  1. It's quite natural actually. I mean, if you were gangbanged by some dudes in adidas trainers, I bet you would have at least a mild case of anxiety when seeing even the adidas commercial, let alone some buffed dude in adidas pants People connect things emotionally. Rising sun flag existed quite a bit before the navy used it. And it's really in some way a symbol of japan as an entity. So, I understand some who hate japanese or have some kind of cultural history baggage or emotional immaturity or inherited hatred etc. would find the flag "offensive" (btw I think that "offensive" is the most stupid word ever). And of course, most people are being trendy and want to be offended by stuff. I have met literally ONE person that could be considered as someone who is triggered. It's a woman whose family was raped, beheaded and burned by muslim paratroopers some time ago, she was a girl back then and they left her alive for lulz and did all the various things to her family and made her watch. Then they dressed her in green draperies, as well as her family, then they burned her family and left her in those draperies. And once, I wore a green sweater (forgot about that, didn't know at the time, met her accidentally, doesn't matter) and she began to stutter and back off a bit while asking me "you like green? I don't like green?" with the accentuation of a child, she regressed a bit in a second. That said, she wasn't non-functional, but I would classify that as triggered, for example. Anything below that, fu-k off and grow up. I personally had relatives, civilians, as young as 16 slaughtered (as in dull knife and all that, not "slaughtered" as in mowed down by a rifle or something) and I do remember some other things too which I won't choke forums with Yet I don't go around and yell OFFENDED at everything that has to do with those events, I got better things to do and I am not an angsty teen. That said, some people can't be rational and that's it, and in this new culture of offendedededness, they are the most cherished and the most vocal ones (you don't have to go far, look at the whiny threads in this very forum ). My advice is to simply deal with it.
  2. inb4 a macedonian nationalist was beaten in south korea
  3. Thanks. I guess it's due to the combination of disbelief due to unfairness or something and the fact that 99.99% seem not to read the eula. Which I find odd, as eula literally defines your power (or the lack of it) regarding the virtual product in question. That said, my posts are being ignored by the OP, don't know why, maybe I sound differently than I actually write? I am only trying to explain and be helpful.
  4. No, according to my logic, with a prem acc and a sp, I would say Jingles would earn 50-80k per battle on average. He might be average as in to a somewhat dedicated player, but he certainly isn't average statistically (average meaning being better than fortysomething percent of players, as I am sure Jingles is at least in top 30% AND has a prem acc to boot, which multiplies his earnings by 1.5 - which most of the players don't have). No matter the contamination or white noise. I might sound cheesy, but have you seen the mathematical average wot player? I mean, if Jingles can turn both the hull and the turret in the same direction when being circled, let alone know the name of the tank he is driving, he is a god to that average player. Not to mention weak spots, tank classes, individual vehicles etc. which I am sure Jingles is aware of - and the average player is NOT. Average player will shoot the turret cheeks of type-59 because "there's a tank over there lol". I know I sound like those streamer dudes who belittle others and whine - and I despise them for that - but it really is like that. No, I agree on the populating mechanic, it's clear why it's there. However, you must take into consideration that a VERY, VERY, VERY low percentage of players of a f2p game actually pay for anything (I forgot who did the research, but it was along the lines of ~2% spending money - as in at all, so no regular spenders but a dude who bought something once for 1 euro would fall in those 2 percents). That said, what do you think is the percent of those who both regularly purchase premium account and have a high tier premium ship (or two!)? You might imagine With that in mind, I don't see the need to force the mid tier population that much, as I think the "most loyal customers" should avoid it. We are talking about hundreds of euros here (for example, steady premium time for months and one or more high tier premiums). There is no way that demographic will do anything to the tier balance, they are too few
  5. That is a moot point indeed. I would love to see that explained by lawyers, companies, whoever. As it stands, I have yet to see any bigger company having different approach from WG. I will again mention blizz's hots, where your average money-bought digital item will suffer MUCH worse tweaks in order to maintain balance and support power creep and of course, the first thing in the eula is that you don't own the item and that it's subject to change or even revoked, deleted or whatever without the company needing to explain anything. Basically, buy it if you still want to buy it, we warned you. It's not nice, but we were all warned. As for the real money purchases, does that law applies only for purchases or for leases (or what's the english word for borrow, loan etc)? Because, as far as I remember, we don't OWN ships.
  6. Ok, you are ignoring my posts, don't know why as they are well intentioned and I feel your pain as it happened to me to. BUT, have you read the eula? The whole purpose of it is to avoid being surprised by things like these. I am afraid murmansk doesn't "have" to stay as it is and I am sure it's mentioned somewhere in the contract you agreed to.
