Sakura is going to be similar layout to Isokaze. Tachibana could be the other ship of the Sakura class or a 1944 27kts small destroyer, similar to US DE. -

If it's really a balance concern then there are so many to list that it might include almost every ship not already in game. examples: Wicks and Clemson, in reality they are pretty much interchangeable but in game they are a tier apart. Apply that to the Shiratusyu, near identical to Hatsuharu. IJN DDs between Fubuki to Kagero and Yugumo are all very similar in general layout some weapon difference but I don't think it's enough for a 3-4 tier spread. Allen M Sumner the precursor to Gearing class. Gleaves class, pretty much identical to Benson. Brooklyn, precursor to Cleaveland but with 15x 6" guns really going to mess up the timeline there. Somers and Porter inter war units with 8x 5"/51. German DDs also same issue with Sumner/Gearing. RN inter war DDs A-I class are all same basic design minor differences. Even their war built units are standardized. Might seem off topic at first but putting ships with similar layout in different tiers creates the problem in the first place. The only hope I have are the Russian ships, there's so few of them that maybe half will be unbuilt plans so they can make any thing up for those. As WG keep adding ships they'll have to come up with wackier stats to differentiate ships it's a down hill slope I feel. -
What would a 356mm+ armor piercing shell really do to a destroyer?

Whats more interesting is if a BB does 800 damage on over penetration to a DD then eventually the DD can be sunk by over over penetrating it, repeatedly. I can't make it sound less dirty than that. -

They could give DD no repair but make them twice as maneuverable and the slowest should be at least 2 knots faster than any CL. Take away all DD primary guns make them secondaries pretty much making DD torpedo boats, it'll be much easier to balance. Make torps more consistent with each other, the disparity between IJN and US torps is silly, imagine when Russia, Britain and German ships come in are they going to have US torp range or what? Better yet make a stat for DD, CC, BB, CV for each tier cut and past for each nation and give 20% advantage to national flavor. I think the game had abandoned realism pretty early on that it should abandon realism completely. -
Yeah it's a pain those module hits, and DD don't live long if steering or engine gets hit. What usually happens is one of those gets hit I repair and then on the next shot it or both gets hit again. In a way its nice and realistic and I can live with it IF the rule applies to all ship types.

would be better that if you click on an upgrade it shows you what the ship will look like so you can see the difference.

Hi, I'm new also. I'd say get each of the next tier ships, Destroyer (DD), Cruiser (CC) and work to BB and play with them. I prefer destroyers to battleships because of the maneuverability and when I want to go shooty I get in a cruiser. If you've saved up 3.5mil playing Erie then I don't think you'll have trouble with credits. I think I moved up to the next ship with no where near to a mil in credits. The bottle neck is researching the next ship. Have fun
