Tone & Kitakami are not dead. Kitakami might become a "high tier reward ship", for the Tone they are figuring out a workable hybrid playstyle. Source: live Q&A of WG-NA on Facebook.

[Suggestion] Premium Z8 "Bruno Heinemann" German Zerstörer (type 1934A)
MrFingers posted a topic in Destroyers
It's just a regular Type 1934A German destroyer, why should this be a premium? It indeed had a not too fancy career, with after the start of World War II in September 1939, she blockaded the Polish coast and searched neutral shipping for contraband. In late 1939 and early 1940 the ship made three successful minelaying sorties off the English coast that claimed 17 merchant ships. Bruno Heinemann participated in the early stages of the Norwegian Campaign by transporting troops to the Trondheim area in early April 1940. The ship was transferred to France a year later to escort German ships that used the French ports on the Atlantic coast (including the Admiral Hipper). She was returning to France in early 1942 in preparation for the Channel Dash when she struck two mines and sank off the coast of Belgium with heavy loss of life. BUT! She and her sister ship, the Z5 "Paul Jacobi" were sent on a special mission to Norway in April 1938 to test the new 15-centimeter (5.9") TbtsK C/36 gun planned for later classes of destroyers (the type 1936A and 1936A Mob, which were the successors of the Type 1936, itself being the successor if the Type 1934A). Bruno Heinemann had been fitted with four of the new weapons, in single turrets (as the double turrets were not yet complete, and wouldn't be complete until the introduction of the 1936A Mob class), but they were removed after gunnery trials off Ålesund were completed. For a WoWS-perspective, that is an interesting fact, as it effectively "Molotov-ied" a German Destroyer by replacing the original 5 5" guns with 4 5.9" guns, giving it a considerable increase of offensive firepower. The rest of the ship remained the same, so in terms of remodelling, it's not more work as was necessary as was for the Lo Yang or Anshan. How and where it would fit in the techtree is still open for debate, as nothing is known about that line. -
Got detonated in my Kamikaze, at 25hp (so would have died anyway, if not from the explosion, it would've been from the kinetic impact), harvested the flags, and carried on with another game... There I detonated a Cleveland from full health with a torpedo. Sad for him, but hey, it happens. However, I encountered this on reddit: interesting suggestion.

Russian Cruiser Tier 3 - Bogatyr gun module "upgrade"
MrFingers replied to NoCoGX's topic in General Discussion
It's not that the stats say that it's weaker, that it is weaker in gameplay. When you upgrade the Clemson's guns, you'll get a +1 in artillery rating, yet you doubled the guns. For the Bogatyr: you indeed go to smaller calibre guns, but they fire faster, and have a much flatter arc, and are thus easier for penetrating armour. With them bein 130mm, they also benefit the fullest from Basic Firing Training/Advanced Firing Training/Expert Marksman. Don't forget that in WoWS, "upgrades" don't always mean a downright "it's better", it often is "a change of flavour". -

In the same way that the GNB rewards were great, compared with the hype that was created around it. -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
MrFingers replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
So... this happened. I normally don't play in the weekends, for the reasons mentioned by Jethro Grey above me, but hey, it was raining, so I had to postpone my stroll in the countryside for half an hour... Casually loading in half a minute late in the battle (always happens when I have my first battle of the day), seeing a Tier V-max battle, 4 destroyers on each side, but two of ours were insta-nuked by cruisers at the B-cap... This could be fun. Boy oh boy, it was, going the long way 'round via C, attacking in their rear! BB's sailing in straight lines, and static carriers, I was having an absolute field day, and that for the first battle of the day! Did not take a single point of damage, was spotted once by an aircraft, but no-one even shot at me. That's an easy 152k damage towards the Campeltown-fund! You must know, I have a whopping 39 battles in my Kami, and I run my 6-point Umikaze captain in it. -
Proposal for WG: Creation of special ship "WWI Hulls" and "Random Battle WWI" and "Co-op Battle WWI" game types!

And while we're at it, give the WW1 version of the ships their historical "black smoke", also the destroyers for laying smokescreens... -

Loving the carrier event. Thanks WG!
MrFingers replied to viceadmiral123's topic in General Discussion
All I've encountered were AFK and suicide-rushing carriers, who then let it to the team to win the match for them. -

Meanwhile in Asia, they've already got 6 golden medals. (Life & Soul, Festive Soup, Fire Show, Queue Jumper, Big Roll & Shot in the Dark), Russia sits at 3, and NA none. -

