It also happens that teams are antimetric, especially when there are DD divs. I remember one (really, really crap) game where I spawned together with only one other player. I went forward, thinking I can easily take the enemy DD and survive a possible radar. Unfortunately it was four enemy players on our side who all pushed hard, with my support prefering to snipe from the J line.

Nobody cares about how well you crapped on enemy players and it's also not about the lack of service you provided or stealing kills - you get reported for bringing the fun police in the first place. A higher level karma, so to say.

When I take a pot shot of opportunity at someone, I sure do. I don't aim for half a second before I click. -

Who would have thought that everyone hates that ?! -
With a Druid: a) When the support abandons the flank. It's just suicide. Yes, I might kill their DD and if I'm lucky, I'll even survive, but staying alive is usually much more important in winning the game. b) When the support on my side consists of certified potatos. BBs that start the game by reversing, Cruisers that keept the area between me and them in their radar range, you get the gist. Contesting a cap with no support seldom works in my favour when the enemy brings radar and I can't go dark after killing the DD. Spotting for the potatos is an excercise in uselessness, because they don't deal enough damage to make it worthwhile. I rather go through the mid and attack their flank. Yeah, that's sacrificing one or two potatos, my heart bleeds. c) Some maps don't lend themselves to contesting a cap with a Druid - I get outspotted by about a km by every torp DD. These are mainly caps without many islands, especially when the enemy brings smoke/torp DDs and lots of radar. Here, have a replay including an "abandoned flank". If so inclined, do check the win rates of the players involved, those on my flank weren't actually the worst, it was more the open water cap that scared me away. And IIRC we had no radar support and the enemy lots of Shimas and Gearings. 20220911_202844_PBSD510-Druid_52_Britain.wowsreplay No, that wasn't one of my most brillant plays, I seriously it up, getting caught pants down trying to murder that Desmo. I should have played way more defensive in the beginning. But the dodging is nice. Later on you see me shooting the Stalin - that is the way the ship works. With a Slava or anything like it: I go for mid - that means my flank, but oriented to forward mid. This is so I can blap anyone showing broadside because they angle against the flanking players. Going with the flank just make all the enemy show you their nose and you can't do much then without overmatch. This is not really abandoning your flank but bringing a ship that can't really support the flank it spawned on. Colbert: You're made of citadels and wet toilet paper armor. One recent game people expected me to cap because I'm the next best thing to a DD. I rather sneaked mid and capped there, because no one was remotely interested. Basically you can't always hammer a square peg in a round hole. Yes, trusting the players competence when he runs is hard. If you don't seriously know what you are doing, you probably shouldn't.

WG and Lesta split coming to a close

Sorry, I don't understand - care to elaborate? -
TBH, if there is a Zao closer than 10km, I'm mighty scared in a DD. Fortunately most sail the J line. Yeah, you could support your own DD capping, but that would mean personal risks. You even have the concealment to make it work. And torps, to boot.

“We can see a lot of people dont like subs, what do you want us to do?” - Ideas what WG can do?
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Tanaka_15's topic in General Discussion
Select sub. Click battle. Fall face first on the W key. Randomly keep pinging/torping anything in range. Do not let go of W key, press it HARDER. Get by ASW. Seriously, the only redeeming factor of the subs are the trash players playing them. May the gods have mercy when there is a decent submarine player. -

Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Why_Cant_I_Be_You's topic in General Discussion
TBH, that's an issue. I can't tell you just how often the certified faceroller on the enemy team killed me, not the least because I dismissed him as a threat. And yeah, that's soul crushing. Unless I play Colbert, where the water splashes from missing shells are enough to citadel you for half your HP - oddly there I don't care. -

But you are aware that potato alert not only shows the total win rate but also the ship win rate, along with the amount of games and the average damage? -
Ok, it took them ages to notice. It's like they don't even talk to our esteemed community managers. But what's so bad about this as a first step?

Tiger '59 anyone? I'm all for nuclear derp charges. Serves them right.

I only get crap teams
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Why_Cant_I_Be_You's topic in General Discussion
At the ships I'm currently playing (Colbert (~200 games) and Druid (~800 games)) I'm at a solid 60+% win rate solo. In that regard I'm quite dissimilar to @Sir_Sinksalot I do not display stats because my failures in, say, the Shimakaze when I started playing the game years ago still influence the total win rate. And since seal clubbers have the same win rate and delusions of grandeur and post here with the air of competence, I rather hide it. But mainly I like to be underestimated (no clan, most irrelevant DD insignia which is easy to recognize, hidden stats) and then murder overenthusiastic enemies who run potato alert. It also crushes their soul, which is hilarious to me. But this thread wasn't about my win rate which is entirely irrelevant in this regard, it was about that bovine excrement assumptions that you can't influence the game against the team and if you just were reasonably high on the scoreboard you did everything you could, you ain't at fault for losing. But that's only the usual excuse of bad and mediocre players everywhere - nothing else. -

Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Why_Cant_I_Be_You's topic in General Discussion
Lololol, it's not, lol. Talking about a dull and contradictory post. Even you manage to notice 60% players. They have that win rate, because you can influence the result. Alone the fact that they exist is proof. Srsly, it can't be that hard. Also, a 60% win rate doesn't mean you carry 60% of the games because 5 in 10 go your way anyway, if you're plain average. You manage to influence 1 in 10 games so it's a win for your team instead of a loss. Ok, more likely you do your thing every match, in 5 of 10 games it's not needed, in 4 of 10 it's futile and in 1 of 10 it just worked out right and wouldn't have, if you weren't there to save the day. There is an entire thread about it: Also, overall win rate ain't everything - just look at the sealclubbers or tryhard divson players, proudly displaying their stats - but at tier 10 solo/100 games minimum there is suddenly nothing but mediocrity. -

I only get crap teams
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Why_Cant_I_Be_You's topic in General Discussion
Nope. If that were the case, you wouldn't have players with a win rate of 60% or more. You win when doing the right things and some of the right things are rewarded by score. Dicking around the J line with your HE shooting BB can yield good damage and decent results, you're just not influential to the outcome of the match. Losing that match is certainly (partly) your fault. -

Why were ASW planes nerfed
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Itwastuesday's topic in General Discussion
TBH they do answer and clarify some things and they're nice to have around for that - but you notice they're quite low in the WG food chain when they can't even provide an answer for such a simple question on how subs are supposed to be balanced against the other classes. -

Have you tried new 12 vs. 12 BB Tier VIII Brawl?
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Actually enjoyable. I use it to finally grind Kansas which I never came around to. Due to the sheer amount of potatos, the results are quite random, because I can't carry as hard as some people can throw. But the fun thing is, you almost always find someone who shows broadside.
