... You seriously keep track of that? I collect 20+ containers and then I open them all at once, because I'm basically immune to cheap reward patterns. But I admit, I open supercontainers (together with all the rest that accumulated) at once. If there just was a way to get rid of that crap crane animation...

I have some in Huanghe. And no, that didn't take skill, that is just a little bit of extra damage that happens. Quite unlike a Schlieffens hailstorm of skill. Edit: If you talk about positioning, that's not limited to secondary ships. Everyone needs to do that, constantly.

Some ships work with range mod. Most don't, especially those with floaty ballistics. You can't even reliably firebomb a semi-stationary target due to dispersion. Range mod is rarely the answer to anything, because it's utterly useless the very second the enemy enters your standard maximum range and it also makes hitting stuff harder AND it keeps you lit from other directions earlier because of gun bloom.

Yesterday I had a Z-52 that got killed by a Daring at close range while sitting in a smoke and not shooting back. He never even pressed hydro. Just the other day there was a Nevsky behind me while I was contesting the cap with the Druid. I had to blind fire kill the Z while he was keeping me lit and literally the whole chat was screaming at the Nevsky to fall face first on the radar key. On the other hand, two in three low skill shimas put down smoke screens if you ask nicely in a Colbert. Not so much in a Druid. -
The most annyoing thing is the zero skill requirement for secondaries. Any potato can kill things he doesn't even have to look at and the damage on low mobility (or forced into immobility) targets, especially lightly armored, is much too high. I understand the appeal for secondary ships, some peole sure profit from not having to aim manually. You even have it in ranked where Schlieffen players fall face first on the W key and even with that spectacular display of skill still manage to at least seriously damage opponents or even kill some.

How do I improve by playing randoms as an intermediate player?
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Yosha_AtaIante's topic in General Discussion
Many good points, I just wanted to comment on these - this is only valid for low concealment DDs. Those with rather high concealment have little to gain, getting outspotted in open water can end painfully. Unless you already killed the enemy DD. The second issue is that you don't need to stand broadside in a smoke. For example Elbing, you have A XY turrets IIRC. If you don't use the A turret, you can stand in a way that makes most blind fire miss, because with just two turrets right next to each other, it's much harder to guess the actual attitude from the tracers. Yes, you still eat the ocassional grenade, but not nearly as many. Moving als helps, just don't get unfortunately caught trying to change direction when the torps come swimming. But also not standing broadside is helpful here. With full HP, it's still recommended to stand at least 45° to your enemies and move back and forth, especially in cruisers. Ships that you like/are strong, but you just cannot make work
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to tadaMonika's topic in General Discussion
Nice thread ressurection. Druid works for me, btw, like a charm. The ship I dearly love and have hilarious engagements with, spectacular moves leaving multiple enemies in my wake after a single attack is the vaunted- 45 replies

“We can see a lot of people dont like subs, what do you want us to do?” - Ideas what WG can do?
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Tanaka_15's topic in General Discussion
First: Average player win rate over the last 6 months must be 49% to 51%, so it's not the 45% players that they get balanced around, because this is what's happening. Second: Do tell where in the Rock/Paper/Shotgun balancing Subs are supposed to stand. And if they are supposed to crap on DDs, please make a valid argument why. Yes, spotting DDs to death is a result of the... chosen spotting mechanic. No time, I'll think of some more points until tonight. -
Ships that are a liability to your team in ranked.
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Corpsetaker's topic in General Discussion
You're disqualifying yourself. To recapitulate: The halland is a good DD hunter boat, because some unicum might at some point have sunk a Druid with it. I could agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong and everyone else would also be laughing at me, so I rather don't. -

Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Corpsetaker's topic in General Discussion
Right now we're talking about ships, not skill. A super unicum in a Halland doesn't make it suddenly a good ship to engage other DDs with, even though he might even win. Nice try to divert from the... well, what was it? A brain fart? Sometimes it's easier to admit a mistake, because it really doesn't add to the discussion. -
Super normal match making algorithm
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to DDG_121's topic in General Discussion
Yes, because it's overly tryhard. Asking your buddies to masturbate with a cheesegrater and throw themselves on the hand grenade "submarine" or "CV" for you.... can't see that happening. Ok, maybe it works even once, but then you're out of sync and they'd have to wait for you to finish the match... What works is surfing the queue when I play Incomparable in ranked - just leave when there is a CV waiting for a match. Doesn't work in randoms, trust me, I tried. -
It's still ridiculously OP. Unless they make it, say, remove one debuff will remain so.

Super normal match making algorithm
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to DDG_121's topic in General Discussion
Or MM could queue the second of the two divs only after the first got a match, which in turn would make all your points moot. No, the the sky won't fall on our heads and the MM Server won't try to divide by zero if one wanted to solve that... let's call it issue, as I don't even see it as a problem. -

I have another valuabe tip that might save your sanity. Use free exp to farm RB points with the multiplier. -

Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Corpsetaker's topic in General Discussion
Not the least, I would just never think of the halland as being on the top of the DD knife fighting food chain. I mean, it can't see the top from where it is. I've devstruck hallands with the Druid... I wonder how you come to that conclusion. -

Super normal match making algorithm
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to DDG_121's topic in General Discussion
If unicum tryhard divs would do that, then yes, that would be a problem if they ended up on the same side - see one of the last brawls, that was "fun and engaging" being steamrolled. But they don't do, because they are tryharding and ending up on opposites sides hurts their winrate. I just once had the unfortunate experience being on the same side of a successful superdummycum sync drop. Warcrime levels of idiocy ensued. Because they don't even think like it - and actually if they ended up opposed, they'd increase their average win rate, even! -
Super normal match making algorithm
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to DDG_121's topic in General Discussion
Not very effective, were they? What I think is way worse is 45% players banding together, because a team of crap players is very hard to compensate for. Also, most of the time you end up fighting each other - which is hilarous when you delete the people in the teamspeak in one salvo. -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
@Zimbiye got quite unlucky when he tried to make the Kurfursts doomed push not entirely useless while the rest of his teammates hid behind islands. Trouble was, the GK died fast to torps and HE spam and then he was alone... -

Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Charles__Vane__'s topic in General Discussion
If it's either get cancer or be cancer, I'd rather not play the pleb to be stomped on. Can't wait when I have to buy a supershit. Or a sub. -

Yolo was my first RB ship and I actually like it. Unfortunately I just suck with it, so I shelved it for quite a while and only break it out on special occasions. This one was hard fought and I didn't have many hp left when the smoke cleared.... 20220903_001347_PISD509-Paolo-Emilio_15_NE_north.wowsreplay -

The "Von Jutland" Brothers need a skill change?
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
Ok. But why? Because the bots learned to smoke up instead of W-ing in a straight line to their demise? If I had to play coop for whatever reason, I wouldn't change consumables either because I'm lazy, but that is about the only sane explanation. Also minotaur is very much fun. And concerning the German commanders, when I first saw them, I thought "oh, look, not only are german ships crap, they als get crap commanders" and nothing has changed. I'm thinking of a fun way to make a pun with *Kutuzov* and write "GESUNDHEIT" afterwards, but I can't think of one.
