WG: Please Ban The Mod That Place 'X' on the Map
MrFingers replied to TheFierceRabbit's topic in General Discussion
It helps greatly in conjunction with the "last known position"-function on the minimap. That way you can pretty easily work out accurate enough coordinates (X via the normal reticle and minimap, Y via the minimap marker of the mod) of a ship that dissapeared from view (slowed down in smoke, or unspotted), and hit them. I tried that mod, and I found it disgusting, so I removed it after a few battles. Yes, you can use the spotterplane for the same purpose, but it requires substantial training, and it has a cooldown. -
Since yesterday it's possible to have earned the Aigle for free with the mission marathon, doing 18 out of 26 missions. So, how is that set of missions going for you lot? I'm currently at 17 completed missions. I could do all without too much issues except the "hit 150 main battery shells and win". I'm not the best cruiser-pilot here around (ahum!), nor do I have true dakka-dakka ships, so I knew that one would probably be one of the toughest missions for me around. Twice I exceeded the 150 hits comfortably, only for the team to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, and once I got really close on a victorious battle with 148 hits. Will probably get the Aigle on Wednesday because I'm not that kind of player who regularly gets 1750+ BXP. The "do X, win and survive"-requirements were also nerve-wracking since I'm not the person who's that into surviving a battle (if you gotta pay the full service fee anyway, better get my money worth of it, and use the ship as a damage-sponge). Owning the Nelson made stuff a whole lot easier for a lot of missions. The "in a single battle"-missions were always completed within 10 tries, often within 5. All in all a reasonable campaign for a nice reward (both the ships and the camo's/flags). Just a little bit too hot on the tails of the North Cape Campaign, so I wasn't fully recuperated from that one before I "had" to dive in this one. And thanks WG for the free ship. It sure beats "sink 20 Russian cruisers of T8-10" ;)

How is your progress with campaign "Gold of France" (of three stages)?
MrFingers replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Being? -
I seriously like mine. It's better than the Monarch (then again, that is not difficult). I play it like an AP-Nelson. (2102 BXP, I play standard account)

Please re-introduce the loading-screens from Alpha/Beta please.

What is it with Battleship HE spam??!?
MrFingers replied to darkstar73's topic in General Discussion
When I'm sailing a British BB, I tend to use HE from time to time (especially with low-calibre guns like the KGV/DoY). But that's about it. Never fired HE in my German, American or Japanese Battlewagons. And Nelson HE can citadel quite a few cruisers it encounters, and wreck modules along the way. Poor Atlanta that I encountered yesterday didn't know what hit him: HE citadel, double fire, 3 turrets knocked out, as well as one torpedo launcher and the rudder & engine. From one salvo at 11 kms. -

I agree, stage II was absolutely terrible. On a bright note, all 4 the ships dropped from French Containers, yesterday I received the mission of the Lyon. -
Ah, the infamous "Stage 5" of the old Weekly Missions, EU style.

At a 19pt commander, it's 125.000 XP that's needed. which is a quite a few games.

Dear WG - please consider making available single type "Signal Flag" bundles in "Premium Shop" just like NA and RU!
MrFingers replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
on the PTS you can buy them for doubloons in-game. Same rate as the non-discounted flags on the NA-Premium-Shop. Maybe (finally) a way for us EU players in 0.7.3?- 165 replies

And fun... So fun I don't even bother going to the FdG or Kurfurst, I just stick on the Bismarck with my 19-pointer, raking in Commander XP.

Yes, Kitty Purfurst has eaten a (crucial) server-hamster once again.

Is it navelforce or navalforce? One of the two e-mail adresses is wrong me thinks.

Aigle marathon, how's your progress been so far?
MrFingers replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
Just did 7.5k BXP, so Aigle is mine. -
At least give it German hydro ;)
-
BASE XP, so raw xp, without modifiers (so not with a premium modifier). You only did 1363 BXP

Funny and sad game situations shown with map screenshots.

Miraculously, we actually won this. And only because I was sailing in the Nelson, with the trollish heal. I stayed in the inner 2 rings for the entirety of the battle, and luckily the carriers didn't know the Nelson has poor AA. When I was nearly down, the DoY and the Cleveland turned back and supported me with pushing away the Colorado, Aigle and Myoko. Survived as well, with an obvious Dreadnought & Fireproof. -

Yeah, without T8 BB, it was going to be very rough... a bit questionable in terms of mission-design. -

Stage 2, Mission 1&2, yet 500/1000 ribbons to go. Luckily the Richelieu dropped from one of the containers after Stage 1, so I have a “fast”-track towards completion (using co-op ribbonfarming). Probably will get it done before the deadline, because I’m already at 17/18 of the Aigle-marathon, so I can resume to non-mission-restricted gameplay next week. -
Gremy is a gunboat, not really that well-versed for torping. Gallant is a very nice ship for this. But it’s hampered by a slow torpedo reload (make every volley count). Stay 6.2kms away from enemies, and try to outflank the enemy BB’s.

Battleship HE works miracles. In a T9-battle with my Nelson (so spamming HE was justified) I knocked out 105 modules in a single battle. Every AA-mount counts for one, so a 16” HE shell blasts away dozens at a time when you hit a B.B. superstructure. As for torpedoes... Atlanta isn’t the most ideal for this, to say the least. Again: did it in the first battle with the Kamikaze, but Pan-Asian DD’s are even better suited for that.

Grinding - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
MrFingers replied to dayofmone's topic in General Discussion
I think a lot could have been alleviated by having these French missions (Aigle, Gold of France, Vive La France Collection) being placed back by a month or two. If you look at it, the requirements aren't that absurd or harsh compared to stuff we had in the past (pre & post event unification). But now they came back-to-back after the grindfest called Battle of the North Cape/New Year Raid, which burned out quite a lot of people due to the last stages of those campaigns (75k XP for 1/3 of the progress, 90k torpedo damage in a single battle,...). Some time to recuperate would have been nice, being able to play the game without string attached without the fear of missing out on something. Same with clan-wars and ranked that follow eachother in the matter of "hours". Don't get me wrong, I'm very thankful for the generosity WG displays (it has been different in the past for our region), and free stuff is free stuff, but having stuff like that spaced out a bit more would have been nice. It also may create an expectation from the community that every other month we're eligible for such a major event, which I doubt will happen. Sure, there is the announced Varyag (T3 Russian Armoured Cruiser) that's slated to be a reward ship according to WG-Fest info, but apart from that, I wonder what else they can "give" away in 2018. I do have my severe doubts though about the RNG-missions to fast-track the T5-8 BB's though. Stuff like that shouldn't be given away at random. A fixed "do X, get Y" like the British BB's is a better way of handling such releases. And I'm not being salty, as I've been rewarded the T5,6 & 8 already, without spending a single penny on a container, and still have 20+ containers to go. -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
MrFingers replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
RNG was kind for me today, and the Richelieu-mission dropped from the last of the 5 containers of Stage 1. Had Bretagne and Normandie as well. Aim for Lyon now. -
PAPIEREN!!!!!!!! A DD pops up well inside of secondary gunrange, and your main armament happens to be conveniently turned to the right side anyway.