  7. No, it doesn't, I think everybody agrees to that. But that's beside the point. You agreed to the potential of that happening when you started the game, unfortunately. Many people don't realize that for some reason, as they don't read their rights - or non-rights As for your question - I have been screwed like that several times by various big game companies. I know how it feels. BUT - but, I knew that it MIGHT happen, as they inform you of that possibility before you go and buy items. Every company informs you. Almost literally they say "if you buy items we might screw you over and not compensate, do you want to proceed?". While it's not overly nice, you are presented with possible consequences and it's up to you, knowing that, to make a choice. As for the car analogy - in this case, before the purchase, the dealer notifies you that you are only paying for usage of the car and that they can change, confiscate or destroy the car without prior notice. Then it's your move, you can 1-exit the dealership and not have any of that nonsense or 2-take the risk.
  8. Yes, it would suck, but there are two differencies: 1-eula - where it says that they can do that to your car and if you click "yes", you agree that they can do that to your car 2-a multiplayer game needs to be balanced, unlike the lines of cars (connected to the eula part). That's why you only BORROW multiplayer game items (read any eula) and they can be: -revoked -changed for whatever reason - I am not kidding, they can literally go and say "lol for the lulz". NOW, a company won't do that for the publicity, of course. Even when WG fu-ked up the sp, they offered a refund, but not with the standard nerfs or tweaks.
  9. Of course I know mechanics behind tier creep, that's why high tiers are expensive. That said, let's take your example. In WoT, me, as a "good player" (again, that's vague, I see myself as a player that's not a liability to the team, but not good - but if we ask math, I seem to be pretty good), with 51-53 w/r and 1300-1500 wn8 (probably top %15 - again, that's not some feat as a lot of players are bad, but that is what we are working with and it would be unfair if we apply "common sense good" as it's not a real metric), was able to drive t10 tanks with premium account and earn credits in the long run (without pumping them up with premium tanks, only prem acc). That said, an average player would need moneymakers in order to enjoy their t10's. I get that you are an above average player in wows - my only metric is your engagement in forums, though, but let's go with that. Could you say the same would apply to you in wows as to me in wot? In that case, the multiplier remained proportionally the same and that's cool, as prem tanks in wot were worth their cost. If you have to pump more stuff, then I would say they cut on the relative premium vehicles earnings and left their cost to be the same - or even higher. Which is what we are discussing here. That intended pivot you are mentioning, could be succesfully avoided if you are a good player in wot. I never ever went into negative with a t10 (or god forbid t9) in the long run. Individual battles - yes, of course, I went into negative with t5. So, with my solid but not stellar skills, I was able, with the help of a premium account, earn money in a t10 tank. Which means that the average player lost money and had to pump their t10 with t5 or a premium in addition. So, he was filling the lower tiers populated, while I didn't have to because I got over the "skill threshold" - I really feel stupid talking about my average skill, but that's the truth, my skill, although average if I were to analyze it, was a lot better than the skill of a math average player. So, let's say I perform EXACTLY the same, quality-wise, in wows. From the posts, I would conclude that in wows, I would have much harder time economizing than in wot. Of course, we'll see, as we don't have the exact multipliers to look at them, but at least we have the comparison - wot. So, if a so-so solid player with a prem account can make profit in t10 in the long run (small profit, though), can he do the same in wows? Also, how does the dynamic of main prem moneymakers (t8) in wows pan out? Look to my wall of text post above if I sound confusing (sorry, technical terms in english aren't my forte ). Do they perform the same, credit-gain-wise? As they are same tier, same design philosophy, similar game, same company and, most importantly, they serve the same purpose.
  10. Read my post. COLLOQUIALLY, "average player" would be around 1200wn8 or so, but the true average (mathematical) is way below. Jingles is an above average player math-wise. This is the wn8 chart As you see, percentile-wise (math), average player is your regular "potato", ie what would commonly be referred to as a bad player, with 650-899 wn8. Let that sink in. That is the average wn of the player base. I doubt Jingles' wn is that low. So, 30k overall average seems pretty spot on as MAJORITY of players are below (or even WAY below) the 900wn8 mark. Add to that the fact that not many of players use premium account as well. A colloquially called decent or average player is more along the lines of a 1200wn8 maybe, which isn't mathematical average, as that player is in top ~30% of players. My calculations in my post above were based on that player, so a fairly decent one. But taken into consideration that the average Joe in WoT has wn8 at ~700, I'd say that 30k overall average is actually surprisingly good.
  11. That's the system, the question is, I believe, is the multiplier good enough - as in, economically. In WoT, it's pretty good, for example. Here, I see a lot of people complaining, even the good players. We aren't talking about the system, but the multiplier in practice. Or have I misunderstood the OP?
