#GrandNavalBattles Grand Naval Battles event thread (post your stuff here! instead of openening multiple threads)
AndyHill replied to havaduck's topic in General Discussion
If it helps any, I just received XP as follows: Hipper: 14318 Iowa: 16240 Ibuki: 12309 Izumo: 14999 Fubuki: 9862 Benson: 11409 For some reason the exp wasn't updated in-game either so you might want to check for issues there as well. -

If you need lots of base XP take a DD into a domination game and start capping like crazy. Probably the easiest way to get crazy XP, even if it is a bit situational. -
The escorting ships thing might be interesting, though.

I don't think co-op battles count for the missions. -

I don't think any of those ships are higher than tier 2 or 3. But I'm absolutely convinced that the big surprise at the end of the event is a premium Yamato for 50 diamonds. -

Oops apparently I actually completed the 2500XP mission, which is why I couldn't find it. No problems here. -

Odd, my 2500XP mission has disappeared completely (I don't think I completed it at any point). It was supposed to be changed, not gone completely right? -

The website can be a bit finicky at times, don't worry it'll probably work soon. Try reloading the page etc., relogging might possibly work as well. -
Well at least now it should be fixable. If WG just check what was different in the login screen menu before and after the latest patch they can probably figure out what they need to do to fix the options menu as well.

There's nothing wrong with playing just PvE if that's what you want to do, it's a legitimate question (I don't know about the issue itself, though, but there's no reason to give the OP hard time for wanting to play PvE).

Didn't we just have something a bit like this for the Yamato? Looks like a nice event for sure, though.

A friend of mine turns 40 this weekend and I need a suitable gift. What is the worst premium ship in the game? Are any of the smaller ones for example complete turds? The Aurora for example looks a bit too much like a premium St. Louis, which is precisely not what I'm looking for right now.

Alpha-flag gives 5% boost in ship- & captain experience

Maybe weekend testers could get a flag that activates every Friday and only works until Monday morning. -

I want some advantages. Or at least a flag that gives you +100% dispersion to main guns and says "you thought you were already over the disappointment of not being accepted for alpha?" -
What is the worst premium ship in the game?
AndyHill replied to AndyHill's topic in General Discussion
Mikasa does look quite promising indeed. WG pretty please we need a Mikasa sale for the weekend. None of the available ships seem quite bad enough so please we need a Mikasa sale! Bundle it with 500 ramming flags and put it on sale! -
The only thing I'm wondering about this topic is that ok it's quite clear why it's called bad players, but I don't think the op admitted to any kind of cheating so far?

Yeah he didn't suicide and it's 100% your fault. When a DD is making a torpedo run and possibly dodging fire or trying to stay hidden at the same time he's focusing torp evasion to ones coming from the enemy direction. He has to be able to trust his friendlies to not torp him. Even if he had dodged your torps it would probably mean he either ruined his own shot (which, since he was closer than you was better than yours) or he has to risk being hit by the enemy or detected. BTW if you're shooting 6km torps at an enemy anything in between had little to no time to react AND he was heavily engaged in a nose to nose fight with the enemy and thus completely preoccupied OR your torps didn't even have a chance to reach the enemy so congrats on a very nice friendly kill typical of the worst kind of 2nd line torpers you can meet in the game.

To be honest that argument doesn't really make any sense to me. It's precisely the good players who can make the most of all the information offered to them. Also good players would be able to act without map and HUD, but it doesn't mean they aren't useful.

Oh what to do with 200k credits, I wonder if that much money can even exist. Well it's a bonus etc. and it's hard to balance rewards when even the Hashidate guy with one game gets the same amount so I'm not complaining really. However, maybe it would be more reasonable to sometime have scaling rewars such as 100k per ship you've researched so that even the more advanced players got something other than pocket change while the new players still wouldn't drown in credits.

You need two sets of weeklies (well one and a half) to get to 260. Starting tomorrow that is.

Ideally I'd like to have an option to erase my stats for all eternity (like we now have for hiding them), but still be able to see everyone else's stats unless they've also chosen to hide or remove them. Options are usually good to have.

Personally I would like to see all stats completely eradicated. I mean gone forever - sure WG can do what they need internally but no player would ever get to see anyone's stats, including their own. However, as long as stats are available, XVM stat mod should definitely be allowed. It only saves trouble, since during loading times I check out key players' stats anyway. And I do that, because it's incredibly useful. I once won a game purely because of that: we were down on points, me in a DD against a full health BB (tomato) and a badly mauled cruiser (otherwise a better looking target, but a pretty good player) I might be able to gun down for points despite being hurt myself. I went after the BB who made a colossal blunder and gave me a free kill and a GG. Also personally it's much much better for my blood pressure to know beforehand what's coming. Stats are of course not an infallible 100% accurate every time indicator of match results, but if you're swimming in ketchup you WILL find that out the hard way during the game. Toxicity of course sucks, but a long time ago in WoT when stats mods didn't exist there were a lot of loudmouths (you know the kind that dies first and blames everyone in the team) with horrible stats. When XVM came these people started disappearing (although of course never completely) and getting replaced by the more elitist form of whiners. I don't have enough data on total amounts of whining but it is entirely possible that XVM didn't actually increase it much if at all. Another thing XVM is good for is telling me how many games people have played. If an experienced player is going down the middle in Two Brothers he's just one less ship for the team, but if it's a new guy and I know it I can try to communicate and tell him it's not usually a good idea and ask him to join me instead and go fight together. As a slightly related note doing the small ship pearl hunt missions I've noticed that people in general seem to try to communicate more in low-tier games. Maybe WG could display a relatively neutral stat such as number of games played or the number of krakens unleashed or something like that next to the player names? That way new people could tell when they're being given advice by someone who has at least played quite a bit and the experienced people would know when they're dealing with new players open to advice. I think the karma system might be an attempt at this, but it's problematic due to being influenced by other players and can probably be abused (why else would I have next to no karma, for example?).

Hey great stuff, why didn't I know about this earlier?
-
My weekly missions have now been reset properly (at least that's what is seems). I don't know about the missing kills from yesterday, I just got myself some new ones as it wasn't a big deal for me personally anyway.
-
Well it's not that bad, really. Earlier some things were a bit reset when they shouldn't have been and now some stuff didn't reset when it should have. On average everything is kind of fine now.
