comparable content. The EU however didn't. In terms of combined rewards, Project R-EU + GNB roughly equals Project R-NA, SEA or RU. The NA also had a 4.000.000 extra credit reward for Project R the EU never got. -
It's like the Warsaw uprising once more. By the way you describe it, it almost sounds like that the WG-Polish department has hired "Scarper" from Gaijin* (*for those who are unaware: Scarper is the ham-fisted CM for the WarThunder EU forums... He is kinda blunt)

Can you elaborate, I wish I could say my Polish is rusty, but it's not even that, it's non-existent!

[EU] A "Military Month"-challenge like the NA, would that be welcomed on the EU?

NA, active community, CM's that are in touch with said community, degrees of freedom that do not exist on the EU. -
[EU] A "Military Month"-challenge like the NA, would that be welcomed on the EU?
MrFingers replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
If it is in the decision range of the CM's on the other servers, why shouldn't it be on the EU. Yeah, I know Orwell's "all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others", but is the EU really a tied-up chihuahua, where the NA is a freeroaming pitbull? THE difference between NA & EU is that the NA has a team dedicated to each game (so the WoWS CM's are just there for WoWS, not for WoT or WoWS), in Europe, it's thrown on one big pile, and every game has to fend for their share of CM attention. WoT runs away with the lions share of it. -

Community Manager. Guys like Mr.Conway, Ectar (when he was "active" here), Ph3lan, the new girl from Texas,... Staff paid by Wargaming to manage the community (interact with the playerbase, hold contests, be the spokesperson on the forums,...) -

On the NA, the CM's actually reach out the community, and ask them what they would like to see next. And they get it. -

Mikasa, please take a step aside, I've heard they liked secondaries here! The French "turreted battleship" Masséna, one of a group of five roughly equal battleships from the 1890's. Other ships were the Charles Martel, Jauréguiberry, Bouvet, and Carnot. 2 × 305 mm/40 (12 in) Modèle 1893 guns 2 × 274 mm/45 (10.8 in) Modèle 1893 guns 8 × 138 mm/45 (5.5 in) Modèle 1888 guns 8 × 100 mm (3.9 in) guns The Masséna did have the biggest chin though! -
Adressing Great Naval Battles Event Feedback
MrFingers replied to MrConway's topic in General Discussion
Okay, that means GNB has failed, since the rewards did in no way correspond with the efforts required to earn them. I'm sorry. I was laughed at by WG-staff when I said I'd rather have the NA-event which led to a flag that gave a 5% boost in XP/credits. That is still the case, that flag outclasses everything that was in those crates, and the effort required was way less.- 158 replies

However, the numbers of active players at any given moment do not reflect that. That means there are reasons for players not to stick to the game for a considerable amount of time.

Adressing Great Naval Battles Event Feedback
MrFingers replied to MrConway's topic in General Discussion
Still, the benefits of the GNB did not outweigh the flaws it had, especially the non-event that the 12/15M goal turned out to be. IIRC, apart from the premium-ships, the crates had comparable contents as Project-R on the other servers, which was less harsh of a challenge, and with a proper end-goal. So there WG-EU missed out. It's good that the EU got some attention, the way it was done however wasn't, and this has potential to stick for a while, in a negative way. Also the total lack of ties with the actual naval battles is something which baffles me up until today. The GNB-event could have happened in August as well without any consequences. Especially the fiasco regarding the centennial anniversary of Jutland, and related to that the extortionate bundle in order to get the commemorative flag where the RU got it in a flag-bundle that was addressed at al players instead of the few that did not already own the Warspite/Campeltown for 10% of what it did cost on the EU is something that will not be forgotten. For me it's the same level of failure as the NA getting a virtually free Mikasa for New-Year, where the EU had to pay 20€ for it in a bundle. It's stuff like that that annoys and alienates the EU playerbase.- 158 replies

Maybe the winners that bought their way into the raffles for model kits and such? -
Yeah, it didn't turn out really as well as many expected it to be. I've heard the damage on the PL-forums is quite substantial though (in terms of casualties of the banhammer). Maybe that's a trait of the EU-server, that we're all a bit *too* polite and sensible in a way, and our complaints/concerns/remarks are never heard because there is no *urge* that propels it, so WG doesn't react to it because it is not perceived as "threatening". NA: ASIA: RU: EU: But I agree with the tags on this topic: WG-EU: DO SOMETHING!
-
WG could have sold a multitude of 5€ bundles, but they wanted to play it greedy, and now they probably came home virtually empty-handed. Ah well, their loss. This months gaming budget already has been diverted to other leisures.
