2nd directive: 15k coal. Being a naughty boy and buying Smolensk: 25 Hydra -
I checked and there are currently 4 positions open, which are waiting to be filled. your stats don't matter your preferred gamemode doesn't matter. the amount of battles played doesn't matter the number of high-tier ships doesn't matter The sole thing we ask in return is that you have a interest (=/= knowledge) in naval history, you are sociable (we're all rather laid-back persons, but our backgrounds differ wildly, so do our ages) be active (doesn't mean daily attendance: real life comes first), and do your fair share of oil-farming within what is possible for you. but most importantly: you have a distinct disliking for Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver and John Torode. Because Ainsley Harriott is where it's at. Gregg Wallace is being tolerated though, just don't push it if you want to keep it that way. Yeah bwoy! HOO does offer: a properly built-out clanbase (all buildings maxed, except the steel port (2/3) and our officers club (because we want to keep it at this size)), a friendly discord server open to all kinds of shenanigans & discussions, memes, news, historical naval stuff,... clan-battle opportunities in 2 teams (voicecoms mandatory for this part, as well as owning T10 ships. Rentals are allowed in the B-team) a weekly scenario-session on Tuesday where we aim to get the 5*****, even on Newport. on Sunday we have our weekly "Sunday Fleet Engagement", where we recreate historical battles or alternate scenarios, or sometimes silly fun. training abilities should you desire to get better at a certain ship. There is a lot of knowledge in our clan on how to best work a certain ship(type). Also a LOT of knowledge on how not to do it! a very favourable game-life balance. Real life comes first: always. If you're unable to participate in stuff or be absent for a long while, if you let it know in advance, that's totally alright. HOO is "casual with dedication", and will remain so. mild mockery of the French.

Roma - Tier VIII Premium Italian BB suggestion
MrFingers replied to ImperialAdmiral's topic in Battleships
Bump. Picked this ship up with the 25% coupon and a pile of dormant doubloons that weren't seeing any use for years now. Nice looking ship, and comfortable to sail. And those 15" guns are comfortable to aim... But that dispersion really needs looking at. -
Directives... FFS, diversify your events. Directives became boring a few patches ago, it's always the same (format), it's always the same missions, and in the end it turns out you have to buy additional crates because the rewards don't add up.

[0.8.8.1] Solution to the "red skies" problem.
MrFingers replied to Tanatoy's topic in News & Announcements
I only have it with certain ships on certain maps -
The 25% coupon for Premium Ships in the Armory. Are you going to pick something up?
MrFingers posted a topic in General Discussion
So, 0.8.8 brought the introduction of a 25% discount coupon for the Armoury, which you can use on any premium ship that is available in there. Looks like a nice opportunity to spend some of the doubloons one may have laying around without anything (worthwhile) to spend it on. So I was wondering, who is going to indulge in this offer? A 25% discount for T8 premium ships is more than we normally get (from 2015 to 2018 it was -15% maximum), however it is lower than T6-T7 discounts (used to be -30%, -40% during Santa 2017 for T6) and way lower than the -50% of T2-5 Premiums. I just have enough doubloons on my account that I can buy Roma at -25%, with doubloons trickling in every now & then from missions & containers, and having not spent it on anything in ages because lack of (interesting) offers. So Roma is being contemplated. Yes, it's a T8 that hasn't aged well and is basically cannon-fodder, and I thoroughly disliked the Monarch which somewhat plays alike. However, it did exist, and it's from an actual relevant navy. If I have Diana (free), Murmansk (free) & OktoRev (free), there is little excuse not to have an Italian ship in the lineup. Spending actual money however is right out of the question. What about you? -