  12. I wouldn't hold my breath for US to let Japan go to bathroom without them I am more inclined to believe it's just a play. As in "look at us, we do stuff nao!" stunt - panem et circenses basically. As for the people, well, they will eventually have to choose some direction. US did a damn good job in fu-king up their cultural/political/everyday/popculture compass and I think Japan is like top5 nations in the world regarding the difficulty one will face when trying to fu-k up their compass So, we'll see About the pics, ahah I would guess it's just the horrible japanese, it would make sense.
  13. But the topic isn't about performance, it's about credit earnings. So a dude who sucks at wows and is playing a premium ship should earn more credits than a dude who sucks at wows and is playing a non-premium ship. I mean, what the metric of playing good/bad has to do with multipliers? Of course a bad player will perform and earn less than a good one.
  14. I think people are diving into spending money on video games without actually understanding and consenting to the rules. That's why every game forum has the same topics about purchases popping every week. Essentially, is a douche move to change an item you have bought with real money - perhaps it is. But that's beside the point, as game companies aren't state-owned bakeries for the poor, but private businesses, who often have very clear EULA's - which nobody reads. I read a few and it was enough to know what I'm dealing with, so when I decide to spend money on something, I know what I am getting into. EULA isn't just a bunch of boring letters. But always, ALWAYS, not some, but majority of people skip on them, which is fine, but it's pretty nonsensical to complain about things you haven't informed yourself about and decided to dive in regardless. -this car has manual gear! -but sir, that model comes with manual shift, it's in the prospect... -I don't care, I am the CUSTIMUR! refund me! I don't read no prospects! -sir, we don't offer refunds, it's also in the pros... -FU I would never do something like that as I like to know what could happen with my money/product. Go buy a hero in blizzard's Heroes of the storm - an example, as blizz is a big "non-belarussian company", for those "bias" dudes out there. See the hero BUTCHERED with nerfs (way more than any ship or tank will EVER be, that's the nature of the genre). Try and ask for a refund. You will be pointed to EULA. NO REFUNDS. That said, WG actually DID refunds with superpershing, which is a precedent, not something to be expected. Long story short, ANYTHING can happen to your purchased item. ANYTHING. And you won't get a refund. Because, you have "rented" that item rather than "bought" it and the item is subject to change and can also be taken away from you for the lulz. As can your account. Even if you weren't doing bannable things. Because they "hold the right to blahblah" with everything related to the game - in order to protect themselves. Which is perfectly natural. I have no problem with that, so I tend to buy stuff in games - but I ALWAYS know what I can expect and decide in my mind whether or not I will make the purchase. So should you. This isn't directed at the OP, but in general. Many "lives could have been saved" if people actually read what were they buying and what it entailed. Umm, I said the same thing?
  15. That is even more interesting. Dat Abe though, I always wonder what's his story, especially when both countries are essentially murican protectorates. I mean, he does put on a "decisive independent" persona, probably to lull the japanese even more... Geopolitics, you are so muric... interesting.
  16. Yes, but you can do all of that in WoT with premium tanks, which are either priced the same or cheaper and there's a possibility that ships earn less when compared to their tank counterparts. Which is the main point of this topic. Plus, a VERY important part, xp conversion costs are the same in two games, which is a bit ridiculous.
  17. Then the point becomes pretty moot indeed. Then again, japanese themselves seem to abstain themselves from using it in said cases. That's a bit weird, you stand behind your flag, you either choose to give a middle finger to the offended or on the other side, change the flag into something new. Then again, Japan has been occupied to the point of schizophrenia for 70 years...
  18. That's awfully interesting. I didn't know that. I always thought it was a colloquial resentment, not a law. If so, then the law argument doesn't stand and I stand corrected. As for the japan navy flag, is it actually illegal in korea or it;s just offensive to koreans?
  19. While I agree, I think you should browse the EULA a bit Not WG's eulas, but in general. I think you'll have a heart attack That said, they did offer a refund (in gold though, not in moneyz) in WoT once, as they nerfed a tank quite a bit. They will never offer a refund of any sort for "normal" nerfs/buffs/tweaks though. And in my experience, big companies don't do that, nor they let you actually own the game/items etc. (for example blizzard and many mmo making companies). In other words, fair or not, you have agreed to their eula once you clicked it and when I say you should read it I really mean it, I am not trying to be funny, it will give you perspective on video games and your relation to them as a customer in general. That said, that doesn't mean we shouldn't rant, but that's about it.
  20. Dude, I agree with you, I was just giving another input. lol I didn't know about this Where is hammer and sickle illegal? I thought that swastika is pretty much the only symbol that's actually illegal to use in number of countries (and maybe japanese navy flag in some). I had no idea hammer and sickle was illegal.
  21. I wouldn't be so sure. It's too "international incident" material. Japanese imperial flag is "old news" when it comes to banning and it's not exactly their national flag anymore except for certain uses. Even more so goes for nazi iconography. US flag is a legitimate flag of an existing country. I don't think they are in the same boat.
