Super Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]
MrFingers replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
"Oh, @Yuzral is online, better pop over for some lewd commentary. Oh, he's giving away CC containers, might as well join the raffle... wait what, I won? Better log in in the game to see what the container would drop..." My first true container-ship. Got a Mutsu from a X-mas container as well, but that was a less RNG-flavoured reward. -
And back to the front page. Apart from being "a nice bunch of people on Discord", we also have a decently equipped clan-base, have clan-battle opportunities,... Join up today if you're into historical stuff!

I don't think it's Lesta that's to blame, but the accountants in Nicosia who are giving directions to Lesta on implementing stuff that allows the monetisation Cyprus has in mind.

Special forums, special bundles with otherwise unavailable content, ability to test-drive new ships like CC's & ST's can,...

WG, for the next events, can we PLEASE return to a situation where not everything is time-gated and drip-fed with ridiculously short intervals?

I've read that MrConway has attached this topic to his "situation/feedback report". Let's hope it gets acted upon, fast. -

Hint: look in the little red rectangles. -
They are limited. It's to prevent "farming" by people who leave their twitch open 24/7.

If you're lucky, you stay away for long enough to see all your purchased-but-sold premiums restored for free (that's right, no credits/doubloons deducted), and some gifts on top of that. Weird logic, but hey, whatever floats their boat.

Everything You Need to Know About the Royal Navy Destroyers Collection - Discussion Thread
MrFingers replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
A bit of a late bump, but I think I got the reason. It's coming from WG-NA. Back in the spring of 2016, they had the "Military Appreciation Month", with a small & easy mission-chain (win a battle, hit 10 torpedoes, sink 10 ships, set 30 fires, deal 600k damage, all doable in PvE in 31 days time) that awarded a signal flag. But that signal flag had built-in bonuses (+5% XP earned, +5% Commander XP earned, +5% Credits earned), so people who had that flag just flew that flag, and all the other flags that came later were ignored. So by having the option to mount 2 flags, the ability to collect flags on NA isn't useless. Having commemorative flags with economic bonuses to them has since then been regarded as bad practice, that's why no other server ever got those flags, nor there will be any flags in the future that have them. Exceptions are the Alpha-tester flag KOTS-flag, WG-staff/dev/ST flags & the flags for community contributors. -

Update 0.7.11: Rule, Britannia! - Discussion Thread
MrFingers replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
The same as Fujin <-> Kamikaze (R). Identical ships, Identical specs, Identical bonusses for the camo's, just the looks of the camo will be different. -
Musashi & Krohnstadt to be removed from sale (both coal & FXP) in 0.8.0.
MrFingers replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
I can see FXP being devaluated further and further more (due to it becoming easy to farm with operations+flags+camo's), thus WG will be inclined to make less & less stuff available for it. -
Except they are, it's in the patchnotes under "Patches, Emblems & Flags"

Yes, it's the uncle of Balancedfast, Balankaze, Balancachshy, Balancaré, Impregnator Balance & Balancov. -
So that means that participation is required from week 1, there will be time-gating with daily-intervals and no way to catch up like previous years??? yeah... we'll see how that pans out!

