The fact that WG has NO INTEREST in educating players on the game and teamwork.
I am NOT a great player, but i dont feel i suck either (i might actually be pretty awful), because I may play too aggresively. But I dont mind being on the frontline getting hammered, as long as i feel that the team uses the fact that im getting hammered to single-out, and take out enemies, which only happens on rare occations.
Ive begun trying to remind the teams im on, that this is a TEAM game at the start of every game, but since I get chatbanned (regularly) for telling crap captains to go play something else, instead of ruining the game, its hard to get that message through.
WG has made some good games if played properly, but their lack of response to players pleading them to do something to make this TEAM game more enjoyable, just shows that this is another cash-cow. Putting out crap "youll have to pay to get anywhere with this event"-content, and making the game pretty much unplayable if you dont put in money for premium, just to have some sort of profit from the games to advance your shiplines.
Im 99% sure that this thread, although super relevant and with lots of good input, wont have ANY response from WG, because why should they, theyre making tons of money, of of kids who wants a ship with an anime commander for instance.
Theres is NO bonus for good teamwork (Spotting in dds for your team etc., dont seem to do much in form of exp and silver)
There is NO (forced, and it should be exactly that) education of new players

The fact that you can report people to be bad players, but i suspect (and i imagine ive been reported for being just that, plenty of times) it results in NOTHING towards the reciepient
DDs, in particular, that has NO idea what the class of the ship theyre playing entails. Ie spotting, battling other DDs etc.
AND THE F****** LEMMING TRAINS AND CAMPERS!
