And which line to grind now *sigh*, opinions?
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Redcap375's topic in General Discussion
Ok, I admit that I didn't even look at the missions before I almost finished them. Yes, the "in one battle" is probably the hardest, but as long as I'm not supposed to start fires or hit with torps in a DD (which is just disrespectful to the Druid), I'm good in my current choice of preferred ships. -

That might be true if you only play one or even ten games. Not at a thousand, certainly not at six thousand. Even in a few hundred games - say, individual ship stats - the average is skewed by the small sample pool and can vary quite, but never as much as in the first ten games. https://gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/155104/intuitively-why-is-3-5-the-average-mean-roll-of-a-six-sided-die Edit: this is of course not considering the learning curve, I've said it quite often and I'll say it again: We need some kind of moving average filter to better rank our opponents. And why is PR not a good thing to measure by? Because if you burn down a zombie heal conq in your smolensk, you farm way more damage than a radar mino hunting DDs which does way more to secure the win. Yes, damage is important, but that stat doesn't recognize the right damage at the right time. Nor teamplay, like spotting or putting up a smoke for someone else. Edit2: Also being good in a ship the scrubs love (say, kurfurst) is bound to inflate your stats, because you're always compared to the other players in the same ship. -

Ok. You agree that WG is at fault because you just positively have to flame your "idiot" teammates? Is that right? All the while your three most played ships at tier 10 are below 45%? Or did I get that wrong, is it the other way around - you blame WG for being flamed because you just have to play ranked for that sweet steel even though you have a realistic understanding of your own abilities? Then I apologize, but then you shouldn't agree with @MadBadDave because he's the guy that calls bad players (or rather players that he perceives as worse than himself, which is a teapot/kettle issue): So, don't feel bad, just play bronze (the amount of rewards are certainly noticeable but not much less compared to gold) and shut the chat window so you don't have to read the bovine excrement there. Just make sure you don't accidentally advance to gold, because you'd certainly disrupt their fun when you singlehandedly throw games. -
Remove all B ships. Add a permanent "black" camo for them. And while we're at it, remove all that ARP and "ship smasha" crap and replace it with the base ship + camo. No I don't care about 1% fire chance here and 2mm armor there or whatever.

Yeah. Do you need more than DD and Cruiser? What for - 10k extra silver? -

Uh. At the moment I play Colbert and Druid, almost exclusively, apart from the free exp thing and the not applicable "quests" i'm done with all missions, just by playing. Ten citadels? Easy, works with either ship - just find a broadside Jinan or Mino at close range. Also, Devstrike, at least with Colbert. -
Is that so? That's very interesting, thank you - I know the vision mechanic is centered on the middle of the hull, so you can poke your bow out behind a rock and stay hidden while shooting. Highly recommended with ships that have full frontal or 2/3 frontal firepower and in dire need of some respite. (cheesy, but some ships can't live without that, say, Druid or Colbert - but that thing can shoot over the Mount Everest anyway, so there is usually a better solution)

It's an arcade game with pretty models much like the real ships.

Difference being the DD doesn't have a citadel and is thus far less susceptible to BBs deleting them in one go. On the other hand, the dps is halved compared to CL -

You feel ashamed by your stats? You shouldn't, just the seal clubbing thing is a bit apalling and yeah, being found out is is a bit awkward. -

Pay to .... rich? Pay the rich man some more? That sounds about right.... probably an insider in the WG office. -
Well, at least it would not produce hot air when I'm afk, so, yeah, makes sense - if you can't programm the port efficiently without torturing the graphics card, well, at least admit it and turn it off. Anyone who wants that can still turn it on again. I'm still guessing that they run a crypto miner in the background here.

Space bar worked like a charm IIRC. Yes, it needs a "skip" button. Just imagine what would happen if the do it with weeb stuff, I'd have to ritually cleanse my computer.

One should take note that the majority of his experience comes from clubbing seals which isn't really applicable to tier 10. So take his experiences with a grain of salt. -

This is all correct, but I can't see the reason to be toxic, especially not when one is at best average and in need of carrying as often as not. A 60% win rate on a ship doesn't mean you're carrying 60% of the games, because ~50% swing your way anyway. So you can influence 1 in 10 games enough that your team will win. On the other hand it will mean that in four out of ten games you're losing. The team oscillates around 50%, when you get dealt the worse team, it's more likely that you lose. Yes, we all get these teams. And "how hard can I carry" - well, that's what the game is about. -
And here I was, wishing they'd put the mod port "black hole" in the game and making it default....

Well, with 13,8 km range, the brawling distance is never really far away. Yes, you can take range mod, but the shells are floaty as they are, you won't hit much, so it's not worth it. Everyone has to brawl once in a while, the most that you can do in a Colbert is staying flat broadside and rely on overpens. And believe me, the only things I intentionally brawl are DDs and mispositioned cruisers which I can citadel on short range. Edit: Also british zombie heal. While the Colberts heal isn't half bad, you can't print a new ship instantly after almost being deleted in one go. That alone makes it double as tanky. -

Claiming that if WG would just always provide skilled teammates, then one wouldn't have to insult the "total idiots" is.... well, probably true, in a twisted way. Basically it comes down to the lack of fear of getting your teeth kicked in for talking trash on the internet. Some are just better at staying civilized than others. Some are worse. But what I can't abide are the terribad players who don't even have the moral grounds to complain, because they're in dire need of being carried most of the time, and the one game where the stars aligned and the enemy DD stumbled in their torp salvo... well, too bad if it's the others that threw the game, this time. By the way, since I consequently put very bad players on my ignore list (so I can see those little orange warning icons, even if they hide their stats), the amount of trash I read is much reduced. Just saying. -

You just have to appreciate this sentence. Just let it sink in. And the icing on the cake is that he apparently can't make it through bronze. @MadBadDave Maybe, just maybe, just like in that greatest gaming achievements thread where you continuously blame and flame your team - could you remotely come to the conclusion that you, yourself, are the problem and not the solution? -

Compared to a Colbert, a Mino is positively tanky, yes. You can quite abuse that belt armor in close combat where the colbert will almost be citadelled by HE secondaries. Also, a lot of shells that don't kick you in the teeth in the first place bounces on that belt whereas on a Colbert it instead curb stomps you. I'm guessing anyone laughing doesn't have Colbert? -

I see, that makes more sense, but still, I believe quadruple damage is better. There is no need to touch anything else. No one in his right mind would go for the border anymore when fighting, anything else is just fluff. Some ships deal with locked weapons better than others, say, colbert vs shima. But on the receiving end, they're all the same. They may get hit less but anything will hurt tremendously and thus you can't lock the enemy team into having to shoot you for minutes.
