Have WG finally got the message?

We'll see what the coming of the 4 new DD's will bring in terms of how they can be obtained.

    Project R - Feedback / Questions

Nothing is written in stone, and it's all based on guestimating, but yesterday evening, we surpassed the 3.3M pearls. That means that next Monday (February 1st), we'll probably reach 6.6M, and the Monday (February 8th), we'll reach the 10M (if the progress stays around 3.3ish M pearls/week, which is entirely plausible because the decrease of progress in terms of non-repeatable missions will be offset by the influx of new/late players...). 57P per weekly batch, and 65 for the non-repeatable missions... That means that on the 7th, the "best players" (those who did all the weekly missions AND all the non-repeatable missions) will be at 236P. Yesterday we saw an increase of over a million in general progress, so it would be entirely possible to pass the goal of 10M somewhere Monday the 8th.
  3. Pennants would also be an option, but they are not as widespread as "regular flags" for admirals/commanders.

Project R is up on EU

We will reach that 10M goal... But reaching 260P/person will probably be a lot harder to reach (before the 10M cut-off).

I see a recipe for disaster with the current planning!

Can we please get rid of detonation

It happened in real life, so... (HMS Hood, Queen Mary, Indefagitable,...). It's not that it happens that frequently, I've endured it once, and made it happen twice.

    New premium ships coming

You might not know it, but you do now... The Smith-class was the Tier II DD back in Alpha it seems, when the Sampson was Tier III... The ship is designed, and its files are buried somewhere deep in the maps of WoWS.

    New premium ships coming

So basically: "yeah, we've got some spare cash laying around... what can you throw together for this... Doesn't matter what it is, or how it behaves, as long as it floats, it's okay!"
  9. Like in the R-project. Only base-XP counts? Would bypass all the hassle of flags, camo's, premium time,... Or something like "damage done". Kills would be counterproductive, with killstealing left, right & center.

    New premium ships coming

The Tier III bunker cruiser St.Louis is with 22kts not the fastest either. They will probably give the Katori some very accurate guns, its (historical) floatplane (which would be the sole Tier III to get it) and/or Smoke/Speedboost from a DD. or... The Japanese tree deserves an Albany of their own... EDIT: 7km range torpedo's, doing 24800 alpha damage... Looks dangerous.

Project R is up on EU

http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/42188-update-on-project-r-in-europe/page__st__40__pid__808239#entry808239 as the thing is progressing now, it seems that reaching 260 before the 10M deadline will be harsh, if not impossible. As the information is now, the event ends when 10M are reached, or the 24th of February, whichever comes first.

Update on Project R in Europe

From what I've heard, the event runs until February 24 or when 10M pearls are obtained, whichever comes first. In our case, that means the 10M goal will come first around, if the progress continues like it is now, between Monday 8th and Wednesday 10th of February. So while there is no stress for anyone up until the 7th, it will be from the 8th onwards, in which a window of around 1M pearls will be present to grind the remainder of your pearls (24 at least)... WG HAS to adjust when the 10M goal will be met before the 7th, as no-one will be able to obtain 260 pearls (okay, they don't HAVE to, but you can imagine the $h1tst0rm that would cause), but if it's reached somewhere in the 4th week, it's possible for those players who have the time/opportunity to grind in the first hours of the 8th, to reach 260 goals. However, the $h1tst0rm it would cause from all those players who were at 250+ pearls when the 10M was reached, just because they couldn't grind in time, would also be of biblical proportions...

Update on Project R in Europe

No, weekly missions reset every Sunday evening (or Monday morning), so it's entirely possible to do all your weekly missions on Sunday, and do all those missions again on Monday... When you've done that on Monday, you have to wait until Sunday again until the weekly missions are being reset, and a next batch of pearls can be earned by you. However, you can still complete the non-weekly missions (kill X ships in Tier Y ships, win X battles in Y class, earn 100k XP, earn 1600&1800XP in one battle). If those missions are fulfilled, you just have to wait until the next batch of weeklies is released. On a sidenote, At the current rate of general progress (3M, with the contest a week old), the EU community will reach the 10M goal in the early days of the 4th week. A player needs 260 pearls to have a guaranteed ship, and if he succeeds in doing ALL his weekly missions, and already fulfilled all the non-weekly missions, he will have 236 (3x57 weekly missions + 65 non-weekly) pearls by the evening of February 7th, with general progress being, if it happens to rise like now, somewhere between 8 & 9M pearls, which means that the window of obtaining the required 260 pearls (so the additional 24, if not more) will be very narrow, most likely only on Monday, and maybe Tuesday, before the deadline of 10M pearls will be reached. Maybe this is something WG must look at, as I can imagine it will be very frustrating for all those players who are not able to grind their way into the new weekly missions on Monday...

Have WG finally got the message?

