Well the whole point is that you will be matchmaked with people with similar performance as yourself. Meaning that if you are for example a rank 10, you will be matched with other people who are also rank 10 and with somewhat similar skill level as yourself, and in the end of the battle some will rank up, others will rank down. But if you are an average player you can't expect to get on top that easy and you will have to put in a lot of work as there are quite skilled captains out there. Also due to the fact that there is lots of RNG in the game you will sometimes lose or win just by pure luck which will also have an impact on your rank range. But overall I think that most of the "yoloing 40%" won't even bother with ranked battles and most of the players you will see there will be average players with average stats. If you are a decent player and play a lot of those battles I assume sooner or later you will be in a rank bracket closer to the top ranks but for the top 5 you will need to play very well. In the end though it's just my personal thoughts as on the test server we didn't have enough time to test out everything, but from what I saw people were actually playing smart, were coordinating and were generally playing as a team - for the win and not for the personal score ( which i hope will carry on to live server )

Maybe they had their AA ability off cooldown so it gave them a boost. Also bare in mind that the Cleveland, although it's a ship with a very strong AA on it's own, might have had both ship upgrades as well as captain skills for even more AA fire and all that combined with the fact that he was 1 tier above you might be the reason that this has happened. As a CV player you need to respect the tier differences in ships, because their AA gets increased quite a bit with the higher tiers, which is somewhat countered by the increase in survivability of your planes as you get to higher tiers. However if you attack a high tier ship with low tier planes it is normal that you will lose many planes due to the simple fact that the high tier has high DPS of their AA and you planes have low survivability in proportion to that. It's just how the game works, that's why we have tiers.
-
Technically you can attack your teammates - you just need to do a manual drop with your air groups on them. But returning fire is not the solution man, you just need to take a deep breath, calm down if you've gotten pissed and try to provide some evidence (replay or SS) when you post a ticket about that to support. Hopefully the player will get what he deserves.

Well with the bad design choice in fonts and size the timer is actually something which not a lot of players tend to pay attention to. You could help out by supporting this topic so that the devs can hopefully do some changes to the timer like making it bigger and adding sound effects!

Yeah, keep your ships, you can never know what the future holds! Who knows... the Albany might get a tier bump and a hull refit

That's why my point is to close the distance with the Colorado and not the NC, as the Colorado's armor actually works. And if you are facing two Clevelands which are focusing you ofc it's common sense to disengage and to try to make them pick another target but from what I've experienced, from what I've watched, from what I've seen with platoon mates - engaging from distances of 14-11km (or less if plausible) will give you the best results in damage per game as well as average xp, cause in the end the point is to grind this ship asap. After all the Colorado is not a ship which can carry games on it's own. Also another thing which the Colorado captains need to get used to is patience. Holding off your shot until the enemy presents it's side will be the most rewarding thing ever, especially vs cruisers as you can one shot them or at least get them so low that your team can finish them off.

Full list of 0.4.1 ship changes from PTS (including undocumented changes)

It could be possible, but I thought I should mention it as it caught my eye. We will have to wait for the official patch notes though. -
The Colorado is actually not such a bad ship as most players call it to be. Yes it's a lumbering monster which barely turns and sails, but it's guns are good especially in close range, not to mention its AA. If you are sniping in a Colorado from the back you are doing it wrong. The key is to close the distance and to brawl, cause you benefit from better opportunities for citadel hits, and you must take advantage of it's good armor. When I say braw I don't mean be the only ship rushing ahead, but try to be as close as possible without getting focused by the whole enemy team. Before OBT, there used to be armor values for the ships and from what I remember (correct me if i'm wrong) the Colorado was the most armored of all the US BBs, and after tier 8 they sacrifice armor for speed and a different design. I've had some amazing games with my Colorado when it managed to slowly sail closer to the battlefield and I've always been happy to see North Carolinas and even Iowas in the enemy team as they were so easy for me to get at least 1 citadel per salvo on them.

