You're over estimating her capabilities since Yamato and Montana would roflstomp her every time(and this ship has to be a higher tier due to her nature).
-
She's in the reign of Cassone, more or less
-
Homing torpedoes tended to be slower than their standard counterparts, making them useless.
-
I haven't counted them because they won't come anytime soon but you're right. It will be also a big problem for the Germans, for the French and for the Italians which have long CL lines(or at least have the potential of having them). I considered only Russia because she's the next nation in line
-
Tier is irrelevant, is just a number set by WG which can easily change(see Mogami/Myoko swap). What do matter are the capabilities and how they are represented ingame. Let's take as example Myoko and Cleveland, both fully upgraded(i'll base the whole discussion with ingame stats and, whenever they are lacking, with historical data): HP pool -Myoko: 39200 -Cleveland: 35200 Protection -Myoko: -Cleveland(already posted above but to keep everything in the same post): Armament -Myoko: 10x200/50 3rd Year Type No.2 with 5 rpm ingame(1 rpm higher than historical) with 3800/4700 of alpha damage(HE/AP). Maximum damage potential per minute on broadside of 190000/235000(with the historical RoF it would be 152000/188000) -Cleveland: 12x6"/47 Mk 16 with 7.5 rpm ingame(2.5 rpm slower than historical) with 2600/3200 of alpha damage(HE/AP) Maximum damage potential per minute on broadside of 234000/288000(with the historical RoF it would be 312000/384000) Speed -Myoko: 36 knots -Cleveland: 33 knots As you can see even with the ingame RoF values Cleveland is scary, more so with the historical RoF(it's there to show how different those two ships are compared to historical while keeping the same damage values per shell). From range Myoko is better but when Cleveland closes in the Japanese cruiser risks big time(which is true for all the other Washington Treaty cruisers). In any case Cleveland may not cause issues now but she will be soon enough when the Soviet cruisers show upsince the most modern cruiser they had, Sverdlov, is similar to Cleveland. If you place Sverdlov with Cleveland you massively compress all the other Russian cruisers in the four tiers below(since tier I is different) which is far from advisable for a nation which would have to rely on light cruisers for most of the line
-
It doesn't work that way though. In any case nerfing her RoF won't achieve anything simply because you would warp the characteristics of the ships and everybody can easily check the original stats of the guns(here). To have a ship which visually looks like DM but stats wise isn't would achieve the same result of changing her out right(with the difference of not waiting for a new model to come out). Technically Cleveland is much better protected than Aoba. From Navypedia Cleveland Aoba As you can see Cleveland should be much better protected than Aoba in every aspect. Of course we don't know for sure if the models respect the historical values but that's another issue. It may or may not be true considering the fact that both behave fairly differently from the historical counterparts(otherwise Cleveland would win against Aoba pretty much every time).

IJN aircraft carriers - 2nd branch confirmed
Deamon93 replied to Haatra's topic in General Discussion
Cleveland is already nerfed and Aoba buffed so you can't follow this approach forever with more and more cruiser lines added. Still it's off topic. Taiho is the tier IX of the line currently implemented. Taiho didn't join her brethren immediately because of balance issues(same goes with Hakuryu) -

We can't say. Everything related to ST is bound to NDA. We could say something in case we test ships in the live server but not much -

They will focus on new nations before adding new ones to the existing trees. In any case we already knew, as you can see from the ""what we know about ship"" topic. -
Greek ships may show up eventually, who knows when. Regarding Averof in particular all depends if the armored cruisers get implemented or not. At the moment their fate is unclear but we'll see. Hopefully yeah but, even if that's the case, most like the original project(Pisa-class) will show up earlier than Averof(since Italy should show up earlier than Greece, at least in theory).