I did it. Probably silly, but I wanted a BB from an actual relevant navy. -
World of Warships is sailing to Greece!
MrFingers replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Don't mock T10 Belgian Battleship "A4"! The fastest and biggest warship Belgium had at the outbreak of WW2! Yes, it's a Mersey-class trawler that was scheduled to be scrapped, but we found out that we didn't have a ship anymore to carry our gold to the UK when Germany visited us again. -
WG can maybe investigate sustainable and worthwhile methods of monetizing WoWS, instead of hiding everything in crates, which is the easy & lazy (and sick) way. And indeed, WG stopped catering for the casual players in the end of 2018, when their events went from "challenging but entirely doable even when strapped for time or not being able to be in the game each and every day" to "yeah, if you want stuff, WoWS now became your (second) job... Oh, or you can pay to buy lootboxes to ease up on the time/grind required".
-
Official explanation: "Campaigns come with their own set of difficulties, like completing a mission you haven't selected, and the spreadsheets show that not a lot of players are currently working on the campaigns". Real explanation: "A Campaign works, but is hard to monetize. A directive like done for Kuznetsov & Auboyneau, where one virtually has to buy lootboxes to get enough tokens brings in more money" On the anniversary-stream, they announced a new legendary Italian commander. Given the tremendous backlash WG got about the ridiculous requirements & paywalling of Kuznetsov & Auboyneau, it's not going to be a purchasable commander with tokens (as was the case with these two), but it will be a reward for a collection, with items that can be earned by collecting containers... by completing missions in a directive (and only via there, not completable via daily containers or other means), so again time-limited and with lootcrates. Either way, you're going to get prodded in the pooper anyhow.

It just picks from the pool of T6 ships you don't already have.
-
As long as that ship sits in water, it's just throwing money into a bottomless bit, since the bottom keeps rusting out.

Time for German T10 BB with 48cm Guns :)

They also said no submarines: every They also said no premiums higher than T8 ... -
I don't care that it's silly, I need my 18" fix at T4!
-
Spreadsh1ts are saying you are having fun nonetheless! (But indeed, the Hosho-spam is unreal and is killing what little incentive there is to play T3-5 faster than the atrocious matchmaker).

HMS Hawkins & HMS London (County Class) heavy cruisers teased on Facebook.
MrFingers replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
Keep in mind that techtree ships are a “representative” of the entire class, and thus might get stuff that was installed on certain members of that class, but not on the nameship itself. -

MrFingers replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
Yes we do. They showed clearly a 3-funnel County-class model (in the modelling software) on stream yesterday. London will get its unique refit with the boxy superstructure and 2 funnels (as been hinted by the teaser). -
Premium Ships - should Coal/Steel ships be immune from specific Nerfs like bought Premium Ships are?
MrFingers replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
An actual law stands above (and trumps) any agreement or EULA that is in violation with those laws (as per paragraph 14 of said EULA). There is a part in the lawbook regarding Digital Content that basically nails that backdoor in the EULA firmly shut. An item can be upgraded or improved without repercussion, but never downgraded. The only way WG could get around that is by offering a 100% monetary refund (thus "annulling the sale"), which is something WG will never do, and can never do, because how the hell are you going to refund a string of lootboxes where one of the "naughty ships" fell out from. Me personally I don't think that freemiums/premiums should be exempt from rebalancing, but only if a proper reimbursement is offered for those who do not wish to continue to use said product after it has been reworked and brought back in line. With the emphasis on proper (that does not mean doubloons). As long as WG can't/won't deliver that, I'm opposed to reworking stuff to bring it back in line, and WG should do its homework before releasing it into the wild. -
I managed to citadel a Chester from 6km distance. I demand a refund!

From the WG Anniversary-stream: the British cruiser-line will be split from T5 onwards into a heavy & light branch. The line will have decent armour & deck armour, all have single-fire torpedoes. Zombie-heal from T8 onwards. Line to be expected "somewhere in 2020" T5: HMS Hawkins: 7x1 190 mm guns; Torpedoes 2x2 533 mm, 76mm belt: really important in terms of laying out the Washington Naval Treaty-standards, as well as being the first British heavy cruiser. T6: HMS Devonshire: County class: 4x2 203 mm guns; Torpedoes 2x4 533 mm; Armor belt 114 mm. T7: HMS Surrey: design from actual RN Blueprints. 4x2 203 mm guns. Torpedoes 2x4 533 mm. Armor belt 152 mm. T8: HMS Bedford: 3x3 203 mm guns. Torpedoes 2x4 533 mm. Armor belt 152 mm. Full fictional WG design. T9: HMS Drake: 3x3 234 mm guns. Torpedoes 2x4 533 mm. Armor belt 177 mm. Full fictional WG design. T10: HMS Goliath: 4x3 234 mm guns. Torpedoes 2x4 533 mm. Armor belt 203 mm. Full fictional WG design. Name derived from 18/19th century British ships + sounds cool. Premium ship: T6: HMS London (county class).