Full list of 0.4.1 ship changes from PTS (including undocumented changes)

Great video! But you've missed out something something which I think is worth mentioning: 1) Most (if not all) US ships have had their AA score reduced. I've confirmed that on the cruiser and battleship lines as I've played some of them on live and ot PT, and am also a CV player so I've memorized some of the values from live client. On the cruisers it's not so much it's like 3-6 points, but on the BBs it's a bit higher nerf, especially on the tier 8+ ones, with the North Carolina having the biggest reduction in AA (10 points or more, don't really remember); 2) Another thing is that now when you put a captain on a ship or a module, the stats of the ships get updated and give you the upgraded values. ( For example you put a module for -10% detectability or have it as a captain skill, your ship stats show for 10km to 9km ) -
That actually reminds me of another thing to ask about - why should it be so bloody hard to read names in the team panels in the post game stats...? Sometimes when I'm looking for a dead players it's almost impossible to read out his name..

Alright, so I have a little "issue" with the clock that is in the game and from playing on the Public Test I don't think it's going to be looked at unless I bring it up. My problem with the current time indicator is that it's barely visible in some situations. When you play anything other than a CV, if the clock has white clouds in the background it's sort of OK to look at and there are no problems. However on maps like Ocean and North due to the weather the clock is very hard for me to distinguish, due to the background: Here's an example on North: It looks kind of visible, cause I've zoomed in the screenshot, but when you take a quick glimpse during combat, it's hard to tell what it shows. A bigger problem though is when I play Aircraft Carriers. On most of the maps again due to the weather effects it's very hard for me to tell what the clock is showing and I find myself often pressing Shift to exit the top view so I can have a better background to look at it. Some of those maps are North, Ocean, Ice Islands, Hot Spot (or Bees to Honey), Fault Line, Two Brothers. When the water has a light blue summerish texture it's kind of okay: Above image is from one of the new maps in 0.4.1 ( the mediterranean setting one), but again if my camera goes over some land it gets impossible to tell anything: Here are some other bad examples: - Hot spot: - Two Brothers: - North: As you can see especially on North it's ridiculous. And I can't be the only one who is experiencing this issue. I think if the clock is made more visible this could also help out in reducing the number of draws, as it will be easier for the majority of players to see how much time they have left even when they are tunnel visioning on something ( which I admit I sometimes also do). My suggestion on fixing this is to give us some sort of customization available for the time indicator. It could be some simple stuff like tick a box to make it a bit bigger, options to change the color of it, or adding some sort of greyish/whitish semi transparent background to it. I remember coming across a topic before where there were suggestions about adding some sound effects for the 10 and 5 minutes marks, which I absolutely support. I really hope the devs can put a little time into this small thing which can overall help out the gaming experience! I know the issue can probably be "modded" in some way, but I don't see a reason why the vanilla game shouldn't have a solution for this.

I was actually wondering the same thing so I started paying some attention to what games the MM puts me in, and eventually noticed that I had been put in a "normal" game. So we are still gona have the standard battles. I personally like the new domination variant and prefer more dominations - means less draws for me over all.

If you guys remeber some weeks ago, there were news that a number of ships were "added for testing purposes and won't be available to the players" which I guess were available to the super testers only. As far as i remember they were around 7 ships, some were Omaha clones, but there were some others 1 of which was an IJN DD Recently, as I'm interested in computer hardware, I was looking at the new Intel Skylake processors and some of the new Z170 motherboards that will be coming out and I found out that ASUS is making bundles for them, as well as other hardware with WoWs codes. You get a code for yourself (15 days of premium and ~1250 gold) and an Invite code for a friend which gave a premium ship like the Diana and some others. If they are bundling them in motherboards, I'm sure they will arrive in premium shop soon enough. If I manage to find the website listing all bundles I will post it. Here are the bundles: http://www.asus.com/Microsite/rog/world-of-warships/

