how to play smolensk?

Any Smolensk lover should enjoy this video! For great balans, comrades! -
Double post sorry.

I guess it's the clan rank database not being updated and thus coming up blank, therefore reverting to the default error state. On the other hand, it could also be a pre selection for a special server. Apply your own common sense.

You have to look harder, at least. Basically if the average damage is very low, that's quite an indicator. If you use potato alert, rather look for the win rate of the ship if at all possible and a meaningful amount of samples. If you are just looking if smeone is a "good player or not", just go to wows-numbers and filter for solo, tier 10, 100+ matches in randoms, that's my way to do it at least. Unfortunately we don't know how old that data is. What we really need would be a moving average filter. Yes, stats padding in tryhard divs and by seal clubbing is a thing, but an unicum with 15k average damage? Rather obvious. More insidious are the seal clubbers who only archieve 53% win rates and have a low amount of games in that specific ship. You'd usually assume that it's an okish player, either with bad luck or toothing issues with his new aquisition - but then he goes full retard, with you extended to support him. And suddenly you're overextended.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

276k dmg with only 6 enemies in the team. Wouldn't have worked without the spotting provided. I admit, the Conq alone was ~160k. Whenever I switch to AP, I wish I was playing Druid so hard.... but the base exp are quite nice. 20220924_202354_PFSC510-Colbert_19_OC_prey.wowsreplay -
Druid, Forest Sherman or Ragnar?
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Mad_Dog_Dante's topic in General Discussion
Edit, sorry, wrong thread. -
Short answer: Yes. Longish answer: You could have fought like the devil these matches and were just dragged down by your team. Even for very good players, a losing spree like that can happen. For you, the chance of this happening is just a lot higher. With a 30% win rate on this bucket it looks more or less as expected! Come again if you score 18 defeats in a row, that would be exceptional. You are complaining that your team didn't manage to carry you. Well, sometimes your team is actively trying to sabotage your win, that happens, too. But at a guess, you're not pulling your weight. Mino is made of citadel where someone stuck wet toilet paper as armor on. The only thing going for its survivability is the zombie heal and the smoke, if you use it. Some basic tips: Do not stay still in smoke when shooting. The smoke is concealment, not cover. Do use the hydro in smoke, about 20 secs in. Because every idiot and his brother just positively loves to dump migraine sticks into a smoke. Sometimes the best use for a smoke is to disengage and leave it there to eat torps while you relocate. Your job is to kill DDs, the smoke is so you don't perish right away when you're on the front. That makes the radar mino so powerful, as the reach is longer than your concealment, you can just hit it the very second you're spotted and stab them. Unfortunately everyone else deceides in that instant, that you're a tasty snack, too, so positioning is key. Learn to aim, the ballistics of the mino artillery is not comfortable. When you torp, set one salvo almost in front of the indicator, wait a second, then throw the rest of the torps in single file on target. He will see the spread, slow down and then be inable to escape the others. That's one way to do it. If they push your way, launch one left, one right, wait, the rest down the middle. Anything else? Stay with your DDs, support them first, farm damage second... Also, some ships simply don't click, some simply don't work for everyone. For example fast ships for inexperienced players are usually not a good idea, because they just get themselves into trouble earlier. Slow ships aren't good, either, because they can't escape a mispositioning. The Minotaur is a ship not for the faint of heart, nothing I would touch at your skill level, because results. I propose you play a solid BB, something that doesn't bring you into trouble, like the germans, because pushing too hard to bring these secondaries to bear is also one of the major causes for frustration. Play... Monty or Yamato, learn how the match unfolds, stick reasonably close to your cruisers and make sure you help shoot priority targets, like radar cruisers or DDs. Yes, even at "I won't hit anyway" 16km, because everything counts, even one overpen can make the difference. If you do that, you're already a better BB player than most.

Incomparable & Duncan: How to?
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to LiveWire___'s topic in General Discussion
Fighters used to prevent eating all the CV drops, making him select another target, at least for a while. But since balans CVs are in the game, they're worthless. game design, if you ask me, I'd be seriously interested in the reasoning that could make this bovine excrement plausible. But alas, a spotter plane is always useful, therefore I've removed all fighter planes from my ships where possible. -
Incomparable & Duncan: How to?
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to LiveWire___'s topic in General Discussion
When that is required, you can use the spotter plane. A point can be made for spotter plane mod, I don't have it, though. Yes, I tried range mod, too, but reload is much better in my opinion. That is true on most ships, because it becomes entirely worthless the second the enemy is closer than the former maximum range. And the closer you are, the less time to react the enemy has. The gameplay is more akin to a torp DD, with the advantage of high velocity aerial 508mm torps. Yes, the BB sniping meta is strong, but the amout of damage dealt at these ranges is rather low. If you shoehorn the ship into that it might even work, but I believe you're staying behind your capabilities. On the other hand, if there is a CV, you can't do much else, you don't want to be permaspotted on the flank or crapped upon without anything you can do against it. -