What we know about Ships: Updated 05/04/2017

Well Amagi has unhistorical AA upgrades so i don't see a problem on that regard. Considering the historical data is complicated to place her since she's superior to Myoko but weaker than Mogami, becoming a sort of tier 7.5. I think that WG could place her in either tier, depending on the soft stats. Still would be nice to have both Takao and Maya present although i don't see how they could split the two(since the differences are one primary armament turret less and few more AA) -
Well Ev1n and Tuccy explained the situation in that topic. In any case mine was just an opinion regarding Bismarck(or any other class which would have a ship classified as premium out of convenience). Personally i don't think name alone suffice, for money making i could use a mid tier ship without risking to become a target practice for Shokaku.
-
After looking at the premium ships i wondered how WG chose those ships and, as a consequence, which criteria they followed. I was able to divide the current premiums(ie the ones you can buy with tokens from the trees themselves) into categories: I)Designs with unique playstyles: Atlanta and Kitakami II)Big names: Aurora and Warspite III)Foreign designs: Albany and Murmansk While it's relatively easy to define categories there is a question: is there priorities between them? ie preferences on one category more than others. I'm asking due to my curiosity and due to the fact i have to work on the premiums for the Italian tech tree i'm working on.
-
Well Shokaku started with the same planes of Akagi and Kaga, then planes changed because Shokaku and Zuikaku survived long enough to have new planes. Anyway why shouldn't Akagi and Kaga be at tier VIII? Because you haven't explained that well
-
Akagi and Kaga were able to carry more planes, they have a heavier artillery armament(although it's usefulness is questionable if WG gives to the 8" guns a pitiful range) while having less AA but they hadn't the time to upgrade the AA on them sink they sank early on. They are different thank Shokaku, that's true, but by no means they are utter crap and not worthy of staying at tier VIII.
-
Too bad you aren't in ST, you would know why we consider discussing on those stats pointless. Anyway i don't see why WG should split the classes, then again it's just my opinion. Personally i wouldn't buy Bismarck because of the name if there's Tirpitz available in the tree and i would be able to buy the better ship without spending a penny while i would have to spend euros for a CV magnet like Bismarck(because she's going to be one). They were placed at the same tier and considering the aircraft complement they are comparable. Of course Shokaku is better but they had a longer service during WWII while both Kaga and Akagi were sunk early on. In any case the devs said they will focus on adding more nations before adding more lines to the current ones.

Does WG favor some people with T10 carriers?
Deamon93 replied to Delta_Leader's topic in General Discussion
I've never seen her so that's why i wasn't sure. Anyway they were present in the common test(both of them) and not implemented immediately in the tree due to balance issues(they were considered too strong). With those tests WG will be able to evaluate if the fixes are fine although Hakuryu doesn't have her counterpart yet. -

Deamon93 replied to Delta_Leader's topic in General Discussion
As far as i know Taiho were given to people for testing purposes while Hakuryu(the tier X) should still be unavailable(i may be wrong). Technically both were supposed to be implemented with the rest of the ships but they were found unbalanced. Still not everyone has Taiho because otherwise everybody with play with her making the whole test pointless. Besides Midway will come eventually, she wasn't implemented because her model wasn't ready(at least last time we asked was that way). -
The AA armament is AI controlled, you can give priorities(control left click on the squadron)
-
Well i don't know if they have something from their own, Aurora excluded. I'm not sure about Bismarck, or even Warspite. Sure they are big names but they would bring nothing different to the table compared to the other sisters. Is the name and the premium status good enough to maintain the appeal compared to the sisters? One of them is surely required for the second CV line. In my opinion Kaga is more likely as premium mainly because she happened to be converted(due to the damage substained by Amagi during the 1923 earthquake). Of course that's just an opinion. The problem of Bismarck if that if the stats happened to be "worthy" of the name people will rage, as it already happened(but that's another story). Didn't see that, thanks! It's a bit of a shame having Takao as premium but she's a really cool design and i think she'll do fine as premium Considering Gremyashchy intriguing is a bit optimistic though since Project 7 was the based for future destroyers(Project 7U and Project 30). Of course i don't consider the fact that the design comes from the standard Italian destroyer which would have multiple iterations from tier IV(Sauro) and tier VIII(Soldati II-Improved Maestrale). The tiers are assumed considering their capabilities of course. My "concern" is that for my tree i have avoided as much as possible stealing "big names" from the main lines and stealing ships from other trees(unless heavily modified) because it would be bad to see multiple times the same ship with little to no differences. The only somewhat big name present in my current premium list is Dante Alighieri because i can't find a spot for her.

Deamon93 replied to mr3awsome's topic in General Discussion
Have you noticed the German tree? She's there at tier VIII. -
Patience, it takes time for a ship to finish the whole process. I'm sure WG will implement her as soon as possible, depending on how the testing goes of course. Too late for that . Anyway that would be a bit too much since a lot of people care for that ship.
-
Following that logic Vanguard should be at the same tier of Warspite since they share the same armament but then you'll have a vastly superior ship sitting at that tier causing issues like Cleveland is causing for the cruisers.
-
Yhat's mainly a problem of the population distribution along the tiers. In any case i haven't played at low tiers in ages so i can't say much, hopefully more people will get added over time fixing the issue
-
The bane of their existence is the fact taht they end up against higher tiers most of the time which makes them look bad. In a II-III match they are solid and nice to play with