Havoc was indeed a bit of a wrong choice, I should have used "malcontent", and yes, I fully understand that the bundles do "work" (as in: "they are getting sold, and they are making revenue, and they prevent the matchmaker from being clogged up with premium ships". What I meant is that it's my impression that the bundles are nowhere as popular with the "regular forumusing player" as with the "regular casual "ordinary" player" (who plays the game, but does not care/want/wishes to interact on this or other fora), but that those players who use forums, are frequently complaining about the bundles at its prices (you can see that on every newspost in the launcher, on facebook, on the forums, to a lesser degree Reddit, various blogs, youtubers,...), which has an impact on how WG is looked at by players/customers. But it's good to read this has "consequences for WoWS", and I sincerely hope a (delicate) equilibrium can be created which caters WG, the matchmaker as well as all those who oppose the bundle-policy or bundles in general.

Have WG finally got the message?

But... has Wargaming EU, subdepartment World of Warships, received the message about the bundles, and the havoc it wreaks on its core-community?
  17. A "suggestion-subforum" should have been here from the very first day.

    Project R - Feedback / Questions

There are three, which are implicitly aimed at the higher tiers. The "Do 1600/1800 Base XP in one battle", and the "earn 100.000 XP". Those numbers are high enough that they can only be obtained either in a godlike mid-tier, otherwise in the higher tiers.
  19. The flag is NOT banned in Germany, it is perfectly legal to purchase one, and to carry it around in public. However, the police can confiscate a flag if it is a treat to public order (during a manifestation for example), but that is not limited to that flag, the same applies to all flags who are linked to some sort of movement (so also the hammer & sickle, flags with Ché Guevara on it,...). The hammer and sickle however is banned in the Baltic States.
  20. A curious person on Reddit discovered this camo, for the Kamikaze (the files for the Fujin, Kamikaze & Kamikaze R are embedded in the gamefiles). Possible rewards ship for the new ranked-season? Or for the rumours of the successive "repair challenges" that I heard would be implemented at some stage in the game.
  21. Readers, In the fall of 2015, I had a conversation with Ectar about the EU contests, and the lack of prizes, frequency,... compared to other servers, and one such point that I touched was the "guaranteed reward" that some contests on other servers have. Ectar told me that (his opinion on this) by giving away prizes to players for just participating, it undermines the value of the prizes, as well as the value of the contest. The thing that springs to mind is the Christmas tree ornament challenge, in which the NA gave 5 Tirpitzes to the 5 best physical ornaments they received. But also: everybody who did sent something in, received a free Mikasa+slot+1W Premium, no matter how silly the item sent* (remember, the Mikasa is a Tier II ship that is being sold in a ridiculous bundle on the EU for 19.99€). After New Year, I browsed the Brazilian forum, and in a minor challenge, there was this: "All players who submit valid shares will receive a 15 Flags package, as follows: 10 India5 JulietYankee and Yankee Bissotwo." (this is a flag package that exceeds what can be earned in some of our weekly missions). The NA quite often has those "small gifts for everyone who participated in it". The guaranteed-reward is something that happens quite regularly on the NA-server (the now defunct US-forums mentions the contests: "Critical Strike", "Down in Flames" and "Search & Destroy", in which in total some 75 flags were given away just for participating. The reason I'm making this topic is that I recently asked MrConway the same thing (because the Mikasa-thing kept nagging me), and he said the same thing, that his personal opinion is that "prizes shouldn't be for free, you've got to work for your reward". Combine that with the Paper Ship Challenge of the EU-server: many players who've invested some decent time into making a ship, but didn't win anything, are being left out in the cold without a thing (despite having spent time and effort into making a competing ship (this clearly voids Ectars & Conways personal opinion about giving stuff away for free, since there was effort involved)). This also now slightly correlates with the Project-R mishap that is happening, in which a "guaranteed reward" on the RU and SEA-server, is being turned into "a (minute) chance to win the main prize". All I've heard were personal opinions of CM's, which may, or may not, reflect the stance the EU management has on those things. I think it's a good idea that some challenges, which involve some participation/skill/time&dedication offer a (small) guaranteed reward. Stuff like that doesn't cost WG a penny, but makes partaking in those challenges a bit more enticing. So, what do you think? And what is the official EU stance on this subject? * I also know from the CM's that the EU will never, ever hold a "sent something physical" contest, as with the last time, they got some 13.000 packages from all across the continent, which inundated their local post-office, and put a HUGE strain on the CM's, who had to sort everything out. This is totally understandable.

FINALLY, it worked... I kept a tally, 37 (first update) and 63 (second updates) pause-clicks, with 8 client restarts.

    Latest patch won't load.

Even the updates are a lottery it seems *sigh*
  25. For Europe, it will come in a bundle anyway, with a whole lot of unwanted extra's to "justify" the asking price of an AA(A) game... That's WGEU for you...
