December’s Combat Missions - Discussion Thread

To put it in perspective, these were the requirements to get the Varyag (T3 Russian cruiser, with a more famous career than Dreadnought (a ship that has rammed a submarine, but apart from that was notable for always being in port/docks when the major battles unfolded)). All to be done in T5+ ships, PvP or PvE. win 10 battles (14 days time) earn 2M credits (14 days time) earn 1000 ribbons (14 days time) final reward: 1 supercontainer win 5 battles (7 days time) do 65k damage in a victorious battle (7 days time) earn 20k XP (after modifiers were applied) (7 days time) sink 2 ships in a victorious battle (7 days time). The only time-gating applied was that you had to do the first mission set in 2 weeks, and the 2nd mission set in 1 week. If you completed one stage, you could directly proceed with the next mission. By comparison, this Dreadnought marathon is WAY more grindy for less rewards, due to the artificial braking with "only 2 missions per day".

Impossible to buy Santa Gifts frome Belgium or Luxembourg?

Paid lootcrates are considered gambling by the Belgian government, and are thus subject to the laws & regulations of online casino's, which means: "don't promote it to minors, add an age-check to make sure that minors can't participate and have a license for organising gambling". WG chose not to follow the rules and not to request a license, but instead make purchasing of crates impossible when located in Belgium, thus exempting them from having to comply to Belgian law. It's not our government's fault, it's WG who decided they did not want to comply and go for the "we'll ban it ourselves"-route. Probably because that was cheaper & easier than to be compliant, since the Belgian market is marginal at best in terms of gains.

Hearts of Oak recruitment thread [HOO]

Don't worry about it, neither did I. But it's fairly intuitive, and you don't need apps and such for the likes, I just have it as a clickable link in my Firefox-browser. @Fat_Maniac looks like we've got some new meat for the grinder!
  5. We are sponsored by Beteshda.
  6. #MerryLittleShipmas (to proof it's not photoshop due to the filters of Snapseed, but an actual physical item)
  7. That’s also my opinion, but there are a lot of Belgians who don’t share our opinion.
  8. Just make a twitch account (it's free), link it to your WoWS account, and then "watch" WoWS-streams (also free, no need to subscribe, following is free). "Watch". There is no need to actually watch, you can just click on the streamer, set the resolution to 160P and mute the sound, and let it run in the background, while you browse/game/work on another tab or screen or computer. It's easily farmable, free & requires no effort. And I'm an old sock myself.
  9. Belgian here, and for me it worked without any issue, even without having to relogging, restarting,... Maybe contact support?
  10. They are considered gambling if they have these 4 points: It has to have a gaming-part. It has to have a clear wage. It has to have a chance to win or lose. It has to have a random factor. The "chance to win or lose" does not mean "you either cash in, or your wage vanishes", it means "you either receive the big prize (ships, coal,...) which is winning, or you get the consolation prize (flags, camo's), which is losing". The perceived value of the items has no impact. The paid crates of WG tick all four boxes very firmly, it is gambling. Just not in the most abusive way, but nevertheless: gambling. You gamble on getting a big prize (ships), there is a random chance you might get it and it costs you money to participate.

  12. Does that mean that if a Belgian player enters the premium shop from a WiFi in a French boulangerie near Amiens or a Dutch coffeeshop near Delft he can access the offers, or has WG made it so that if the profile says you live in Belgium, you can’t buy containers, whether you are currently in Brussels, Tokyo, Berlin or Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch? (Not for me, I have no interest in gambling, I’m more than satisfied with the 2 free crates upon logging in, and the ones I can earn by playing and maybe watching a stream)
  13. Bought: 0 rewards: 0 and keep in mind: “it’s not because some streamer/CC gets a pretty favourable droprate of premium ships, that the ordinary player gets the same kind of droprate. It could very well be tampered with to entice the audience to buy “since the odds appear to be favourable”...”

At least 3 months of 0 activity (not logging in in any of the "World Of..." titles, no forum use, no logged in portal use,...). Then there is a chance you are legible for a "return gift", but the criteria for those are not disclosed. Most dormant accounts were inactive for 6+ or 12+ months.
  15. Are there plans for "Super-Twitch"-containers, which have a content outside the envelope of normal contents? Not talking about T8 premium ships, but small number of doubloons, or coal, or...
  16. 100k credits, 10 standard flags, 5 premium consumables. That was the case in the "test-season". IIRC WG only has adjusted the droprates, not the contents.

    Verdict on Nelson?

I use mine to great effect, it's my go-to Premium ship, and I use it to unwind. You can use it as an HE-spammer, but its AP is so very potent!

    Rare Super container Drops

Yes, any premium ship, apart from the very most recent ones, Alpha & Beta ships, carriers, and the steel-exclusives (Flint, Black, Bourgogne, Stalingrad) can drop from supercontainers. So it can range from Emden to Missouri, from Aurora to Belfast, from Nikolai I to Massachusetts.

Super Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]

I kept a tally of what I'd gotten from December 1st 2017 until today. I always picked TYL containers, since I'm already flooded with flags & camo's, and I'm not collecting coal deliberately. I use Expert-Loader to great success. It sits on my Conqueror/Nelson/DoY/Hood/Warspite commander.

Look at my signature. Every non-cursive ship is a ship I got for free (as in: non monetary way). As a F2P player to boot... That must be the horror for you!