  22. It wouldn't matter even if he found 100 000. There is no way a big company making popular games would ban the us flag in one of their games.
  23. They can because it's not exactly like the government shuns the us flag or something and if we go down the "common citizen road", majority of people are perfectly indifferent towards the US flag and possibly mildly annoyed by the nato flag, for example. And, urban hipsters are mesmerized with both and about EU, it's 50-50 or something. It's a bit different with swastikas and stuff as they are actually banned. You are coming from the place of something offending someone, while I think this is more about laws OR maybe a national sentiment. Which still wouldn't apply - go and interview people on the streets are they offended by the US flag and you'll get confused looks and indifferent responses because they don't give a f-k enough for it to be an issue. Obviously, Koreans, Chinese etc. give enough fu-ks for japanese imperial flag to present an issue. And it's not only a sentiment, the flag is actually banned in some countries. Now, US flag isn't banned in Serbia. The only thing that's banned is the swastika and I am not even sure of that (as in, it's banned as an ideological thing, you can't wave a nazi flag, but you could put a nazi flag in the game and again, no one would give a f-k - actually, people would be thrilled because of the authenticity).
  24. 100k per match on average in wot is a bit exaggerated. I am a solid player - this is irrelevant actually, as, regardless of that, I know what values are commonly regarded as "good" or "bad" or "excellent". Having two t8 premiums, in my experience and in experience of just about everybody else I know, it would ROUGHLY (I emphasise on roughly) be something like this (WITH premium account and talking about net profit, though the expenses are negligible in t8 prem tanks): -bad game: -x to 40 000 (yes, I got to minus credits once, I got gibbed at the start without either spotting anyone or doing any damage. That said, that was once in ~700-ish games with those tanks and in other similar situations where I did absolutely nothing, I still got around 5 000) -average game: 40 000 - 70 000 -good game: 70 000 - 90 000 -awesome game: 90 000 - 120 000 -once-a-year-game: ~150 000 - 200 000 That said, truly average player (and I mean mathematically, without the fallacious "common sense average", which raises the bar - which is ok in some aspects as majority of people aren't playing the game to their own potential - but it isn't a representative of something being average - a player who is at the top 10% for example, isn't average, although in a colloquial sense it's assumed that the "averageness" starts at being at top 20%) would earn, well, considerably less than your "colloquially average player" so, his average game might be at ~40 000, for example. So, the numbers above relate to the "normal player" and not the "average player". We could assume that people in this topic would be around that level or higher, by the very fact they are engaging in a forum exchange (not the most reliable metric, but you know what I mean). Now, with a non prem t8 tank you might want to cut those in half and more. And, of course, count in the threshold coming from repairs and resupply, which are considerably more expensive for non prem tanks. That said, you could expect to, for example, go for a hefty negative on a bad game or maybe cut even. On an average game, you might earn 5000-10 000. On a good game, make it 20 000. And so on. That is considerable difference. Your "normal" (so, not math average) player might have 60 000 per battle in the long run in a t8 premium. That's 6 000 000 after 100 battles. That same player would earn maybe even less than a million after those 100 battles in a regular t8, let's say he would earn a million. And, without a premium account, he would probably break even with a non premium t8 and earn 4 000 000 in a premium t8. Now, this could be done forever, but the point is, whether it's the multiplier or the extremely low costs of repairs and resupply or combination of both, t8 premium tanks are RELIABLE source of good income - in other words, they do their job, even if you have a VERY, VERY, VERY bad day in them. Best non premium moneymakers (t5 tanks) are good indeed, but won't ever come close in earnings. In other words, if you want to earn credits and buy a t8 premium tank, you are covered. If you have two (to switch when you die in one), you can say "ok, time to grind money for a t10" and pull one marathon and voila, there's your t10, ready to be bought. The price of a t10 tank is ~6 000 000. As for the average battle time in wot FOR A PLAYER (so, not the whole battle, but an average duration for a player, as you are more likely to die than not), last time I checked (which was like two years ago but I did check at the reliable source) was FOUR MINUTES. Let's add a minute to that for loading and stuff. If we count in the good factors ("normal player", two t8 tanks to rotate, premium account) we get that you'll need around 10 hours to grind more than a t10 tank's worth. Of course, the "per minute" metric would help here more, but this was some loose juggling from my experience and experiences of others. So, basically, when translated to WoWs, do these relations stand? In other words, a said "normal player", rotating atago and tirpitz for 10 hours would earn how much?
  25. You don't get it, it's not exactly a choice. You seem to look at wg as some dude talking to another dude in a bar, instead of a public company with a public product. As someone already pointed out, freaking wolfenstein had to be edited in order to be consumed in germany - HAD to. So, it's more about set of rules then about being sjw. Do I find it cool? No, I would love to have all the flags and stuff, but that's not exactly the point.
