Well it is more the principle of the matter. It may appear as a gimmick now, but soon, and I hope I am wrong, we will see BB's with radar. Then you've lost the point of having those same tools on weaker platforms. Like cro_pwr said: why bring a cruiser when you can take a battleship? *edit: Just a quick example. Why take a Hipper/Eugen out when you can have a Bismarck?
-
The point below: *edit: I for one welcome our future Soviet BB overlords with 12km radar. (just a speculation, as WG likes to test certain features for future lines (Gremy for gunboat DD's etc.) )

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"

Why even bother setting up torpedo ambushes near islands when "Keen Intuition" will proc you for the clueless sap you were trying to kill? Still too early to judge, but I'm hoping this abomination won't make it to live. -
USS Missouri + KMS DDs + KMS Graf Spee preliminary stats (5.15 ST)

I see that the RU 130mm is still king of penetration in the DD class. -
Check tier VIII. Atago is there. I'd suggest you respec the captain with the following: 1.) BFT 2.) EM 3.) Vigilance (no need for SI yet), and you have hydro on the ship. 4.) DE Furutaka is an amazing little ship with powerful guns and torpedoes, but it does pay a price in range. I played mine with the 6X1 gun setup. It looked and played more unique, but I have to admit that the C hull is the best. You have 66% of your firepower forward, and more torpedoes. AP will demolish any cruiser in that bracket, and it is really potent against broadside battleships. HE is excellent and hits like a truck, plus fires! From the Furutaka the IJN CA's are pretty much the same, bar the 155 Mogami. Packing good guns, torpedoes, fast speed, and camo. A few minor pointers: always use premium repair party. If you suspect that enemy DD's or torpedoes might be coming use your hydro and fighter plane. *edit: For the 2nd module upgrade take: Aiming Systems Modification 1, you really don't need MBM 2. The turrets turn fast enough with just EM skill. *edit 2: I just noticed I typed "fast speed" Me ingrish veri gud

Oh so that is why everyone and their mother, and their dog is shooting at my Tashkent disregarding all tactical and strategic movements -
Well I'll be damned... You can keep the camo even if you sell the ship? A good thing to know Ty Tyrendian
-
AFT obviously I'd take DE. I feel SE is less useful at lower ranks.
-
For the captain you take the following: 1.) BFT 2.) LS 3.) SI or Vigilance 4.) AFT 5.) DE or SE 6.) SE or DE You go with 3 tier IV skills to maximize your combat effectiveness or if you prefer you pick CE. I run with with AFT and DE on my Tash, and yes, I always get spotted first, but with the incredible speed, map and position knowledge you can evade pretty much anything. Like ghashpl said, you wiggle a lot and don't stop moving. Both AP and HE are powerful with nice flat arcs and good shell speed. Don't be afraid to use AP against broadside ships. You'd be surprised at the damage output. Torpedoes are secondary, and until you get to the Tash. They are pretty much for bum rush tactics, DD knife fights or island ambush. If you encounter a USN DD just kite them away and gun them down. Their shell arcs are ineffective at ranges over 9km. Pretty much the same deal with IJN DD's, but be careful since their guns pack a bigger punch (at least in my experience). Some videos: *edit: Thankfully I gave a full tech tree overview, but not the mentioned ships Now the Gnevy part: The turrets are slow to turn so you might want to opt for LS and EM at tier II, but you spec out of EM when you have enough points for a tier IV skill. You might find you out-turn your turrets in knife fights, so always maintain situational awareness for all enemy ships, especially DD and hydro (radar when up-tiered) ships. You can take MBM 2 if you desire even more turret speed.

Pretty much the same suggestion as Esa here said. You basically go: 1.) BFT 2.) LS 3.) SI or Vigilance 4.) AFT 5.) DE or SE 6.) SE or DE You go with 3 tier IV skills, but you pick AFT first from all of them. I picked DE second since the Tash has already a big HP pool.

Well HE is not all, and given the uniqueness of the Perth I would not recommend her new newbie players (like the OP suggests). Check out these videos if you want to learn more:

Considering the armored deck of the German BB's you'll get far better damage against IJN and USN BB's. Superstructure is a whole different thing. All lines take big HE damage hits to the superstructure. *edit: Not ranting against German BB's considering I play all nations and classes bar CV.
-
WTF? Really? I would really like to see what numbers WG is looking at, since the IJN DD line split is looking like a total disaster .
-
And let us not forget the not so accurate secondary battery armament with 11km range
-
Fair enough Missed the point a little on that one. Have to leave this one here:
-
What is the point of using a Yamato as an example? It has the biggest guns, the most favorable overmatch rule thanks to its guns, and a god-tier sigma value...
-
Higher tier German DD's have HAS (Hydro) as a separate consumable. And, yes, they are only DD's to have so, not counting the Lo Yang obviously.
-
Considering the fact that the German DD's will get HAS in a separate slot, I fully support the idea of giving IJN DD's torpedo boost as a spare consumable to have. Was talking about that yesterday.
-
You can check via the armor model in the port. It offers full insight into citadel location, armor thickness etc. Konig is paper and will get citadel hits from almost any angle, bar cruiser caliber guns. Yorck can use its long range fire to stay away from danger, and it armor is decent.
-
Shame honestly since the IJN DD's do look pretty sleek in the water. IJN DD rebalance looks like a complete mess, and with the introduction of these DD's there is less than 0 point in playing them, other than historical or personal value. Considering it's in a tech tree with only 2 ships Lo Yang was always a bit gimped in my opinion. Well have to see what WG is come up to next.