ST. New year events. Dear players! Steel is a valuable resource that is used to unlock rare ships. At the moment it is awarded only to active participants of Clan and Ranked battles. After adding steel to the game, we received many requests to make it more obtainable. This is understandable, because not everyone has the opportunity to play in competitive modes effectively and regularly. To celebrate the New Year we have prepared 4 game events, and by participating in them you will get a lot of great prizes, including some steel. This doesn't mean that we are now planning to constantly create events like this, but it's the New Year and as you know, this is a time for surprises. So here's what awaits you: «In The Name Of His Highness!» event The new game event «In the Name of His Highness!» is dedicated to the heyday of armored ships of the early 20th century. It will last 4 weeks. There are 4 stages of the event. Each stage consists of 4 directives. Each Directive contains 10 to 11 tasks. There is a corresponding reward of camouflage, signals, Christmas containers and even steel. And continuing our new year's tradition, the main prize will be a new premium tier VI German battleship - Prinz Eitel Friedrich! Rules for completing directives are similar to the Royal Navy event. After the completion of all directives, access to the Hall of Fame is unlocked, for which points can be earned in co-op, random, ranked, clan, scenario or special battles. Snowflakes. Snowflakes are a one-time new year bonus, which is active as part of update 0.7.12. The bonus will work on tech-tree ships from tiers V to X and premium and promo ships from tiers II to X. To "blow off a snowflake" from the ship, you need to go into battle in any mode except Training room and win. For this you will receive resources for the Arsenal: coal and steel. The higher the level - the more resources you get. The bonus may be “blown off” only once for each ship during the event. This means that the more ships you have in the port, the more resources you can get for the Arsenal. «Mighty Prinz» campaign This is a temporary thematic campaign that will allow you to earn new year containers for the «Beautiful era» collection and get tier VI tech-tree ships. To participate in this campaign, you will need the battleship Prinz Eitel Friedrich, whose permanent camouflage will be the main reward. «Steel giants» campaign It will be available for purchase in the premium store. The campaign is dedicated to the construction of ships in the early 20th century. By completing its tasks and missions, you can get camouflage, signals, «Secret Santa» containers and steel. In addition, there will be specific combat missions in update 0.7.12, and completing them will get you steel. Thus, everyone will be able to choose their favourite activities, and we hope that the celebration will be successful. At the same time, the total amount of steel that can be obtained during the new year's activities is not so high as to devalue this rare resource and the efforts of those who earned it by playing in competitive modes. Please note that the information in the Development Blog is preliminary.

And it looks delicious, since no fictitious WW2-refit, a thing which has killed the interest in the PEF/"Mackensen" for me.

Clan Battles: "North" Season - Discussion Thread
MrFingers replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
What Voodoo says: it will level the playing field a bit more, and will yield statistics about the balance/"balance" of the ship because with rentals a wider playerbase (also "bad players") can get their hands on the ship. For now the stats do show it's kind of overperforming. Maybe that will tone down which proves the overperforming is because of the skilled players, not the ship. -

Yes, but there are also holidays where people go skiing (or in my case: raclette-ing, because I think sports is a scam invented by chiropractors), but also exams, busy times in companies due to end-of-year stuff that needs to be pushed,... I indeed see that the season has been extended, which is, in all fairness, a nice gesture! -
Clan Battles: "North" Season - Discussion Thread
MrFingers replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Apart from it indeed downright silly to have (major) events going on during the Holiday-season (and again with little or no time for recuperation from previous events), you've been so witty & wry as of lately I always look forward to your comments. When it's not for the actual info they provide, it's just for the subtle jabs and nudges. -

To the WG-staff that might be lurking here, as you can see, plenty of people who reacted are experiencing quite a fatigue... Any remedies planned? -

To be fair, the time-limit is there due to game-limitations. There is no actual time-limit. On 31/12/2018 the enddate will move to 31/12/2019. This has been confirmed by multiple WG-staff. -

I want to grind for stuff to get free, but the issue is that every event is now the same in terms of requirement-style: riddled with artificial speedbumps that take out any initiative from the player. WG dictates you when to play, the player has either to comply or miss out completely. It wouldn’t be as bad if there was a variety, with some time-gated events and some to be completed at the player’s own pace. -

Hedgehog, you’re kind of missing the point. It’s not about getting stuff for free, but the method to do so, which evolved from a nice variety of time-gated and non-time-gated events to a 100% timegated schedule which took away every form of planning/scheduling from the player. Having a lot of events isn’t of much use if the events themselves are just not fun, nor are creating the effect they are aimed at (cfr a recent Q&A with Sub-Octavian where he explained WG wants a lot of events, and have them in short succession, in order to keep the playerbase entertained. The reactions both here and Reddit do show that they don’t create much entertainment, quite the opposite, which boils down to the atrocious time-gating, since the rewards and requirements as such are not the issue since those are (very) reasonable). You’re more than entitled to your opinion, but given that so far no-one else has chimed in to support you does illustrate that what I’m saying is not pulled out of thin air.
