Uh... the obvious choice: Forrest Dump! It's the minigun version of the Groningen with tolerable ballistics. And SAP, just so you can do more damage while DCP is running or plain out melt broadside DDs. And idiotic torps, because why the heck not. You can also comfortably juke BBs shooting you at 14km, no need for smoke. And once you placed your fat [edited]in a cap, it's usually yours, unless you get outplayed. Depth charges are also of the "when in doubt, grenade it out" variety, not that they're useful or anything, but since you have hydro, you can murder stupid submersible scum - and let's be honest, most of them are at 45% which is the only reason they haven't taken over yet. -

The issue is, you have to like the gameplay. If you like playing Yamato, the Shiki is probably not going to be a port queen. Incomparable is hard to recommend, because it... doesn't compare. You're a light cruiser somehow if caught broadside. But you're also a DD with a 10km spotting range and flying 510mm torps. If you can manage to sneak your way into some cruisers broadside, you can kill or at least cripple him easily. Yet you're quite tanky from the front with a hidden 120mm bulkhead, if you don't 0° nose in and fire spammers cry when you zombie heal back up again from a few k hp. The skill floor is certainly not low, the skill ceiling is.. I don't know, I can't reach it, I can't make it work with CVs. So, some ships just... click. I got myself what is considered by many a poor choice for research points, the Druid while the Vampire II is generally considered to be the better choice. That thing just... works for me, I guess, and it also doesn't compare to anything. Unfortunately there is no "free to rent week", where you can take ships for a test drive before you buy, you need to try the nearest comparison and go from there. Yamato - Shiki is easy. But Ragnar? Druid? Incomparable? At some point you just need to go ahead and in the worst case, waste your precious steel. Because, if you have the Yamato with the legendary module, why buy the same gameplay again? (I did it for the gun sound... and I seriously like the ship better) Also I recommend videos, especially yuro has a few hilarious ones, but you may also want to watch a full game to get an idea about how it handles, not just an endless stream of chad moves and devstrikes. -
Ok, seriously... you seem to have an idea what you are talking about, can you please explain the rock-paper-scissors for me? I understand DDs aren't the best submarine killers, because that would lead to too much of an additional burden on DD players, even if it is counter intuitive considering the historic roles. This, unfortunately, leads to a certain... disrespect of subs against DDs, if you didn't hide behind a rock, you know what the forum thinks about this So, my question is, are submarines meant to be a counter to DDs? What is their niche in the ecosystem? And, basically, who is supposed to counter the submersible scum? Heavy Cruisers with ASW Aircraft? Certainly not someone with no standoff capabilities - the sub just needs to keep you spotted when you charge him. And if you shoot him, the sub can even dive and laugh his [edited]off while his team grills you. The only redeeming factor at the moment is the incompetence of the average 45% wr submarine players.

I mean, there is so much that could be done with the ocean map. Maybe "atlantic ocean" with high waves and storms, "pacific ocean" with a different colour scheme and maybe a coastline as a background. And of course the black sea, with storm and high waves, but only for Moskva players... and Kutsnetsov doesn't work! -

Now the team spawning in the south has this 1.8% win rate increase! Come on, WG, you can't be serious, this is so dumb! You should have rotated it by 90°. Or maybe even 270°. -
Incomparable is incomparably fun, unless there is sky cancer, then it's like masturbating with a cheesegrater. In ranked I actively left the queue when there was more than one CV in it, that worked reasonably well, because frankly, it's unplayable due to the wet toilet paper armor, the extreme length (I think you can even manage to eat all FDR torps in one go) and the BB handling. Yeah, agile BB, but nonetheless, the best chance you have is to use your dragster acceleration to avoid full drops. Since in ranked every CV knows about how vulnerable you are in your glass cannon, you get instantly focussed to death, so much that your best chance is to stay in the AA cover of your friendly CV. Yeah, you're that useless. But in games without CV? you zoom around with insane speed, right behind some spotting DD and blap unsuspecting BBs and cruisers broadside from just above detection range for hilarious results. Also, AP overpens at over 2k a pop on DDs are enjoyable. Or use the plane, keep your distance and juke, that's also valid, but not near as much fun. It's harder in random battles, as there are more DDs in unexpected places and more chances you can't angle against everyone (which you positively should) At the moment I don't play it much because it eats flags like I do aspirin in front of a TV and for some reason I don't earn enough silver to spend hundreds of millions on flags like I used to. Shiki was my mainstay for quite a while, what makes it better (much better) than yamato is, in my opinion, the faster reload. Where a cruiser could do a kevin turn and get away with it, you have a great chance to find his citadel. In a brawl, the vaunted cheeks are a non issue when you point your nose straight at the enemy - unless he manages to joust you, but that you should avoid anyway, so rather start backpaddling early enough. Also, the gun sound. It's a very solid ship. Mecklenburg I don't have. As much as I want them to work, german BBs don't work for me, apart from maybe Tirpitz. I assume it's more of a cruiser than anything where the skill is to be close enough to do damage but not too close to receive much of it. Could interest me, but I wonder when the first tier 11 steel ships will come - so I'll probably wait.

They increase dispersion on the live server, but they decrease it again on the test server as far as I understand. But I get confused with all this submarine and supershit crap on what is the live server and what is the test server. -

Playing only division to pad the stats is a different skillset to what is required in ranked - where teamwork only works by chance and you need to be able to carry alone and/or react to your potato teammates irrational behaviour or premature death. I already said it, even if the potatos disagree, the skill you need is the ability to repeatedly carry. Edit: Basically, I agree... there needs to be a cutoff below a certain win rate, maybe 48% solo at tier 10 on average in ships with a minimum of 100 games, anything below is just too random. Or make an extra league for them, the tin league, also with nice rewards, so they're not too annoyed that they don't qualify

The true skill of ranked and the basic requirement to reach rank 1 is to have the ability to carry all these potatos continuously, again and again, because they won't go away. Also, posessing a modicum of skill can positively influence your experience, so I would work on that.

Win rate is limited by availability. Steel ships are usually acquired by players with, well, access to steel. Most trash players don't have that, therefore the average win rates of steel ships tend to improve. Supershits on the other hand are available to every potato with enough credits - and the good players looking for a roflstomp and the trash players with the intention to compensate their lack of skill even out quite well. On the other hand, the unicums can pull incredible average damage scores and even the facerollers can perform noticably better - thus higher average damage. -

They don't enjoy CV games, trust me on that. On the other hand, nobody does, not even the enemy CV. Because they'd rather delete opponents one by one instead of having to do chores such as putting down fighter planes, actually moving the CV when being spotted by enemy planes etc. -
If you need to wait for a perfect team to carry you six times in a row, maybe you don't belong in the silver league?
