Poll: Will you keep playing the game after v.8.0 goes live?
MrFingers replied to Jean_Bart's topic in General Discussion
No randoms for me, that’s for sure. Also burned-out (again) by the tedious PEF-campaign and its assorted shenanigans. -
I want a simple button that changes all hideous camouflages to variations of "Type 1, 2 & 5" with the tick on one checkbox, without having to sacrifice the benefits of the bonuses. Yeah, I know there are a lot of talented artists at WG, but I'm not that fond of seeing a big metal eagle or blue-hued futuristic phallus sailing around on the high-seas.

Not having to touch that thing ever again if I don't want to. -
It's a lacklustre ship, but if you somewhat abandon "tried & tested" BB-tactics, and go for the BB-cruiser hybrid, it can perform well. It has little "carry-potential" though.

EU Weekend Server Issues - Compensation
MrFingers replied to MrConway's topic in News & Announcements
IIRC, only the non time-limited collections have the "harsh" conversion-rate of 5 duplicates to 1. Time-limited ones were, to my knowledge, always confined to 3-to-1 or 4-to-1, thus easing it up considerably. Maybe the Belle Epoque collection was a bit poorly thought-out in that regard (not the collection itself, that one is fine, albeit a bit boring/conservative/sparse with the final rewards), with not enough containers to be earned in the initial PEF-event to guarantee a completion over the 4 directives, thus requiring players to start in the "techtree-ship"-campaign to gather yet other containers. I get what you're saying though. -
EU Weekend Server Issues - Compensation
MrFingers replied to MrConway's topic in News & Announcements
I'm a bit puzzled about the actual use of the Belle Epoque containers (why not use santa-container(s)?), apart from "hey 20 more oil for the clan". The days of premium is a nice, but nothing more than correct, gesture. -
Basically:
-
2 days of (relatively) carefully planned premium time down the drain, and a strain on the planning for grinding out the PEF-steel and techtree ships. Getting a bit miffed about it. Luckily no valuable signals/flags lost due to being careful.

Can’t even log in... I need my daily dose of PEF-masochism.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

Just encountered @Major_Damage225, on the opposite team, both in PEF’s. RNG was on my side, but dispersion not on his. Well-fought though! -
One can do well in it, if RNG is at your side, and it has zero "carry-potential"... But it's about as fun as chopping your testicles off with a wooden spoon (and not a sharpened one). The question arises: is the 1619 steel worth the extended masochism?

Bump. I live in Belgium, so I spent 0€. This was my haul from the free/earned containers. 50x ESCL flags (free small container) 50x ZH flags (free small container) 10k FXP (daily mission small container) 4x NY camo (daily mission small container) 50x ZH flags (free small container from twitch) 2k doubloons (won mega container Panzerknacker) 20x NY camo (won mega container Panzerknacker) 4x NY camo (daily login reward small container) 50x ZH flags (daily login reward small container) 12500 coal (WG Ornament contest big container) 30 Basilisk (WG ornament contest big container) 50 Zulu (stage 1 PEF campaign small container) 50 Zulu Hotel (stage 2 PEF campaign small container) 50 Zulu (Stage 3 PEF campaign small container) 50 Zulu Hotel (completing "Belle Epoque" collection) As for "bang4buck", it is "over 9000", since it didn't cost me a dime. As for actual contents: meh. I'm already flooded with flags. The coal was nice though. Ofcourse no ship whatsoever, because I never get container shipdrops (except one from a CC container). -
[GLOBAL VOTING] Camouflage Design Contest - Leningrad and Minsk
MrFingers replied to SeaSickOllie's topic in News & Announcements
Maybe that's the case, but there is also something like "good taste" and "not trying to brutalise certain demographics by promoting/displaying stuff that can (and is) highly polarising and is considered highly offensive". Which is something WG always has been rather bad at with its shameless double standards regarding totalitarian regimes. It's just very poor and pathetic from WG's side, there is no way around it. -
So I got the PEF by combining the white anniversary-camo (+50% credits) with every credit-modifying flag conceivable (Zulu, Wyvern, Basilisk, Leviathan & Scylla), which powered me through the 24M credits required in 33 battles. Easymode with Musashi, Nelson, Scharnhorst & Alabama, which took only 4 battles per nation on average to get them. A tad harder with the Richelieu since I don't have any French premiums, but it was doable (that spotty gunperformance though!)... And then as final nation, I had to pick the Russians, and the OktoRev was the only ship I have of that nation that could be used... 12 battles was what it took to get the needed 4M credits, and I hated every single one of those. So I exchanged 33 camo's and 165 flags for the PEF, 500 Steel and 19M credits in profit... Was that worth it? Not really to be honest, since the PEF is quite underwhelming (I like the DoY even more), the steel is nice, and the credits are downright useless. But I wanted that Belle Epoque collection completed for the sake of having no incomplete collections, and there is no way that the PEF-directives give enough containers to complete it in one go. So now I'm doing the PEF-campaign to get the necessary containers (requirements are also harsher than last year and the year before that...WG, why?!?). And then there is the steel campaign, but I'm already burned out from that final stage that I'm not looking forward to start with that one, especially since the PEF is not enjoyable to play tbh. I had to take a break from the game from the 20th of December due to a family issue, and only could restart playing last Tuesday, with renewed desire and courage... We're now 6 days further, and I've arrived at a point where I want (and going) to take a break from the game once again. Is that what you aim for WG with these directives, requirements and missions WG? And I consider myself fortunate that I was able to stack credit modifiers, and had 4 nations with premiums to ease up the grind. Is that the signal you want to give to newer-ish players who don't have those ships, or 6 nations advanced far enough to gain decent credits?
-
When you stack flags, premium and a high-tier premium ship, you can get obscene credit gains in good battles, thus cutting seriously in time needed to complete a directive... But a campaign should not be made "easy mode" by being able to stack stuff. The last stage is just poorly thought out, nothing more, nothing less. Apart from giving me the PEF, it also gave me a renewed desire to take yet another break from it for a considerable time.
-
5/6, now doing the Ruskies, and I only have the OktoRev... it's going to be a long Monday evening!
-
Remains the question: what do I do with the 24M credits that are added to the 200M+ I already have?!?
-
What absolutely kills it is having to do it for 6 nations separately. Sure, the final stage of the DoY-campain was also ridiculous, but at least there weren't nation restrictions (except the British torpedo mission), and you could repeat tasks. Grinding 24M is tedious but doable, but having to spread it over 6 nations is taking it 6 bridges too far. I count myself blessed that I have a range of premium ships, premium time (from the collection) and hoard flags & camo's, which makes for 600k average battles, but I've lost the will to play AGAIN after a few days.
-
I've now arrived at directive IV after a forced break over X-mas/NY. I don't really want the PEF, but I want that silly collection to be completed, and I'm not having enough containers. So I'll have to get the PEF so I can do that campaign for the techtree ships that drop extra containers. USA, UK, JAP & GER shouldn't be an issue, FRA can be a bit difficult, but RU is going to be rough, since I only have the Oktosdjoiezjrùipozjio Revoljdsofiezhjipojs=dlkfjeziùojlk. Ah well, still got 5 days (can't play in the weekends).

40/62 in plain holiday season for a historically but not military significant portqueen is too much for time invested. I sit at 7/40, also because of a grave family issue. -

I hope my 3 containers come with an added seal of Conway & Crysantos "Seal of Approval", with the added RNG-tampering because WG-hacks! It was a silly and rather low-ish effort attempt from my side (hey, using scissors isn't that easy), more for giggles than for serious, but I had fun, and I hope you all had as well. -
