Got the thing 'top' but not elited yet. at least you can sneak up to enemy ships (using your camorange). My main issue is that the spread of the shots is just awful. They're mostly going anywhere. The other problem it has is that the St Louis is way to powerful in comparison (which is sort of hilarious since BBs where designed to counter CAs.... right?). I hope it won't take to long till the Myogi (I fear it will...), but the general opinion seems to be that the Myogi is worse than the Kawachi...

Thing is that Tirpitz' torps launchers aren't submerged. That's why that ship is also able to use them.

Hey zed, only saw your topic now. I'll check out your channel!

Kind of agree with you, but there are certain ships where most people agree on that those are unbalanced and need some fixing. This was the case for old KV and tier 6 KV-1s in WoT for example (both needed some serious nerfs) . In WoWs St Loius might need some (minor) nerfs to keep it in line with the other tier 3s (or buff some weak tier 3s liek soem guys mentioned, instead of nerfing the st louis) and something like karlsruhe might need some buff (haven't met/played it yet, but general opinion + soem backed up statistics showed that it is udnerperforming in it's tier).

St louis is like a pocket battleship. It is armoured rather well and while it doesn't feature guns with that high a caliber, the amount of guns + RoF is quite devestating. In a certain sense I think it is hilarious that this cruiser messes up it's equally tiered BBs quite badly. Especially since BBs are to counter CA/CL according to WGs rock-paper-scissors thinking. Probably having something to do with St louis being rather OP for it's tier and same tiered BBs UP, oh well... St louis' armor is also effective enought that I have to do something annoying in my IJN cruisers: firing HE at an enemy cruiser (I prefer using AP vs cruisers). Now I still prefer Tenryu to St louis, just 'cause I think tenryu is more fun + has a bit more carying capabilities (due to mobility), but only way to not really get rekt by St louis, is by kiting and dodging. I'm not sure if torpedoes are really effective against the louis. ok, it's slow, but turns rather well, being able to evade incoming torps. Thing is that I don't know if the st louis would be a valid tier IV candidate. But for tier 3 it might need soem kind of nerf I guess...

Aviation Cruiser Gameplay - A Suggestion for Wargaming
CountOfTuscany replied to Asmodaeus's topic in General Discussion
+1 for the well written suggestion. I'm really interested if WG could work out something like that. -
The difference is that there is a ton of Tigers, Shermans, T-34s produced, so it doesn't make sense to give each an individual name. This is different with ships. Ships as the Hood and the Bismarck etc where produced in much lower numbers, up to the point where it makes sense to give them a name (especially if a sailor would live on those things for multiple months). So in that sense ships are more unique. Now, the Bismarck class battleships features 2 ships, the Bismarck (after which the class is named after) and the Tirpitz. Ok, this is a bit complicated with the Hood, since she's the only built ship of the Admiral Class. I can imagine WG will put the Admiral class in the tech tree with different hull options etc available and keep the Hood as a premium. But I can also imagine that they will put the Hood in the tech tree since it's a famous ship, and put a more rare design as some premium ship. Anyway, I'm really interested in what it is going to be either way.

+1. putting guns on shift+x or ctrl+x is not that convenient. Something like hold rightmouse button would be welcome.

lol, that magazine placement on the dido-class. Only get's blown up by torps or plunging fire I presume? Is this a more common feature of British Cruisers?

WTF is wrong with BBs "beginner-guide"
CountOfTuscany replied to Whatever08152's topic in Battleships
Ah I see, I forgot about the internal armouring being rectangular (example of new mexico in gamemodels was really good to clarify). I assume that the thin stern and aft ends (25mm in case of NewMex) are penned anyway, so it's no use angling these anyway I guess. I'm familiar with the basic angling theory (with increasing thickness etc), but these ships have such a complex armour lay out, that it is sometimes hard to understand I'm familiar with iChase's tutorial serie but this part finally made sense. Thanks! -

Well, your german accent is defininetly there, but I think you spoke clearly, which is the more important part. More on topic: haven't gone deep into BBs yet. Only got a stock kawachi so far, which... gets kited by st louis's for example. I'm really looking forward to get something like a kongo or a fuso, but I'll have to grind through the previous ones first. I also really like your tip about slowing down and speeding up (but not full stop) to mess up someones aim (esp torps). I'll see if I can incorporate it in my gameplay. One more question, about angling: Your nice paint drawings show some nice angles, but I was wondering what effect crossing the T has if you are sailing perpendicular to someone showing there broadside towards you. I guess the angles are quite steep when you are in such a position, but maybe the enemy is now able to target turrets and superstructure easily? And thus you'd better sail under a certain angle instead of sailign straight towards them? -

Really instructive video! +1 for video and accent! -
I wonder how this ship would turn out in WoWs. the 2 quad gun turrets look really awesome, and will make it strong in attacks I think (no need to show any broadside to have max fire power). However running away/disengaging will be harder with no main turrets put aft. I wonder though how problematic turret damage could be. With only 2 turrets you lose half your fire power when one gets destroyed. Iirc it was in the Dunquerque class that there was some kind of internal compartimenzation to seperate the 4 guns, so not all 4 guns would be put out by effects of a sell penetrating 1 one of the compartments. I guess somethign similar is also featured in the Richelieu class?

