Nice picture! It's a shame is low quality but better this than nothing

Submarines never took part in fleet engagements so they aren't like tank engagements without heavy tanks. Subs were used as commerce raiders and took shots at warships only as targets of opportunity. In Steel Oceans their subs aren't subs, they are pretty much MTBs which can go underwater. If you want subs just play Silent Hunter

Perhaps but I would prefer a more reasonable level(between IV and VI) which would be a more suitable trainer. In any case we'll see

The Italian archives aren't the easiest one to deal with so might be that. Of course it's just an assumption, can't say for sure

Saw it, let's hope to get more SOONTM

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Deamon93 replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Personally I don't know, I just know there's a very strict set of rules and regulations one must adhere to work with the archive, don't know exactly what material they have. Then of course there are the private archives(Ansaldo, Fincantieri etc) but those should be even more of a mess -

Did they say that officially? Not that it's false, it's a pain in the butt to work with the Italian Navy archives -

[quote name= Hello, commanders. A few clarifications here on the recent announcement. The list provided is only a part of plans, so if something isn't there, it may be coming anyways. We just had to pick stuff. For example CV improvement is 100% in the 2017 roadmap. But on WGF we concentrated on new features, for the sake of interesting presentation. Yes, VMF DD sub-branch. Other lines will come too, including more splits. Don't worry - we did German BBs, we did RN cruisers, alternative IJN DDs, now we're doing German DDs..it's not like we're doing only Soviet ships here. But they are important for us and I don't see why they shouldn't be. We respect history, including our naval heritage. Yes, "intuition" perk. We adjusted it after supertest. It will be weaker, it will be countered, and it is 4 points now. We are fully aware of your concerns - no, it is not going to kill anything. Let's not draw inaccurate conclusions and wait for public test. We believe it will work, and contribute to the game in a good way. If not, well, we know how to cancel bad stuff. But honestly, after all thought, I don't think that is the case. No, unique commanders won't be OP, but they will be worthy. Getting something cool and collectible to the game is good. As well as rewarding experience for active players. And kindly let me say big thanks to all of you - 2016 was fantastic for the project, and it is not even over yet. That wouldn't be possible without your support and dedication. We will celebrate this together soon, so stay tuned for more news. Cheers! Not like there are two major naval powers missing, including one instrumental for the Soviet shipbuilding program. -
Perhaps but Littorio was able to hit from at least 9 clicks out HMS Kingston and HMS Havock with her 15" guns(and a reaction of that ingame would be glorious) so even historically that was random. For her protection scheme that's more complicated due to how it is layed out
-
What might be painful is the transition to and from Caracciolo, due to her very different armament performance(100+ m/s slower muzzle velocity compared to other Italian guns). The rest should be morevor less player friendly, maybe except BC 1930(a potential tier VII candidate) which is a scaled down Littorio
-
The Italian guns should have more guns tier by tier, with some exceptions(the rebuilt Conte di Cavour/Caio Duilio, most likely tier V material and Caracciolo, most likely tier VI material). Protection wise that also changed somewhat drastically during the period and even the high tier ships should behave differently(depending on how WG depicts Littorio armor scheme). A speed boost on a BB would be a bit too much, considering most of the ships are already on the faster side for the class tier by tier. Moreover to be considered doesn't have to be mutually exclusive with the heal ability, otherwise won't be picked ever.
-
Then which flavor would the Italian BBs have? Since they changed somewhat drastically over the period in question in most regards(except speed which was usually above average for the period but that alone can't do much).
-
Nation flavor isn't that easy to depict since shipbuilding within a nation can change(and, in some cases, did change).

True but at least we know we're not forgotten somewhere, officially at least

Dunkerque vs. Graf Spee - The Greatest Battle that Never Was
Deamon93 replied to Procrastes's topic in General Discussion
Strassbourg was completed and entered service before WWII started. Regardless radar does jack on its own and doesn't compensate the massive advantage Dunkerque has(if you count Strassbourg the advantage is even bigger). -
Dunkerque vs. Graf Spee - The Greatest Battle that Never Was

Once upon a time there was an armed merchantmen as tier I for the Brits, don't recall the name though. We might see them but it will be difficult You're making quite strong assumptions. Graf Spee in these conditions would do either of two things: flee without getting spotted or letting Dunkerque know of her presence and hope she can get in a friendly port ASAP since Dunkerque can delay the engagement to come back on better conditions. Besides Germany can also into surrendering, even when there's pretty much nobody on the other side(see Graf Spee in Montevideo) -
Highlighted the relevant question. No ETA yet but having additional confirmations is useful, especially if they come from the Motherland itself.

Interesting the fact they want to replace AFKers with bots, I wonder how that would work -
Don't worry, NASA lost a satellite for a similar reason Used navypedia Personally I wouldn't put too much weight on how big the community is. Granted how big the market is for the trees is a factor but just one of them. Considering they're hiring we might have an Italian section SOONTM

78k tons is 78000 tons, pretty much as much as Yamato fully loaded(if not slighly more). Iowa had over 7000 tons of fuel so a good amount, then again she had to sail around the Pacific
-
Richelieu was slightly faster(due to more powerful machinery) and had considerably more range due to the fact she carried around 50% more fuel(over 6000 tons Richy, a bit more than 4000 tons Littorio).

Dunkerque vs. Graf Spee - The Greatest Battle that Never Was
Deamon93 replied to Procrastes's topic in General Discussion
Dunkerque is as fast but with much better primary armament and protection. She was designed specifically to hunt down and murder the Deutschland-class mercilessly and, in an engagement, would have happened exactly that. Unless ambushed from close range, where the Deutschland-class can use torpedoes, she's a clear winner. By the way I highly doubt can be called the greatest battle that never was: the Deutschland-class was a glorified commerce raider, meant to fight against cruisers but pretty much screwed the moment a battlecruiser or a fast battleship shows up since she wasn't able neither to outgun nor to outrun the enemy in question. There are a fair number of other matchups which deserve more credit than this due to the fact, unless in very strange and specific conditions, one side(Dunkerque) has a very high probability to blast the other to pieces. -
At tier VIII there should be Algerie so the French should be able to go up there with potentially only papers down low(II, III and, depending on how they arrange the line, IV). T47 might work as a high end DD option, potentially in parallel to the last pre-war designs. Would be quite interesting since this ship might be the only one with the 5"/54 ingame(others used such guns as well but fewer of them and with a much more pronounce ASW focus from the get go).
-
On destroyers perhaps but on cruisers and battleships there are a number of ships which can stand out. At least there's a number of ships which would offer something interesting

Need to look at the details of the ships you quoted to evaluate. As of now the only sketchy part is Design 1047 at tier X since she's pretty much Scharnhorst cousin. I'm not too familiar with France so can't comment on that but as far as Italy is concerned it can offer very interesting ships, especially if WG picks Ansaldo projects for tier IX and X.