NA released König Albert, Smith (Techtree) and Prinz Eugen (premium shop) this week
MrFingers posted a topic in General Discussion
http://worldofwarships.com/en/news/common/prinz-eugen-bundles/ http://worldofwarships.com/en/news/common/tech-tree-refresher/ Smith at 1050D, König Albert at 2200D, and Prinz Eugen at 48.99$ (ship+slot), plus two bundles at 59.99$ and 79.99$. Most expensive bundle comes with an exclusive flag. And now we wait. König is regarded as a baby Impregnator Nikolai I. The "unique feature" of the Prinz Eugen (which is a copy of the Admiral Hipster) is the +50% Captain XP modifier it comes with. Sting in the tail: the most expensive bundle makes the ship become available right away, the 2nd most expensive makes the ship become available on September 19th, and the ship+slot unlocks the ship the 23rd of September. That's a new thing, and it's not even trying to disguise itself as not being a moneygrab. -
Interesting info from the NA (for changes), by a dev: source Hi! Our nearest plan is to balance CV economy (and make they earn more for air superiority and less for damaging ships). At the same time, overall game economy will change, as tanking and recon will be rewarded. If all goes well, it should come in 0.5.12.Next things to consider is probably CV role and efficiency at low tiers and at the same time lack ov CVs on high tiers (which is actually bad for the game - as it also means lack of recon and less value for AA ships).
-
The discussion of subs is strictly forbidden in this game & forums... It's almost as bad as asking for the inclusion of the Imperial Germany Navy ensign...
-
Dear WG, is there any info/date when will spotting & tanking damage be added to game mechanics?
MrFingers replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Yes, 0.5.12 is plausible. source: http://forum.worldofwarships.com/index.php?/topic/95051-give-us-carriers-fighters-100-of-time-or-bring-back-2-carriers-a-team/page__pid__2328064#entry2328064- 12 replies

They had running through the ships intercom (and in the ether when there wasn't radiosilence enforced), which made the crew work harder, and thus the ship perform better. It's all historical!

[0.5.11.0] The latest update/microupdate broke the game. I load into the match 7 minutes after it has begun.
MrFingers replied to WhiskeyWolf's topic in General Discussion
Had it happen as well... This is what "fixed" it for me: 1) do this 2) run the game in "safe mode". -
Warspite in need of boosted range with matchmaker mod
MrFingers replied to AB_Cunningham's topic in Battleships
It's starting to get a bit boring being at Tier VIII all the time. A whopping 21k damage, before being burned to the waterline by outranged HE-spamming scrubs. -

I received "Rise of the Machines" after my 5th kill (2 consecutive battles, 4 kills + 1 kill) and "King of the Party", without doing "Run Admiral, Run".Maybe "KoTP" is awarded to players without any carriers in their port, when they've fulfilled all the 8 other missions? -
More carriers for me to feast on as a DD (Kamikaze R here)... It ain't too shabby nowadays, most of the CV-players I've encountered are too focussed on going after the easy BB kills, and leave the DDs alone... Okay, you get spotted a bit more than usual, but by hugging islands and following an unpredictable path, it's easily avoided. I find the cruisers with Radar/Hydro way more annoying.
-
Cleveland... I've elited it last week (in order to fulfil the 50kXP thing for the Campeltown-mission), but it wasn't a pleasure. All the other ships I have I do (reasonably) well in, and the Cleveland also boasts a 58% WR, but nah... I did not enjoy it the least.

The issue: WG(NA?) has invented a new way of releasing new ships, the "delayed reward" one. For when a new ship is added to the Premium Shop, it is currently available in three versions: the plain ship + slot, the ship and a small bundle (with a small discount), and the ship with a large bundle (and a bigger discount), all priced at different levels, with the plain ship being the cheapest. Now WG seems to have added a new "feature". When you buy the ship in the most expensive bundle, there is no issue, you'll get your ship right away. If you buy the small bundle or the plain ship, that's where it changes. You don't get your ship right away. For the Eugen on the NA, you have to wait more than a week in order to buy and sail it if you buy the small bundle, and add a few days extra to that if you buy the plain ship. Seldom have I ever observed such disdain and insulting move from a company towards its paying customers. Rather than a "Thank you for your continued support" and showing true appreciation of your paying playerbase, that staggered release announcement reaks of a cold boardroom coming to a conclusion on how to squeeze every coin out of the players as is humanly possible. Combine this with the recent knowledge of how money is spent across the servers, and it's a downright slap to the cheek... with a fist... by Chuck Norris. WoWS finally righted itself in terms of reputation and how it was regarded by the community when the atrocious bundle policy was removed, and ships became available without forced extra's... This was again rectified with several premium ships becoming available in a "semi-permanent" way in the techtree, purchasable for doubloons. All this is now threatened to be washed away by this new scheme. [quote name= We'll have different bundles releasing on different days all month long. Pick up the "Deluxe" bundle right away -- it comes with a cool custom flag and other great extras, or grab the "Fully Loaded" bundle on September 19. If you just want the ship, pick up the basic "Prince of the Sea" bundle September 23.

From what we currently know Between 8 & 16 september: Anniversary challenges: play the game, do stuff, get bonusses along the way Between 17 & 19 september: Birthday weekend: If you've played X games since the beginning, you'll receive Y "dragon"-flags, which will yield +333XP. It's a consumable, so you have to place a new flag every new battle. If you win a battle, you'll get 10 of those "dragon"-flags, as well as a non-beneficial commemorative flag. It was announced that there would be discounts and special missions. No-one knows what that might be. Could be fancy, could be a damp squib, could be anything in between.
