ok tell me how to "tank" damage in a Sea battle
basharran replied to icedlemon's topic in General Discussion
Please add punctuation to this line of text. I think you are saying something that's correct, but I can't be sure -
How does RNG, range and dispersion _exactly_ work?
basharran replied to havaduck's topic in General Discussion
If they decide the deviation at the time a shell leaves the barrel than distance would certainly be a matter to take into account. When typing this I'm also wondering if camouflage on a ship will protect a group of relative close to each other sailing ships? How will the game know who you are shooting at? -
I hope they do keep the mods and addons to a minimum, imho it's such a mess in WoT.
-
Really? I didn't know that, thanks for the information!

I agree with Houmer_ that personal input is now the "key" for xp and credits and I applaud that change. However Corun points out a issue with that input and thus player attitude, imo this can be solved by: - Increase XP and credits for shooting down planes. - Introduce spotting rewards. - Introduce some other mechanics to contribute to your score and not only damage done. well, just my 2 cents.

I forgot to add: also try running with Vsysc disabled, the problem with Vsync is that if you are running on a 60hz screen and you're framerate drops below 60 you will indeed get 30 fps (and below 30 to 15, etc). To battle this is where Gsync and Freesync are coming in... but that's another topic

What would a 356mm+ armor piercing shell really do to a destroyer?
basharran replied to Remi_Drexel's topic in Age of Armour Warships
In regard to AP on light to no armor targets: "The attacking Japanese force initially used armor-piercing shells, which proved largely ineffective against unarmored ships as they passed through and out without exploding. Even the small destroyer escorts were engineered with enough redundancy to survive dozens of hits without or before sinking." So no foiling up on a hit from a large caliber AP shell. Interesting read that battle off Samar piece as it contains very much specific combat details. -
Consumable Engine Boost add visibility range to DD?
basharran replied to Sensaia's topic in Destroyers
Very nice from WG to add that to the tooltip... explains a lot though. -
I don't see it as a problem, it's a MMO so there should be options to play together. If the options to form a division wouldn't exist I doubt that very much people would play it for a long time (myself included).

Submarines would be extremely boring and very situational, also you need to develop counters for them and I think that airplanes with depthcharges would only cause more rage on the forum than they currently do (planes that is)
-
You can also read it from reports on crashes between ships in WW1 and WW2. Even when a heavy ship had a collision with for instance a destroyer this could inflict enough damage to warrant some time in a dry dock. The damage to a smaller and lighter ship ofcourse will often be bigger than on a heavier and larger ship. But even a destroyer although lighter and smaller is by no means a small and light boat compared to say when a oil tanker hits a sailing yacht and sinks it without even noticing it was there... I think the system is in place to discourage people to ram and as with all systems you can find some sort of "abuse" for it.

Yup, holding RMB is also "free-look" in WoWs. CTRL+X has it's uses also.

So, this is what the game has become.....
basharran replied to T3ddyBear's topic in General Discussion
It should not even be possible to have a full strike setup only, fighters were always part of any CV composition to fly CAP, interdiction and escort missions. I do agree that XP and credits for shooting down planes needs to be fixed to make it viable (for both CV's and CL/CA's). -
My 2 year old laptop (i7 + GTX780M) has no problems running this game on high with constant framerate of 40+, have not noticed anything wrong with that the last couple of days (played some matches last evening after the patch). I checked to make sure WoWs was running on the Nvidia card (as it did not after the initial installation of the game in CBT). Have you tried to update both your Intel/AMD and Nvidia drivers? Also try to reinstall the Nvidia drivers without Geforce Experience as that is known to sometimes cause issues with performance.

Have a +1 from me as well OP. 36 year old game and computer enthousiast here and I couldn't agree more with you lot!

I for one don't care about WR (although it tells something about your influence on teams, but not all the time). What I do like in Wows is that regardless of win or loss if you did something you get a decent reward, which is much harder in WoT. However I would love to see a more rewarding award system in WoWs to allow people to be team players and get rewarded for it, so better rewards for shooting down planes, spotting enemy ships (and maybe like in WoT a bonus for damage done to them by team mates), etc. I would not like to have a XVM style something for WoWs as it would introduce the most unwanted player behaviour for MMO style games as we see in WoT (just my opinion ofcourse).

Carriers are OP, Battleships are OP, Cruisers are OP, Destroyers are OP
basharran replied to Ectar_'s topic in General Discussion
Hi Ectar, Can you add this post about spotting mechanism also? http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/14258-basics-spotting-mechanics/ -
Impossible to Evade Carrier Torps. (Not when you evade properly).
basharran replied to Outlawz0111's topic in General Discussion
I want CV's to stay, they add something to the mix of ships and challenge so that's good. However I want the unrealistic plane physics gone, this way a good player with some sort situational awareness can indeed start turning into the TB's when he spots them. Currently this has no use, the CV player will just readjust the planes and launch anyway, now you are doomed with your already commited 15+ seconds rudder shift. PS I have not yet encountered very much CV's in OBT yet since I'm just getting into tier 4, but had more than 300 battles tier 4+ in CBT. -
After disconnect I cant resume battle, game put me to docks
basharran replied to GordonRamsay's topic in Archive
I've had it also, and some of my division friends experienced the same. Has been the same in CBT. -
For the record to help locate the issue: I have not noticed this issue, running on a Intel processor with Nvidia GPU.
-
I think you were the victim of a non existent player base (just started after wipe and only 5k players online) for your tier 6 ship, the same goes for the tier 9 CV. In these circumstances the MM can never give you a proper match. So with your restrictions put in place the MM should tell you to pick another ship (maybe suggest tier range) or wait for a undisclosed ammount of time before you can have a battle.

Even with AA on the highest level those ropes keep on being not anti aliased (is that even a word?).

Sorry but i am losing interest quickly!
basharran replied to Praetorias's topic in General Discussion
For me the grind in Wows is non existing. All ships can be competitive in any game, you never feel utterly useless as you can feel in WoT sometimes. This doesn't mean you can always carry games, but at least you can have a useful contribution to the team's effort. Next to that I find it refreshing that even on a loss you can earn decent xp and silver, finally we are rewarded for our effort and not some random win/loss outcome. -
Because someone is having a certain view of the game and is willing to take the time to post it here for all to (dis)agree with, I would find it harsh to call that whine per definition. Also since this game is still in beta I would like to believe that any and all data/information should be appreciated by the WG devs. My advice: If you feel someone is a "whiner" just refrain from reacting to the topic and let it bleed dry on it's own merrit.
