The updgraded Pensacola has the original 10x203 mm, i guess the 8x203 mm was an earlier project of the ship(i may be wrong)
-
Maybe, maybe not. Besides that's at least a plausible upgrade which doesn't add another nation to the Oerlikon spam(since US, UK and France will use them). Then again we'll see since it's a long way off and apparently the Japanese AA seems to be good(even though the 25/60 wasn't exactly great)
-
I know but i was considering the C/30, not the Oerlikon
-
Turret rotation becomes relevant only at short ranges and even then you can compensate by turning with the ship. I find the RoF more useful overall, then again some upgrades are better than others.
-
Turret rotation isn't a big deal while the RoF is.
-
The Italian tree will come eventually, it should be either the 6th or the 7th nation(after Russia, Germany and UK). In any case here's the topic in which i post the stuff i'm doing about a fan made Italian tree, it's far from being completed though.
-
I was considering the fact that they share the same munition and the RoF is similar.

Here is a list of AA guns used by the RM over this period of time. Just for convenience i'll divide into small caliber(up to and including 20 mm guns), medium caliber(up to and including the proposed 65/64), and heavy AA guns(from the 76 mm on). Small caliber -Colt-Browning 6.5/80: modified M1895 with the Italian 6.5x52 mm round(used on the Italian rifles) and they were water cooled. There isn't in Navypedia so i had to rely on Wiki -Breda 13.2/75.7: heavy machine gun used in the '30s and replaced by the newer Breda 20/65. -Breda 20/65: autocannon developed in the mid '30s, similar to the Rheinmetall 20/65 C/30 in performance. There were also planned quad and sextuple mounts(for Medaglie d'Oro and Aquila respectively). -Isotta Fraschini 20/70: similar in performance to the Breda 20/65(hence there isn't the page for it). There are single, twin and, perhaps, quad mounts(if we consider the mount developed for the M15/42). Due to the similarities with the Breda 20/65 i think it will be dropped -Rheinmetall 20/65 C/38: Used on Italian ships captured by the Germans. It could act as replacement of the Breda 20/65 due to their similarities(just like in case of the Germans in which the C/38 replaced the C/30) -Oerlikon 20/70: used on some ships which remained under Italian control after the Armistice. Personally i would avoid them since those guns are already present in multiple nations and the 20/65 C/38 is good enough Medium caliber -Breda 37/54: medium AA gun developed in the early '30s and used in pretty much every Italian ship. There was also a planned quad mount(for Medaglie d'Oro and UP.41) -Vickers-Terni 40/39: licensed production of the British 2-pdr. -Bofors 40/56: some ships got 40/56 post-war. Personally i would prefer to use the 37/54 although its use may be inevitable(since all the nations had them) -Ansaldo/Terni 65/64: an experimental AA gun which never entered service. It was supposed to have an electrically powered loading equipment which proved troublesome but then it was discarded in favor of hand loading. I assume we could see this gun ingame as it was supposed to be originally but i have to hunt for the theoretical RoF. Large caliber -Ansaldo 76.2/40: licensed production of the British 12 pdr. -Ansaldo/OTO 90/50: the most modern large caliber AA gun available in the Italian arsenal. There was also a twin mount planned(for UP.41 and the cruisers developed for Spain). -OTO 100/47: copy of the Skoda 100/47 which was used on pretty much every large ship as tertiary armament until the 90/50 showed up. -Ansaldo/OTO 135/45: apparently the only true gun Italy developed with DP mounts although i still have to verify the existence of such mounts. Still i'll leave it here just in case

WG decided to call Tatsuta and not Tenryuu. The reason why is unknown.