Incomparable & Duncan: How to?
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to LiveWire___'s topic in General Discussion
Don't have Duncan, but Incomparable. First - Pray to the gods of RNG to not get a match with CV. Second - Pray that you spawn on a flank. Proceed to race into the flank with speed boost (do not touch the rudder for max speed) and hope your DD doesn't stay back. Find a broadside cruiser, get as close as your minimum concealment, blap him, run away laughing and go dark again. If there is a CV, you can play such enjoyable mini games as "try to eat ALL the torps of a FDR salvo". If you spawn in the middle, you need much more time. I do not recommend the range mod, the guns are best at 12km - It's a ship where you use your concealment and your guns deceisively. Where others shoot all the time at the nose of an enemy, you need to have the ability to wait untill someone shows broadside. It's not a DPM machine. It's a medium range assassin where you blap people for huge chunks. It is quite tanky if you angle, there is a secret icebreaker. Fires shouldn't scare you because of your zombie heal, you need to have the balls to let it burn. It's the only BB where I don't run fire protection and it makes me nervous. Forget the secondary build, the one where you focus on range and the better main battery reload - the secondaries are very crap. -

If you win two games now, it's just a bit below average for you in Mino. What's the issue? There are good youtube videos on how to play, I can only recommend Yuro, although he only has radar Mino vids. And radar Mino might be a bit too hard on you at that stage.

"There are no medals for critiquing play, only for winning"
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Yosha_AtaIante's topic in General Discussion
Some people need criticizing. Just yesterday in ranked, we were three vs a full health Yueyang. We had a slight point advantage and one cap with four minutes to go. Shima and Schlieffen with low hp. I went to the second cap to the north. Two caps was all we needed. I told them: Stick together. Get back, he has to push, do not straightline into that cap, expect torps, dodge please, do not go alone. The Schlieffen straightlined into the cap and died. A minute later the Shima entered a one sided gun fight and died. It's basic awareness that players are lacking, just like win harder guys. They do not even realize that they can win by doing nothing or just running away. Basically criticism is nothing bad per se. It's a) mostly the tone b) the assumption of having everything done right c) the inability to accept that one had made a mistake that leads to the known results. -
Submarines (Poll): Improvements and I-401 (and ARP I-401) Introduction

You it up again. Question number 2. As one can't fail that hard, I assume it's intentional. But Is it so hard to accept that about no one else likes what you consider to be brillant? -

ARP Content Request: Petition Of Request (with Poll)
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to AGT_ZURU's topic in General Discussion
You say that as if it's a fact. But maybe sanity prevails? Besides, the Fritz X is also historical, we don't see it in the game, either. And that was actually designed to kill ships. Contrary to that I-401 which could launch three planes which just took half an hour and might have even be useful for their intended purpose of attacking the locks of the panama canal. Shoehorning all that crap into the game, making it "enjoyable" gave us super cavitating submarines which in reality only sunk combat ships by happenstance. Not that the I-401 sunk anything but money.- 47 replies

They will use the money to fix the lag when they accelerate to 360km/h by buying a better Porsche. Have you by now fixed your dishonest poll so you can present how many players don't want that bovine excrement in the game? Or are you that kind of person who would present the skewed results to further your own agenda?- 47 replies

This hurts me deeply. I beg you to reconsider. But alas, I've come to understand that self reflection is not your forte and you're also not fond of being pointed in that direction, so it's probably for the best that you don't have to read what I am writing. That way you can still at least feel superior, if you don't mind the people laughing.

One would think if you write on slot machines that they at least pay out 50% of the invested money, even the most intellectually challenged would realize that if they put in 1000€ they receive, on average, 500€. But they don't. This is why gambling is considered to be an insidous addiction and in the case of abusing it to generate income a dark pattern which WGs psychological warfare department wholeheartedly embraces. It's scummy in my opinion, not a scam, as I do not think they cheat, because there simply is no need. All the digital items can be provided at literally zero additional cost to them and setting the chance to meet your expected gain is just a bit of math. This is not aimed at adults with an education and therefore not at me, but I feel that the Dutch and Belgians are on solid ground protecting the weaker parts of their society.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Karkong_the_Impaler replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Once in a while I feel like EVERYONE has that captain. "Please spot" - inane laughing, DD commences to blind team with smoke and sits in it. "Please focus this target" - inane laughing, BB continues to snipe the enemy BB at 22km instead of shooting the DD "That's stupid to sail in there alone" - inane laughing, fall face first on W key, sink, commence to whine in chat about a perceived lack of support. Comedy ensues. -
Yeah, I also fear getting first nonsense and then such trash - but it's ok to get a super container every now and then...i guess?