Hello! So I've been testing out the new fighter ability and a few games now I've come across a serious bug - whenever you use your ability on a group of fighters, if the enemy clicks on your fighters to attack them, as soon as yours have finished their attack run they get stuck. They can't move, they can't attack back, they are literally stuck. When I gave them any order it just drew a line towards the center of where the ability zone was, if I clicked to attack the enemy fighters it put an icon on them that they are about to engage but that's about it - they didn't do anything and they got killed. Overall the ability is good, I'm still figuring out how it works but that thing is just game breaking for them.
-
Well I've had worse man It's just how it is - you can't win them all, no matter how good you do. We just have to deal with it and hope for more luck in the next battle
-
So I know most of us like to look at random funny photos or videos on the internet so I decided to make this thread to share the amusing things we come across online. I'll start by sharing this one I made, being inspired by some teammates I came across in battle:
-
On the contrary - with CVs if you have good understanding about game mechanics - how AA, torpedoes, planes etc works, and have a good tactic which you can execute, you can have pretty beast games.
-
Hello! I wasn't sure where to post this, but here it goes: I just found out that it's possible to switch the captain from a ship that is currently still in battle to another ship which isn't. Is this a bug or is it working as intended?
-
If it's a bug I think they should keep it though. The battles last way too long in this game and that "feature" would help out a lot if I want to train my captain faster
-
Yeah, on US line you get the first plane with New Mexico and on the Colorado you can now swap it for a fighter. I highly recommend the fighter though - if you are like me, who doesn't fire from max range that often and likes to close the distance to the enemy you won't benefit much from the spotting plane. Also the fighter lasts 5min and while it can attack enemy planes (which in higher tiers you almost always have CVs in the battle), they also do an excellent job at spotting the close perimeter around you, which from my experience helps out a lot when you are being hunted by a DD. And as I play also CVs. I can tell you that those fighters are REALLY annoying mosquitoes!

I don't see a necessity for a Balkan forum. Yes I'm from the Balkans, but from what I remember when I checked out the Balkan forum for WoT and WoWp a while ago, they were all on serbian language (sorry if I'm wrong), so they should just call it a Serbian speaking forum, cause that language alone can not make the whole balkans - they should also include greek, bulgarian, romanian, albanian etc. which should become too complicated. And for me personally speaking english is not hard, nor unpleasant.

Yes, it would be the absolute right thing to do for WG, considering they are forcing us to test this "rather unfinished product" ! But I don't think receiving gold would be enough, considering the hard work you, me and everyone else is doing to test this product, forced by big bad WG I think the better thing for them to do is to pay us a salary, and give us a full time job as testers. Hell, they should even pay us compensations for moral damage caused for all those times we have been sinked by other ships. I support you 10000%, mr. Troll!

Dev guide to fixing "WHAAA CV ARE OP PLZ NERF"
Adrian1914 replied to JesusRaptorTank's topic in General Discussion
I completely agree that buffing the XP reward would help a lot! Currently there is next to no benefit to go fighter setup on a CV or to protect your team with your cruiser ability, except for the moral reason - to be a team player and to help out the rest. But there would still be topics about "x ship is OP", I doubt they would even go away. Every ship used the right way with some skill and thought can become OP, and strike CVs do have quite a big potential to have a massive impact on the game result but only if used the right way. And let's be real - I've played enough battles to know that those skilled CV captains are rare to come across and usually people whine when that one battle they had and that enemy CV completely dominated their team, made them frustrated. Hell I've been frustrated so many times when late in the battle there aren't a lot of friendly ships left alive around me and a destroyer is staying unspotted launching torps at me and eventually kills me. But hey I don't rage, or go post on the forums - on the contrary, I admit being outplayed in the situation as the DD driver made the right choices. -
Yeah I've been reading that atm there are some issues with the hardware drivers and Windows 10. I heard that MS is launching a hotfix or program or whatever it is that lets you choose which drivers to flash back to the Windows 8.1 or 7 drivers, There is not a lot of info though but do look out for something like that Edit: Also bare in mind that WoWs is sill a beta game so optimization for the new Win10 is not final, I assume WG will patch it soon, but the reason your other games are running with no problem is that they are a finished products
