To be honest, tier 7 was a shitshow because of certain ships that bring a gun to a knife fight, tier 8 at least brings all the basic counters more or less equally - not counting that russian abomination BB with radar and other balans brainfarts. But the brainfarts are much worse on T7. But tier 6 and below? Come on.... -

Broadside targets to the superstructure isn't so bad - managing to hit at these distances is more of a skill issue. And HE only gets better because whether you penetrate or not, you can still start a fire. -

Only two losses, both kept the star - the last one with 1800 base exp. The grey one had a crash to desktop - which is survivable when you go dark easily. Not even @Animalul2012 dared to attack me -

I don't use concealment anywhere I can get away with it - but submersible scum put even more emphasis on that skill, because getting spotted early - even, or rather especially as a gunboat DD, as your concealment is basically worse anyway - gets you on the rear foot. -

I do. All the time. And having one class overly represented always is a the cost of their primary target. Imagine 6 Asashios in a game with one or two bbs... the tears would drown the forums. Just look what WG did when their pet class was threatened by an actual class capable of hunting them? Laser guided nuclear tipped airstrikes! -

Tiger '59 just doesn't give me the option to deal much damage, so I can skill into things I wouldn't with baltimore. Also def AA is not exchangeable for the more useful hydro, so you're not tempted here, either. The smoke/radar combination is also convenient and basically the smoke is still the best counter to CVs, because of the casual spotting to death. YMMV -

The issue is mostly with DDs, as they are the only ones that can get this unlucky - but that is by poor design. One could make BBs gain exp harder or leave them below the 300 exp mark if they don't do something useful - and yes, getting shot at is useful, but surviving this for a little while doesn't take any rewardable player skill when a DD or a cruiser shoots them from a distance. In turn, the DD also doesn't get rewarded for, say, not eating the whole salvo of torps and only eating one. WG should desingn damage taken rewards around salvos that can potentially kill you. So, yes, I agree very much. I'd even set the bar at 800 exp for a win and distribute the confiscated stars to the carrying teammates. Anyone who disagrees is a tuberous plant skill player obviously. -

Radar trap and murder the DD, that's basically the first step to victory. Since you only have three BBs, they are still at the spawn at the first engagement and can't crossfire you, assuming a well balanced setup of DD, 2CA, 3BB ( @Seraphice you should increase the reload and/or dispersion by 25% for BBs in ranked, then we wouldn't have so many - they're a scourge. Or mabye simply deactivate the overmatch mechanic) Then take up an agressive position in the middle of the map and farm broadsides for two to three thousand a salvo with the best in game accuracy from smoke - or refrain from shooting with your best in class concealment when it's on cooldown so you don't unnecessarily expose yourself. Just don't get blind fired with AP in smoke. You can also do DD duties and spot once the enemy DD has been deleted and in combination with your zombie heal, you're reasonably tanky for a CL if you know how to dodge. Similar to radar mino. I really consider rudder mod, but the radar trap is just so convenient... Since improving your dpm with skills is a multiplier for a very small number, it isn't really helpful because it stays anemic, so I run an AA build. Every match with a CV I had yesterday, I managed AA expert. Admittedly, they weren't good players, but then, that's what we're talking about here. If you print high exp losses, it's not usually you who does stupid things, it's that you can't manage to influence the game enough to compensate for your team while still doing the right thing. In a smaller game with less ships, more predictable positioning, I believe this ship excels. Alone the fact that the CV has a smaller selection of targets to crap on makes him come near you, even if he loses squadron after squadron. -
Big caveat: Unless uptiered. Because then T8 is the shitshow it always was - because in addition to the worst ship, you get shat upon by tier 10. But for ranked it's fine. AA build Tiger '59 works beautifully.

Some people think ranked is for them because they a) are currently at the tier played or b) like to club seals at the tier played without actually posessing any kind of competence. Just select a ship that can influence the outcome and you can make the skill gap work in your favour.... -

But for everyone that's not a Montana or Shikishima there is no more way around concealment as it impacts both, aerial and submersible scum spotting distance - In addition to the normal spotting distance. So concealment is basically the most important thing and you can't really do well without it. So, say, I play Colbert with a lighthouse skill, so I don't get the sweet AA fires the instant you're spotted bonus to at least remove the circling fighters after a minute or so - because it is AA distance is designed around the use of the commander skill. As a first step, concealment bonus of the skill/mod should be halved and and one half baked in, so the skill isn't as effective and important as before. In a second step, rework the CV spotting mechanics. -

Y'all take too much time explaining the obvious to @Farheim. The simple answer: Yeah, and that is exactly what is . No one is happy how the class works. Anyone who does als wouldn't mind playing Monopoly with loaded dice. The only difference is that they wouldn't have the gall to try and explain how that is completely fair. -