I do suffer from lag every now and then, but I haven't tried to relate this to the time of playing. I'll try to note some times and dates when I experience lag. OP could you change to name of the topic in something like "dutch players experiencing lag between 19.30 and 20.30 CET". That way it is more clear wat the topic is about, and perhaps more dutchies (or others) will comment on the topic. Btw, does anybody know where the servers are located? Iirc 1 of the WoT servers is in Amsterdam (the other one in München). What is this like for the WoWs servers?

German cruisers vs other nations cruisers
CountOfTuscany replied to Darth_Glorious's topic in General Discussion
maybe lower tier as i nrelative to his tier (hindenburg being tier X)? -
No problem, it's just some designation I'd say. I think the Alaska class cruiser (USN) was designated BC by some other navies. Does that change the performance? nope. Just some designation. By the way, I'm really impressed and really happy with the kind of effort you put in these comparisons, great job!

Wasn't the concept of BC not already archaic by the time the Kriegsmarine started building here fleet? I think the only BCs taking part (of any fleet) in WW2 were from the 20s or even from before that era. The fast BB more or less replaced the BC from the 30s on into WW2.

German cruisers vs other nations cruisers
CountOfTuscany replied to Darth_Glorious's topic in General Discussion
Poor VonPletz will be amazed, perplexed, disappointed the day he finds out that his beloved Yorck in game is not the battlecruiser and he has ground through the entire line for nothing. More on topic: I don't really know what to expect from those german CA's. I wonder how good their survivability will be since armor values don't look exciting on paper. Also the turret set up on a couple of them seems a bit impractical (1 stern, 2 aft). I like how one of the CAs got 210mm guns, which would be the highest calibre CA gun in the game at this time (iirc). -
Well what to say. well hermelin atleast got better AA rating than survivability... which is ofc very useful at tier 1. And as others stated, the game indeed needs more attention and attraction. Maybe this would happen if WG would start to implement/hype KM and RN ships?

Main Battery Modification II
CountOfTuscany replied to LetsRockAndRoll's topic in General Discussion
I know, I actually think that one of these offers slightly higher bonus/malus, 13% and 17% or smth. They indeed almost cancel each other out. Well... it's one way to get rid of your silver.. -

iirc there is also one which is the other way around, that decreases traverse speed, but reduces reload time. -
Captain's Academy - Learn how to Unicum [Latest: Captain Skill Builds]
CountOfTuscany replied to iChase's topic in Videos & Streams
The aiming vid is indeed very useful. I made sure I've got the alternative HUD on, so I can easily see range and flight time. I noticed though that at the lower tiers (which I'm currently playing) the flight time and the second marks on the aiming scale seems off. For example: I've had a couple of times where an enemy was like 5 seconds flight time away from me. I adjusted my aim in that way that my aim would be between 5-7 on the aiming scale, but even in the case where I adjusted it to 5 seconds on the aiming scale (so, basically no lead) I missed shots because they landed in front of the enemy ship, as if it was moving so slow that there would be a 'negative lead'. Now, it could be that this is related to low tiers only or me being silly, I don't know. Anyone had did too?- 175 replies

If you exchange 'ship' for 'tanks' as well as 'naval' to 'tank', you have a pretty good description of World of Tanks. In other words, if you've played WoT before, you should be well aware of different nationalities teaming up with each other fighting against other nationalities, as well as tanks from different time era's meeting each other on the battlefield. The same apllies to WoWs. And if WG would release World of Aliens or smth, it will likely be also something like Russians+Japanese VS USA+Germany or what ever.

Combating Toxicity, A.K.A. the Good kids get to play with the shiny toys
CountOfTuscany replied to Bl4ckh0g's topic in General Discussion
While I do see some points that might be abused (especially by divisionmates or smth) I think the idea in general is really nice. Maybe there should be a limited amount of compliments made per day and maybe combined with a system where you can't compliment people in your division/friends list.
