Cruiser AP penetration values and characteristics
CountOfTuscany replied to _Teob_'s topic in Cruisers
Some time ago there was a discussion about this in Exustio's battleship comparison thread. I think the formula in that thread was something like: penetration in m = ( [weight of shell] * [velocity]^2 ) / ( [Krupp value]^2 * [diameter in mm) It was something along those lines. It would be nice if WG would disclose something about the penetration formula, but I doubt it will happen... Edit: Formula is incorrect. -

Those plane kills -
Well, iirc the ship models in WoWs are modelled twice as big as they were in real life, so I guess your engines are bigger too

Lol, the proposed border hugging solution: http://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/common/indev-world-of-warsheeps/ -
Too bad the old topic was torped, but the new one will be fine I guess.

Historical? Well, wait until you've got IJN kamikaze pilots plunging into your ship. -

wow, this ship saw some active service https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Caroline_(1914) -
I think what Tvri1976 is pointing at is a discount. In WoT it was common to have like 15% discount on prem ships during special events (Christmas, WG aniversary etc).
-
But, correct me if I'm wrong, radar only works for a really short amount of time, contrary to HAS that is active way longer. Can one really tear (multiple) DD('s) apart in like, 20-30 seconds? Also, I guess you run a higher risk in eating torps using radar than HAS, since HAS also spots torps from further away.

Boat looks interesting, but: - Don't have tier 8 sheep yet, so why get a prem one just to mess up everyone elses games? - €45... still a bit to much for my budget And I expect some more steam sales this weekend. I thing I'm going to pick up Silent Hunter 3. -

No clue pano. Too much potato to give a decent answer. In my potato memory Iowa is regarded as a good/decent tier 9 BB, and Montana as a not so good tier 10 BB. So I guess stopping at tier 9 isn't that bad? -

Looks like HMS Campbeltown will hit the servers this weekend. Iwonder if it's only bundled or also sold just as ship+port slot. -

Marine Nationale beats Royal Navy -
WoWs has always been a niche game compared to WoT and so it will be. You can't compare the two.
-
Guess this explains why men can play WoT or other stuff for hours?

New topic, same old discussion.

Are you sane, 15 tiers? Even the RN tree will be littered with blueprint boats since it's hard to have ships for all 10 tiers. How would this even work out for 15 tiers? And I think WG did a smart move to start off with the USN and IJN lines, since these navies saw extensive naval combat throughout WW2 in contrast to the hur dur merchant raiding and convoy protection that was particulary featured in the Atlantic theater. That being said, RN should've been the 3rd navy to be introduced.

OK, interesting. I think I'm interested in the DE BB line as well as the RN CA/CL line, so I wonder how both will work out. -

CountOfTuscany replied to bazdaris's topic in Off-Topic
Could indeed be that WG would add RN CA's first, but I guess they want to "semi-finish" the German tech tree before moving on to the RN tree. And I also guess they want something else than kruzers introduced first (since there are already quite some CA/CL lines in the game with the Russians soon). Is it likely that the first RN line would be CA/CL? Or is it more likely that DDs will be first? I honestly don't have a clue. -

So what will come after the Russian CA's? I somehow expect it to be DE BBs. Why? -> only 2 BB lines so far in the game + only 1 DE line so far in the game. What do you think? -
