    Except that the Farragut and the Mahan are actualy pretty bad at their "playstyle". The lolstastic speed of the Mahan and the abominable gunarcs of us 5inch guns combined with an overal stagnation when it comes to firepower until the Gearing is reached make low callibre gunboats more than just a bit challenging.

    Low torpranges are not much a disadvantage once you cannot fire them from a conceiled position. Nobody shoots torps from 6km away since they won't hit so who cares if a torp has 3, 4 or 5 km range?
  3. Nur sind die US Kanonen aufgrund der extrem langen Flugzeit ihrer Projektile nicht sonderlich gut, zumindest nicht wenn man vorhat Nahkämpfe tunlichst zu vermeiden. Welche Rolle US dds überhaupt spielen sollen ist mir in Anbetracht der sowjetischen Zerstörer vollkommen schleierhaft. Aber hey, wenigstens die Flak ist...ok.

    Am i missing something about US Destroyers playstyle?

    The stupidly long flighttime of US destroyer shells means that their guns are deeply mediocre against anything more than 10km away. Getting close to use them is suicide and tbh, if you are spotted anyway then why not use a cruiser?
  5. For that you have to get unharmed within 2/3km of the enemy ship which works only against the truly stupid or inattentive. Destroyers currently suck at t5+. If they stay with the fleet then they are nothing but inferior cruisers. If they try to get into the fight then their extreme fragility, the high difficulty of staying stealthed at high tiers (aircraft everywhere, almost useless smoke, bad camo value on US destroyers) combined with the relative ease of evading long range torpedoes makes them unlikely to succeed. In their current form the risk of using them far outshines the low rewards. Hells they can't even be used as scouts cause spotting brings no exp/income whatsoever and their viewrange sucks afaik. *edit* Causing a draw and capping are nice and well but that's a low reward activity which would make for a quite boring niche.

    I cannot agree with you. US destroyers have a worse camo rating than japanese destroyers, they won't be able to suprise their intended prey (and btw, hunting japanese destroyers is a very narrow and rather crowded specialisation). Shooting will always light you up even within conceilment range unless im unaware of some mechanics. This means that the moment you shoot you will become a target for almost everyone at range. A cruiser might be able to take some damage, a destroyer won't. Japanese destroyers are usualy both faster and stealthier than their US counterparts so they can fit the scoutrole even better. Not that scouting gives any rewards whatsoever. I can agree that the Fakeolas and the Clemson are workable but the Farragut quickly becomes a chore. In fact i sold mine. *edit* Having worse camo than japanese destroyers sometimes means that your intented prey lights you up for everyone to shoot without you being able to effectively retaliate.

    Both Nicolas and Farragut have 5 guns in their stock configuration.

    Who on earth thought that the Farragut would make a decent t6 ship? It's like a Nicolas with worse camo, speed and hp. /o\ Honestly, the thing belongs to t5.