destroyers need nurf take away marker telling you where to aim torpedos
Deamon93 replied to acm166's topic in General Discussion
Destroyers are the most difficult class out there already, no need to nerf them. Here are the reasons: 1)You can avoid torpedoes by maneuvering, hence the lead indicator doesn't guarantee a hit 2)Low tier destroyer reload relatively fast but they have to hug the targets to hit them hence making (in most cases) a suicide run. If you pay attention you can nuke a DD way before it gets into range. High tier DDs take ages to reload and they are much more visible making their job more and more difficult 3)Limiting torpedoes wouldn't help since achieving high hit rates with torpedoes is borderline impossible unless you get lucky and find only camping BBs. In most cases you get a small percentage of hits per salvo, especially at long range(when the DD is sort of safe).- 59 replies

There are much worse though. Speaking of AA i wonder if Italy will be able to have the 20/65 C/38 and/or the 20/70 Oerlikon instead of the 20/65 Breda and the 40/56 instead of the 37/54.
-
Sort of yeah, it still won't be great since the known counterparts have better torpedo armament(2x5 Gearing, 3x5 Shimakaze). Then again the torpedo armament isn't where the Italian DD line shines.

Georgios Averof Pisa-class armored cruiser
Deamon93 replied to Magkas13's topic in Age of Armour Warships
Well we could take as example Kawachi. Technically the wing turrets had 305/45 while the centreline ones had 305/50. Ingame all the turrets have the same guns hence i think it's plausible to see Pisa/San Giorgio with the 254 mm guns or the 190 mm guns. Regarding her speed it's not a problem, 23 knots is quite fast for a ship of her size and age and she's well armored/armed to deal with cruisers with ease. Another good/potentially OP could be Garibaldi at tier II: sure it has only 4x203 mm guns or 2x254 mm guns(the mix of the two is unlikely although historically accurate) but she has a very heavy secondary armament. Poor Chester and Chikuma won't like her -
2)Ships can't turn on spot unless you have very complex propulsion systems which even nowadays isn't exactly easy to achieve.

Italy will come, eventually. -

All depends if Italy will or will not get the original Pisa -
Tier upgrades need to feel like upgrades
Deamon93 replied to SGT_BIG_JOEY's topic in General Discussion
It's known and acknowledged the fact that Cleveland is misplaced, there are already multiple topics on that regard. Nagato doesn't have her 1945 refit which has the secondary armament based entirely on the 5" DP mounts and has a lot more AA. Regarding the firepower the mass fired per minute is similar in both ships, what makes the big difference is the crazy bad accuracy of Nagato. Regarding the destroyers i think that's mainly due to how the reload system works(more smaller torpedo launchers are better than fewer bigger ones). Regarding Mogami/Myoko i have to test them in the current patch(i haven't played with Japanese cruisers yet) but 10x8" guns should be decent, although Mogami has a better layout(Mogami was designed after Myoko). What makes Myoko superior is most likely the higher number of torpedoes, then again i don't think two more torps per side should give the edge to the older cruiser. -
The shape of the ship looks so strange with those turrets placed outside the centreline. Even though the firepower is identical to Dante Alighieri looks more fearsome, also thanks to the heavier secondary.
-
I really like this design. It's a shame it was discarded in favor of the reconstruction of Conte di Cavour/Caio Duilio(which proved overall not so successful). By the way your own variant looks gorgeous. By the way the 152 looks like it is the 152/55 by the spacing, correct? The ones of your design that is.

Ah ok ^^ EDIT: my pc is back so hopefully i'll be able to make the first video today! It would just be an introduction, from tomorrow on i'll make more videos to catch up the "wasted" time

How do the daily missions count downs work/daily mission bug
Deamon93 replied to WOTomatoSauce's topic in General Discussion
You get only one new mission per day, hence why two out of three take more than 24 hours -
CAT? Shouldn't it be CBT? o.O Anyway that's a shame but understandable, the devs don't want the servers to get flooded immediately. I'm sure there will be more ruonds of recruitment eventually
-
When i'll get i'll do the introduction video in which i'll explain the core mechanics and then most likely i'll try to show both gameplay and some theory regarding trees, classes in the specifics and so on ^^. Ideally i'll make a video per every ship but that won't finish anytime soon

You still show as player and not Beta Tester, i guess that's the problem.
